To all evil spirits: I will not give you power anymore

Well of course I do. But I also believe in the concept of sin and free will. Just curious, how does one get rid of demons?
I found this. I will buy it.

The Bible tells us that the battle for our eternal souls is not waged against flesh and blood, but against “the spiritual hosts of wickedness” (Eph. 6:12). Satan and his fellow fallen angels hate God and hate us, and they exert their considerable powers and intelligence to try and lead us to damnation. Ordinarily they do this through temptation to sin, but sometimes their attacks are more severe, taking the form of demonic oppression and even possession.
•What are these evil spirits we call demons?
•How can we recognize when and how they are influencing us?
•And most importantly, how do we fight back?

In*** Demons, Deliverance, and Discernment, Fr. Mike Driscoll ***answers all these questions and more.

Help! I think i need to call the cops! I don’t know what to do! Please help! MY DAUGHTER IS GOING BALLISTIC ON ME BECAUSE I GAVE HER ADVICE AND INSISTED ON IT AND SHE CALLED ME ALL SORTS OF NAMES AND I SLAPPED HER AND SHE HIT ME. I CALLED HER FATHER AND HE TOLD ME THAT I NEED MENTAL HELP AND THEN HE SAID HIS DAUGHTER NEEDS IT TOO. I WANT TO LEAVE HIM AND THIS FAMILY NO AMOUNT OF SACRIFICE IS WORTH MY SAFETY. I AM SCARED BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO SEND HER TO JUVI. NOW TELL ME THIS IS NOT THE DEVIL’S WORK! SHE IS ALMOST 18 AND STILL HAS THIS ANGER TOWARDS ME. I REGRET THE DAY I DIDN’T LEAVE MY HUSBAND WHEN I SHOULD OF. THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF THE VIOLENCE SHE WITNESSED AND MY DEPRESSION. SHE WON’T TAKE MEDICATION. SHE IS SPECIFICALLY LIKE THAT WITH ME. I WANT YOUR PRAYERS; THIS IS EVIL AND NOT SOME PHASE!

DEAR GOD, I TRUST IN YOU. PLEASE HEAR YOUR DAUGHTER’S CRIES. WHY DO YOU AFFLICT ME THIS WAY? PLEASE HELP US AND RELIEVE US OF ALL TEMPTATION. PLEASE JESUS LISTEN. I KNOW I AM NOT WORTHY AND I KNOW I MADE MISTAKES, I ASKED FOR FORGIVENESS AND I ASK IT AGAIN. IF THERE IS SOMETHING I MISSED PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I CAN’T DO THIS ANYMORE. PLEASE GOD HEAR ME AND DELIVER US FROM EVIL. IN THE NAME OF JESUS I ASK THESE THINGS LORD WITH A CONTRITE AND HUMBLE HEART. YOU KNOW MY DAUGHTER BETTER THAN I, PLEASE HEAL HER. IN YOUR SWEET NAME DO THIS FOR ME PLEASE.
Have faith in God. Please please please call your pastor and talk with him before you do anything rash. May the God of Mercy and Love send His Spirit to your entire family and grant peace and hope. Amen. :signofcross:

I will. Things have calmed down. You see, it is not normal that one can lose their temper and then come back down and be loving. It’s crazy! I won’t give up. I will talk to a priest but I will seek professional help first and foremost.

Why is it that prayers are not sufficient? Why, is it that God will not heal
A man fell off an ocean liner. He called out to God to save him. The crew tossed him a life ring, but he refused to grab ahold of it. “I trust in God to save me!” he shouted as the ship sailed away. He prayed to God to save him.

Soon a fishing boat approached and the crew held out their hands to him.

Again he refused help. “God will save me!” he shouted as the boat sailed away. And he continued to pray.

Finally a Coast Guard helicopter flew to him and lowered a basket to him. He refused to climb in and shouted, “God will save me!” with his last breath. And he drowned.

As he walked through the gates of heaven he called out to God, “Why didn’t you save me?”

And God called back, “I sent a life ring, a fishing boat, and a helicopter. What more did you want?”

Don’t expect a miracle when you pray. God rarely works miracles but he just might help som other way.

I get it. You actually lightened my mood. I am in no way deterred by this. I think you have something and you don’t know it. Are you female?
Good! I aim to keep a light mood! 😉

Female?.. no.
I’m a portuguese 34yo male, father of 3 boys, the eldest is now 11. The wife, though, is a believer in all the catholic stuff, so I’m used to… errr… everything.

