To all evil spirits: I will not give you power anymore

I am sorry, I don’t understand this statement; I bolded that part. Please explain.
I mean this part here:
I want to retaliate in hate and violence and flee from my family.
is unsettling.

My 16 year old daughter also has some form of ADD and anxiety that causes her to act out to make life miserable for people around her. It has been extremely difficult on a *daily *basis for the past 14 or 15 years. And my 10 year old son has a form of depression that can lead him to violent outbursts–troubling enough that two or three years ago our child psychiatrist said that the police will eventually be involved in his life if we don’t get him help. When he was six years old my son referred to it as “getting the madness.” So I do have a sense of where you’re coming from. I’ll say that medication has made our family’s lives much, much better, and I’ll stop at that.

I personally don’t go so far as to believe it to be the work of demons or evil spirits, although prayer does sometimes help me keep my cool.

Still Hoping,

That quote from the last post is SO true. We adopted a child with some pretty serious behavioral issues as well. She has ADD and ADHD and is on medications as well as periodic counseling. I used to think all that medication stuff was junk science. That was until we went on vacation and my child “forgot” her meds. We could barely stand to be with her!!! It was especially frustrating because she sure as hell didn’t forget the iPod, cellphone, etc. Anyway, those meds are amazing gifts from God because she is an ENTIRELY different person on them (read: better, less forgetful, pleasant, tolerable, agreeable, less moody). This child has definitely been a strain on the marriage BUT she is still a child of God so I try and always remember that. As I write this, I was supposed to be out of state today but she had a major blow-up last night so I had to reschedule; I can definitely empathize with you.

Lastly, as part of the evil spirits you talk about, our child is great UNLESS you try and parent her. She has looked at my wife and I with such disdain that privately my wife and I have wondered if there is in fact an evil spirit. That sounds like a horrible thing to say about a child but until and unless you have seen that look you don’t understand.

Your Brother in Christ,

HollowGhost

My child has ADHD, learning difficulties, anxiety, rage and insecurity.

The whole point of this post was to fend of rage and violence which I believe are demons in of themselves. I know it is hard for some to understand but I don’t see her as such. Now I see her as having these disabilities and I must look upon her with compassion. However, in the heat of one of her raging outbursts, I felt a sickening presence and I let it overwhelm me so this prayer was written in that moment and it was meant to fend of these evil emotions (negative or demonic as I see it sometimes). You can’t understand until you see your child do such a thing. It has been plaguing my family.

The only reasonable way I can make sense of it is that she was exposed to violence and though that violence is no more it has some influence on her behavior. She also had love from her parents and family. Some of her behavior is normal teen stuff and other times it crosses that. Do you kind of get it now?
I think it is your use of the word "Demons: here that is unsettling. Perhaps you could clarify that.

So you do know where I come from.

What I meant by that statement you quoted is that I sometimes want to react to her violence by fighting back. I know now that she does get some of her behavior from me. FIRE WITH FIRE=DISASTER. The prayer was a way to fight off my demons and to calm her. The presence of rage is like this negative energy that almost possesses us. This is what I am trying to fight off. It doesn’t even have to be provoked, it can come out of the blue. I lived like this for half the time I was married. I lived in constant fear. I believe that influenced my child apart from her ailments. Also, she refuses to take medication of any sort so I went holistic and still she does not want. That being said there has been steady progress but the unpredictability of her anger is what concerns me.

Nonetheless, I will continue to pray for us and practice patience and find measures to calm myself when it does happen. I am learning and there is no need to feel unsettled. I realize my actions and I will have to practice control on my emotions.

Thank you and God bless. May the Lord help you and your family.

Perhaps it was the context in which I used the word. Demons exists. They are fallen angels and are reeking havoc on humans because they were driven out of Heaven and unto the Earth. I believe they incite anger, violence, sexual perversity, division, hate, jealousy, torment etc. All that is negative. It may very well be human nature and our fallen state but certain things go beyond that. Is it that you don’t believe in them?

Well of course I do. But I also believe in the concept of sin and free will. Just curious, how does one get rid of demons?

Help! I think i need to call the cops! I don’t know what to do! Please help! MY DAUGHTER IS GOING BALLISTIC ON ME BECAUSE I GAVE HER ADVICE AND INSISTED ON IT AND SHE CALLED ME ALL SORTS OF NAMES AND I SLAPPED HER AND SHE HIT ME. I CALLED HER FATHER AND HE TOLD ME THAT I NEED MENTAL HELP AND THEN HE SAID HIS DAUGHTER NEEDS IT TOO. I WANT TO LEAVE HIM AND THIS FAMILY NO AMOUNT OF SACRIFICE IS WORTH MY SAFETY. I AM SCARED BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO SEND HER TO JUVI. NOW TELL ME THIS IS NOT THE DEVIL’S WORK! SHE IS ALMOST 18 AND STILL HAS THIS ANGER TOWARDS ME. I REGRET THE DAY I DIDN’T LEAVE MY HUSBAND WHEN I SHOULD OF. THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF THE VIOLENCE SHE WITNESSED AND MY DEPRESSION. SHE WON’T TAKE MEDICATION. SHE IS SPECIFICALLY LIKE THAT WITH ME. I WANT YOUR PRAYERS; THIS IS EVIL AND NOT SOME PHASE!

