It’s the GOVERNMENT that is taking the money and redistributing it. THAT’s the problem.
It’s called taxation and last time I checked, black people also pay taxes, that is, those of us who can be bothered to stir from beneath the blankets on Monday mornings…

Oh. Well it doesn’t apply then.

You said: “…In addition, it is my opinion that this is a replay of the old political game of blowing the right whistles to whip up the aptly named base.”

That sounded like a broad-brush suggestion that the “base” would be “whipped up” by what you took to be racist rhetoric. If so, that would have been a bigoted statement as regards conservatives who, after all, would be Santorum’s “base”.

But it is good to know that was not the intent.
Oh, the word base has several meanings - maybe I’ll get round to looking them all up and posting…

Not long. That’s why he is not my mentor or source for religious guidance. I prefer to go a little higher inthe food chain.
Could you tell us what proportionate reasons there are that would allow a Catholic to vote for Obama in spite of his support of unrestricted taxpayer funded abortion on demand?

So in a nutshell you are telling Jewish voters for instance who vote for Democratic Party candidates that they are voting for a Nazi-like holocaust. If I were Jewish that might offend me.
No, I was making an analogy, Cmatt. You said, in defense of your Democrat party’s support for abortion, “neither party is perfect”. So your party fights to keep the slaughter of the unborn legal, and your answer is “well, they’re not perfect.” So, (get ready for the explanation of my post here) I likened that to a Nazi who, in defending his membership in the Nazi party and being called to task for the holocaust, said “nobody’s perfect.”

Does that make sense now? Cmatt, why is it that when confronted with the reality of what you are supporting, you obfuscate - change the subject and try to twist things around? Don’t you know that all this obfuscation shows the moral bankruptcy of your party’s pro-abortion politics? I truly hope you will confront the reality of the pure unadulterate evil that is your party’s support of abortion. I hope you do this soon and without trying to change the subject or kid yourself into thinking its ok, because - “nobody’s perfect”.

Like Catholics, Jews are not monolithic in their political views. The more Orthodox often vote conservative, whereas the less Orthodox tend to vote liberal, but this too is a generalization. Also, Jews are, by and large, not single-issue voters. While Israel is important for many Jews, there are other issues of importance to them as well. Abortion is, for the most part, not an issue high on the list for Jews. I’ve never thought of Conservative Republicans as the enemy of Israeli or American Jews; but, on the whole, I don’t agree much with their economic philosophy or social policies.
Interesting. According to Michael Medved, most American Jews’ core identity is the rejection of Christianity. I suppose it follows then that since the right or conservatism contains a lot of evangelicals and other Christians (and Catholics) then most American Jews will oppose them. Medved goes on to explain that for many, more secular Jews who have abandoned or lost the unique aspects of their faith cling to the one unique thing that unifies them - the rejection of Christianity:

“For many Americans, the last remaining scrap of Jewish distinctiveness involves our denial of New Testament claims, so any support for those claims becomes a threat to the very essence of our Jewish identity. Many Jews therefore view enthusiastic Christian believers—no matter how reliably they support Israel and American Jews—as enemies by definition.”

It is not hard to see how this would translate into support for the Democrat party because it is the party that most embraces the secular agenda and opposes the goals of traditional Christian voters, and opposition to the Republican party because it supports the political goals of many Christians.

I wasn’t changing the subject. You’re the one who brought up Nazis on a thread about President Obama and people voting for him. So no it really doesn’t make any more sense to me the 2nd time around.

I am rather bored of seeing Catholics try to defend their vote for Obama. The fact that you need to defend it, shows you something is wrong.
The Catholics I’ve seen defend it wouldn’t have to if they weren’t asked over and over again to defend it after having defended it.

I’d love to discuss my opinion with a member of a Catholic forum. I would not like to publish my opinion with a shill for the RNC.
I don’t know if you’ve been lurking for any amount of time before actually deciding to join CAF, but the politics on the forum is majority Republican.

I don’t think he’ll take your guidance. He’s looking for someone higher up the food chain…a “member” of a Catholic forum. 😛

I just admire the folks who are sticking with this thread. I can’t do it anymore.

Fair enough. The idea of there being positive signs for Obama’s re-election is pretty hard to stomach. 😃

Your and CMatt25’s normal victimhood claims noted. 😉

There are plenty of nominal, Democrat Catholics on CAF. 🙂
I actually don’t find Ringil to be a nominal Catholic in any sense of the word at all. From his posts I have the impression he is very much a practicing faithful Catholic. And he’s one of the Catholics who I’ve seen explain over and over again how a Catholic can vote for Obama and can do so under Catholic teaching and guidance from the bishops. I actually thank him and the others who do so for that.

Three signs that Obama will probably be re-elected?
Romney
Gingrich
Santorum

the list goes on, but I’ll stop at 3

Unless those voting in SC unite behind one of the anti Romneys enough to deny him his third straight victory, and then if that person acquires the money to mount a strong enough media blitz in such a large state as FL to play on an even field with Romney there, it looks like he will be the challenger to Obama’s reelection. I did see an exit poll in NH showing the non Romney voters there would not be satisfied with Romney.

Thanks for the link. I’m familiar with Medved’s interesting psychoanalytic hypothesis, and, while some non-practicing, secular Jews may believe this, I would say the majority do not. The core identity of most American Jews who are less orthodox is still their own faith (for example, participation at the Passover Seder, attending synagogue on Yom Kippur), their family and friends, their work, and leisurely pursuits and hobbies. Most Jews don’t coalesce around the rejection of Christianity. I don’t know how Orthodox Medved himself is, or what his own identity consists of, but there are other branches of Judaism besides Orthodox which enjoy a fulfilling religious and spiritual life.

You mean you can’t or refuse to answer the questions asked of you. Here goes again:

*the Senate was debating whether to ban partial-birth abortion, Santorum asked two pro-choice senators opposed to the ban, Russ Feingold, D-Wis., and Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., this: Suppose the baby slips out of the birth canal before it can be killed. Should killing it even then be a permissible choice? **Neither senator would say no

So, again, Seekerz. What do you think of your party?
And I turn my attention then to the many other issues I as a pro life voter must ponder, consider, and pray upon.
.
**

You call yourself a pro-life voter? Yet you support the party that fights to keep abortion legal?

Cmatt your tactics are disingenuous and unbecoming of someone who professes to be a christian as you do. I’m thinking you totally understand my Nazi example, but you just refuse to admit it because of what the implications would be if you did. If you won’t have a straightforward conversation then perhaps atleast when you’re away from the forums and on your own, you’ll consider the possiblity that your support of the pro-abortion party is wrong. For that I will pray.
