Definitely cultural differences. But even here in England in my village there are women who’d put you in traction for six months for saying a cheery “good morning.”

I only just recently learned thay saying, “Have a nice day” sounds bossy and off-putting to the English ear. These cultural differences are fascinating!

Jesus wasn’t “nice”. He flipped a table for goodness sake! But he was loving, virtuous and holy, something all Catholics should and must strive for.

I had to smile reading your first sentence.
My first thought was - you may need to be tougher.
Being tough - challenges rudeness.
“ Get thee behind me Satan “

You may have to look a little more into your spiritual warfare practices.

I was joking, in England most people would take what I said with a pinch of salt and think it faintly amusing, which again shows you how there are differences, and also highlights how text is such a poor method of communication…or maybe I’m just a poor communicator!
Have a nice day isn’t a problem I don’t think, it has caught on here too, though some people say “have a good one” etc.
Diversity prevents boredom too.

We also have lots in common too Our Lord for example 😊

I took it to be a hyperbolic illustration of the customs of that village. You seem to communicate well, could be my interpreting. 😉

I’m almost out of likes so I must withhold one.
Hyperbolic, now I’ve got to go reading again!