DEAR GOD, I TRUST IN YOU. PLEASE HEAR YOUR DAUGHTER’S CRIES. WHY DO YOU AFFLICT ME THIS WAY? PLEASE HELP US AND RELIEVE US OF ALL TEMPTATION. PLEASE JESUS LISTEN. I KNOW I AM NOT WORTHY AND I KNOW I MADE MISTAKES, I ASKED FOR FORGIVENESS AND I ASK IT AGAIN. IF THERE IS SOMETHING I MISSED PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I CAN’T DO THIS ANYMORE. PLEASE GOD HEAR ME AND DELIVER US FROM EVIL. IN THE NAME OF JESUS I ASK THESE THINGS LORD WITH A CONTRITE AND HUMBLE HEART. YOU KNOW MY DAUGHTER BETTER THAN I, PLEASE HEAL HER. IN YOUR SWEET NAME DO THIS FOR ME PLEASE.

You “insisted on it”?!
Why?
Advice is given once… twice, if the message didn’t pass at first.

Now, as an outsider and not knowing much besides what you write here (which may lead to a very skewed view), I think your whole family need counseling - you included.
And, considering how things are going, I’d advise getting it as soon as you can…
Some sort of counseling for the whole family, not just one person at a time.

I’ll leave it at that. Professionals can do wonders that internet people can’t.

Stop posting and get professional help.

Prayers offered for your situation. But please get real professional help. You need to recognize the mental problems here and not just focus on the spiritual ones. You should get yourself some mental health immediately. Just like in an airplane you need to put your mask on first before you can help your child.

I did, I called the social worker and intervention to help us. She has to be willing. I don’t know now how this will go. I am sorry for posting here. Thank you for your prayers.

I was asked several times my opinion and this was my opinion. she had her own and I said fine do as you think. she got offended and started to tell me off and throw stuff because she said I don’t respect her opinion.

Her friend is coming over and she started ranting about how we don’t have the food she wants, when just last night we went to pick up some groceries. I prohibited her a long time ago from seeing this friend. I find she doesn’t have a good influence on her. I let her be and she continues to see her. I finally allowed her to come over.

I know that professionals must get involved. Without hers and my husbands voluntary acceptance there is nothing I can do but pray.

Don’t be sorry.
You clearly need help to overcome this obstacle life has thrown on you.

You already have 2 people here advising you to seek professional help.
I don’t know how much help can a social worker be in these situations… my advice was of a more focused professional, a psychologist or something of the sort.

Best of luck and do your best to keep calm. 🙂
Sometimes, if you feel some rage coming up, it’s best if you just leave the room for a while - no explanations, no talking, no nothing… just leave the room.

Sometimes, it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it…
I discovered this when I younger than your daughter… and applied it to common phrases and expressions that mean one thing literally, but are usually applied sarcastically - I applied them non-sarcastically and the result was confusion from the other person…

In this case, you may have said something that got interpreted as sarcastic, perhaps of how you said it or of the general state of mind towards you - for this, both of you need help, so you can have a normal conversation, without triggering the “that was sarcastic and means exactly the opposite” switch.

This is a detail…
She may grind your gears over such details, but it’s a symptom of something else… like I said above, maybe it’s a general state of mind that she needs to snap out of.
I know that professionals must get involved. Without hers and my husbands voluntary acceptance there is nothing I can do but pray.
Indeed.
I’d suggest you approach each independently about it. Perhaps present it as a suggestion you got somewhere else by chance: “I read somewhere (or I saw on tv) that families that shout a lot with each other may benefit from some counseling… what do you think?”
But never hide the fact that it’s something that should be done by the whole family.

Maybe the social worker can provide you with the appropriate contacts 😉

Thank you pocaras. I read the links quickly and found that it had a lot to do with me. Why is it that prayers are not sufficient? Why, is it that God will not heal us. I was feeling so good until yesterday and then this. Is it some negative energy I give off and she can sense it? I don’t say anything to her but last night I told her I don’t want to talk to her because she speaks abusively to me. she says she was sorry but I don’t want to be around her.

Again, I contacted a professional but I didn’t speak to a psychologist. The social worker we had years ago was very good. My daughter trusted her.

BTW, my husband was invited to go to these meetings and he came only once after work. The social worker told me herself that he was unwilling to continue seeing her.

The only reason I come on forum to speak about this is because some of you may have the same experience and you are Catholics. I don’t know any professionals off hand who are believers. As for priests, I found they weren’t much help (personal reasons).

Right now I am in my room and I will stay here until I feel comfortable to come out. If God is trying to teach me something I am not getting it fast enough.

Well… I could give you a theory about why god doesn’t seem to answer, sometimes… but you wouldn’t like it.

That’s good… it may be be a very good move then to have the social worker suggest further counseling.
Your daughter doesn’t seem to trust you, right now, so the opinion of someone she does trust may be heeded.
👍

Best of luck!

Thanks again. It will work out. If I was able to help my relationship with my husband then I can with my child, of course with God’s help. I didn’t do it alone. I have wonderful Christian friends who offer love, prayers and support. Hence, the reason I didn’t continue seeking professional help. But now it is obvious we have to deal with our mental health.

Look at my religion, in the right side of the header of any of my posts, just below the post count.
I get it. You actually lightened my mood. I am in no way deterred by this. I think you have something and you don’t know it. Are you female?
