Did any of you see the Mass today at The National Basilica on EWTN? What did you think?

It was breath taking. I believe that’s the second TLM in as many months on EWTN. Hopefully its increased exposure results in more parishes offering the EF on a weekly basis. Of course some people will protest and state that their usual OF is ‘just as reverent’ but I digress…

I watched it on EWTN. Amazing! What a blessing.

Well, it was pretty good. However, the entrance of the Mass was extremely shaky. Why were the Knights of Columbus leading the way? That was just wrong. And I saw one or two priests talking to people on their way to the altar, that wasn’t good either. It was nice, but would have been much better if the entrance were more reverent.

Haven’t you heard? Disrespect and irreverence cannot possibly occur at a TLM. You must have been watching a different Mass, sorry.

First of all, that Mass was never called a TLM. It was called a Pontifical High Mass. Basically it was a mixed type of Mass. Lots of TLM parts but a few Novus Ordo parts as well.

I could handle it a couple of times a year. But other than that, too much pomp for my tastes.

I lost my focus and got bored by all the pageantry after awhile. That kind of honesty may bother some here, but that is what happened. I got bored by the pageantry.

What was wrong with that? That is the standard protocol.

What was wrong with it? The Knights of Columbus leading the way to the altar? What’s wrong with it is that is isn’t Traditional. It’s not supposed to be that way, it’s not the least bit reverent. They weren’t even going to be celebrating the Mass so what buisness did they have leading the way?

Don’t know what you’re on about, sorry. Maybe you had the TV on the wrong channel?

You are really weird. Your brand new member and I’ve seen your other post. Don’t come here starting trouble. By the way this isn’t MichaelDaniels is it?

I watched the entire Mass. Would you please identify the “Novus Ordo” parts?

It was wonderful to see the Latin mass said at that altar in that beautiful setting.
I loved that, but was a little too much pomp for me also.
