Yes, Purgatory is certainly a path to purification - for one who died in some state of grace. However, in my mind heinous acts = mortal sin, and purgatory is of no value for that.

Okay. You’re walking on ground that I don’t know enough about, I think. I’m still in the conversion process from Protestant to Catholic, and my research is not yet complete.

Yes, Purgatory is certainly a path to purification - for one who died in some state of grace. However, in my mind heinous acts = mortal sin, and purgatory is of no value for that.

I think heinous act would be synonymous with “grave matter”, which is one of the three necessary components of mortal sin. We can’t judge their knowledge or full consent, so the person who commits some heinous act certainly may wind up in Purgatory.

What did all of these tribes do to deserve genocide?

While we are told many of the bad things they did, it doesn’t explain the genocide in my opinion. But I have noticed that even today, the evil suffer.

Haiti, for example, is a very poor country, and the capital of Voodoo. I was watching a program about a poor country in Africa in which diamonds are mined, and they wouldn’t mine them on Sunday. Why? The man said because it is the day of the devil, and working on this day makes him mad.

Our country is evil too, in it’s own ways. But I was thinking maybe it has a larger population of Christians who are willing to spread Christianity, and that’s why God keeps us around. I know it’s not just to talk to each other on this website.

Everyone wants to get closer to God. Everyone. Not just you. All of us. I believe everyone who keeps trying does get closer and closer.

We don’t know why God does anything, all we know is we need Him. And He is there…