@Pocaracas,
I was a fallen cradle Catholic until the prayers of my wife brought me back to the church and Christ. If there’s hope for a “traitor” like me, there’s hope for anyone! Please allow me to join my prayers with your wife’s prayers that you may come to know and believe in God. As my wife reminded me, “Your sons are looking to you as they develop into men. What is the image that you portray?” God bless my wife and may He bless you and your entire family. 👍

In my teens and early twenties my career wishes were a complete blank and some of my study choices weren’t the most appropriate with hindsight. In such cases just accept it and don’t panic about all the doors you fear might be shut. Just because God sometimes has phases of working for people through “the system” doesn’t mean He can’t take charge of your daughter’s life in unusual ways.
True.
Don’t panic because one might feel it’s an outrage to leave a person so neglected for so long. Be calm - this is par for planet Earth. Your daughter is a great survivor and so are you and all the other family members who don’t even know they need to be survivors.
Thank you for sharing your story and for your support. My daughter as dealt with this ADHD all her life and only now do we know. Regardless, she is a fighter but she fights a lot with me. I have been patient and other times offhanded. I will have to work on this.
Do any family members say “No-one in my family does - or is - such & such” ? I was so blessed my parents were so intuitive they were mega accepting however much I alarmed them by the very strange capers and bungles I got into.
Not really except my mom who said that I demonstrated some of these traits. I guess this is payback.

God bless.

I wonder at times if I missed something. I opened my mind to several possibilities of help and gave them to her especially the counselor thing. My DH was against it and I insisted and she obliged and it was good for the time. I will give it a go again.

BTW I know this tale or joke. I use to tell it to others. Pray that if there is a veil on my eyes that it may be lifted and that the Lord be merciful and gentle with me. Thank you.

You are a very young father. I imagine your wife comes from the same background. I grew up in a non-practicing cradle catholic family with many cultural superstitions so my need to find the truth was very important hence the reason I rely a lot on my faith. I can understand the indifference towards religion. It can get messy but truth is truth and it is out there.

Thank you for respecting my point of view and keeping it light. And thank you for your support earlier today. I really need to talk to someone. Bless you and your family.

It is amazing how those who revert or convert are the most ardent of believers. I would never of known 808Catholic that you are a revert. Anything is possible. God bless.

hmmmm… I don’t think anyone’s prayers are ever going to make me believe… but… who knows?!
And the image I’m portraying for my kids is one of a wise “old man”, with a knack for tech stuff… also, a bit playful! In essence, a friend who they must respect. I can live with that.

Around here, we don’t let ourselves be too much defined by our beliefs… nice people are nice people regardless of what they believe…

Well, since we’re sharing stories around the campfire… here’s mine! 😉
Both my parents always seemed pretty secular to me, never going to any church or anything… except for the occasional (and I mean very occasional) Christmas or Easter.
Then, when I was 4, they got divorced, because my mum cheated… me and my, then, 2 year old brother, were handed to our father - so my dad had custody, but we had to spend every other weekend with mum.
As kids, we didn’t notice much, but my dad keeps telling us that those were some hard times for him… I can imagine what it must have been like…
Then there was my grandmother always trying to get us to memorize some prayers - honestly, parts of them gave me the creeps as one concerned an altar statue talking back and the other was about some jacket with silver buttons… at the time, I ended up memorizing the thing, but never cared much for it. She was also the one who insisted more that we go to mass… But didn’t get much of a chance to do it, so it ended up being only a couple of times per year.
All along, even not thinking much about it, it seemed all grown ups claimed there was this god controlling everything, so… yeah… as a kid, I went along with it… until one day.
One day, I was about 10, I heard a news piece on the car radio about something that was filmed in some, to me, remote part of the world… I remember thinking “man, they have cameras everywhere, nowadays!” (far was I from imagining everyone with a camera on their pockets, like it is now with phones)… anyway, it then struck me “you know what else is everywhere?.. god… but there’s no video of any god… hmmm… oh boy… could it be?.. could it be that I’m the only one who noticed this?!”
So I stayed quiet for a few years, thinking I was the only one who thought that god wasn’t really there, everywhere.
Then I found that there was a name for this “condition” - atheism - if there’s a name, there are more people like this - a weight lifted! Some time later, I discovered that some 20% of the world’s population thought a bit like me… second weight off me!

Since then, everything I’ve learned in school made absolute sense and I never even considered the possibility that there was some discrepancy between what I was learning and whatever was on the holy text… until the bit about Adam & Eve didn’t connect. Someone was wrong and, in my mind, there was already one strike on the god side… also, cavemen actually had some fossils to attest to their existence, so that was strike two.

Time and education then made me refine some of the details…
By now, some knowledge of history, some knowledge of psychology, some knowledge of archaeology, some knowledge of physics, some knowledge of chemistry… well… they all contributed to create a pretty plausible picture of how things may have developed to become as they are now… no god required.

It is because of this neat picture I have in my mind, that I find it very difficult for any person to convince me of the existence of any god…
God itself may accomplish it… who knows if it ever will?

