Tired of being single

As I just heard on a commercial, that and a dollar may get you a cup of coffee…

Let’s be realistic - it’s not jealousy…it’s hunger. We were not created to be alone. Remember, unless we are specifically called to one of the celibate vocations, our vocation IS marriage.

So, instead of the “tsk tsk who could it be…could it be…SATAN!” ala the SNL Church Lady, how about our fellow Catholics taking this as a WAKE UP CALL and taking the needs and pains of Catholic singles who can’t find compatible Catholic spouses more seriously (like the apostles established the diaconate to meet the needs of the Hellenic widows who were neglected in the distribution instead of “tsk tsk” nagging them that they were afflicted by jealousy that Satan was using to drive them from Jesus and their vocation). Remember what the Bible says:

“If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and no food for the day, and you say to them, ‘Good-bye and good luck! Keep warm and well fed’, but do not meet their bodily needs, what good is that?” (James 2:15-16)
I am so going to start yelling “IT’S SATAN!” and pointing whenever someone ask a question. evil laugh. 😛

And I wonder why I’m single (I have a really weird sense of humor).

LOL! I dare you to yell out “IT’S SATAN!”!! :rotfl:

Please let us know how others react, ok? 😛

I have a quirky sense of humor too. 👍

People with quirky and odd senses of humor make the world go round!
Glad to meet Catholics who share it!

I was so about to when my customers call complaining about their bill. “IT’S SATAN!”. I did yell it at my co-worker as a joke, and she started laughing. And my boss was cool, but she is Catholic as well.

This thread makes me so sad that there isn’t more of me to go around. 😦 I am going to go and remind my wife how lucky she is to have me.

What kind of activities would singles like to see in church? I was attending another parish for a while and we had a lot of activities for younger catholics but sadly back home there is nothing ever going on and nobody shows up when we try anything.
Youth Groups with lots of speakers, weekly events with dinner, etc.

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind.

The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, meekness, goodness, temeperence, faith.
Despite all that, the fact remains that if we are cut, we will bleed, and if we are not fed, our stomachs will growl in hunger.

And then we will do whatever it takes to silence the hunger. Because something is better than nothing.

This might sound strange, but one thing that helps me when I feel frustrated is to reread the chapter in A Story of A Soul where St. Therese talks about how she wanted to enter Carmel, her frustrations and disappointments, and what she ultimately learned about herself during her waiting time.

It sounds bizarre, but I’ve learned a lot about my current situation from that chapter.

LOL. That is my style of humor. Unfortunately, I’m usually around people who wouldn’t get around it, so I usually have to keep my mouth shut!

The irony is, as much as I want to be a wife and a mother, I am also afraid to be one. I’m very selfish and lazy, and I’m afraid that I’ll simply be a disappointment to my husband and children. 😦

I’m nervous too. I got a C in Home Ec. in 7th grade and I haven’t improved much since the 1992-1993 school year.

I’m afraid to be a dad/husband-I think a little fear is in all of us because a marriage causes you to see it all. The bad, even worse, and the “oh my God!” You’ll see the worst someone can offer.

If your lucky, you can also see the best.

I work with the hungry every day. We also get people who are just looking for a “free ride”. You know how I can tell the difference between someone who is honestly hungry? They are not picky. They are thankful for the plate that is offered to them.

To compare to hunger, every one of you could be married to a faithful Catholic man/woman within 6 months. I promise. You could satisfy that hunger.

God did design people to live in marriage - thing is, we want more than just a faitful person of the opposite sex who is free to marry, we want one with “an MBA or other post grad degree, not too short or fat or bald or bucktoothed or pimply or loud or quiet, make at least 65K per year, own a home, have a new car, be funny and an award winning ballroom dancer.”

What about looking for someone who loves God, is a faithful Catholic and is free to marry and will be your best friend for life.

That’s very well said. It sums it up perfectly, and it’s what I want in a spouse.

I’m not picky! I’ve said it before: pulse and male body parts. 🙂 And Catholic would be awesome as well. I have no qualms about marrying outside the Church, if that is what I have to do so I won’t end up a spinster. I would prefer to marry a Catholic, but if men are picky, I’m left in the cold. Brr.

I do do this, and I still haven’t found someone.

My only requirement is a faithful devout Catholic, and living it.
kage, I like almost everything you write, but you are dead wrong on this. Well, at least for some poeple, like me. I’m not saying there aren’t people who are too picky, but I can’t even find a faithful catholic to date, much less be too picky about them. The couple dates I’ve had I’ve found that either they aren’t faithful Catholics (with bigger issues that were red flags that would contribute to a very troubled marriage), or they weren’t interested in me.

Well I would not call that quirky I would just say that is flat funny…😃