My dad never made any comment beyond “you can’t see the wind, and yet it is there. Not seeing something is no reason for it not to exist.”
My mum married an atheist - with her, I watched the nightmare on elm street when I was 8, aliens when I was 12… my head got messed up for a while, but then it managed to sort out fact from fiction: movies and the like were fiction so no point in dwelling on them, news and documentaries are fact, so watch a lot of these - I watched so many wildlife docu’s in my teens… also, my favorite movies are now entertaining ones - comedy, sci-fi, animation like pixar’s - nothing that claims to be “based on a true story” 😛
Thank you for respecting my point of view and keeping it light. And thank you for your support earlier today. I really need to talk to someone. Bless you and your family.
🙂 Don’t mention it. 🙂
I’m glad you’re feeling better - that’s one step towards harmony within the whole family.

??? that is funny!

What are you defined by?
Oh… all sorts of things…

Single or married?
Kids or no kids?
Jerk or kind?
Friendly or alienating?
Joyous or depressing?
Smart or dumb?
Gullible or skeptic?
Helpful or jealous?
Believer or not?
Party animal or stay at home?
Timid or extrovert?

With all due respect, does it offend you? I could of placed it there but I am reaching out to others with children such as mine. I wonder how many out there who have children with invisible disabilities struggle as I do?
Has your child been diagnosed formally with an invisible disability? Yes, I have a child with one too. Have you tried interventions other than prayer (therapy, for example)?

Hi Pocaracas,

I still haven’t figured out how you do that quote thing…anyhow just to let you know the education in Canada is like that in the US. It is only in Quebec (french province) that it is different. Better? I am not convinced but it is the cheapest education in the whole of North America. Nonetheless, I concur that she will be happiest if she follows her own heart. She seems to be set on this program offered outside of our province. Why we don’t have it here is a mystery to me. That being said, she is to assume all responsibility for her choices. I don’t want to hear her say that I should of done this or that. she has a habit of doing this to me.

As for housework, well she does what I ask (not much) but gets really annoyed if I ask for a little more. Remember that children with ADHD have to have a schedule that they approve and are comfortable with. You have to tell them details and not do things on the spur of the moment. It has to be organized almost like a chart.

As for a part-time job, well she has to try harder. She only sent out a few resumes. I will work on that with her. I may have connections that can get her work. We will see.

God bless
I have to agree that ADHD kiddos need a check list to follow, I angry outbursts you describe seem indicative of something co-morbid with ADHD. The rigidity you describes sounds more like something that falls on the autism spectrum.

I mean this part here:

is unsettling.

My 16 year old daughter also has some form of ADD and anxiety that causes her to act out to make life miserable for people around her. It has been extremely difficult on a *daily *basis for the past 14 or 15 years. And my 10 year old son has a form of depression that can lead him to violent outbursts–troubling enough that two or three years ago our child psychiatrist said that the police will eventually be involved in his life if we don’t get him help. When he was six years old my son referred to it as “getting the madness.” So I do have a sense of where you’re coming from. I’ll say that medication has made our family’s lives much, much better, and I’ll stop at that.

I personally don’t go so far as to believe it to be the work of demons or evil spirits, although prayer does sometimes help me keep my cool.
My husband and I agree this is a delicate situation and true demonic possessions are quite rare or becomes disruptive in the influence of demonic spirits. I think the medical community may be your best resource, as God has given them gifts to help children like ours.

There is no doubt that I think demonic influences can take hold of us when dealing with our children. However, I feel compassion and sadness when I see my son hurting. We lived through some of those same instances you describe, and it must be more awful than what we have experienced. If you approve, perhaps further medical attention may be key.

All my prayers…

Around here, we don’t let ourselves be too much defined by our beliefs… nice people are nice people regardless of what they believe…

What you say is sort of true: nice people are nice people but not always because of what they believe. For example, a person who believes being nice includes killing you because it will relieve you from the struggle of this world. You and I might call that person “crazy” but that person may believe it’s part of his religion. A moral code is required to ensure we all act pretty much in consonance with each other or we’d be at war constantly with each other due to conflicting, individual codes of ethics.

Well, since we’re sharing stories around the campfire… here’s mine! 😉
Both my parents always seemed pretty secular to me, never going to any church or anything… except for the occasional (and I mean very occasional) Christmas or Easter.

I’m sorry to hear your parents divorced and even sadder to hear it was due to adultery.

As kids, we didn’t notice much, but my dad keeps telling us that those were some hard times for him… I can imagine what it must have been like…

If your father was like my father, he must have been one of those tough, silent types; like Dirty Harry but nicer to his kids! You must have fond memories of growing up with such a dedicated father.

Your experience kind of reminds me of my Catholic cultural shock when I realized my grandmother never read her Bible and I can’t even remember my mother owning a Bible let alone reading one in church. The generations before us practiced their faith differently and the church evolved. Those of us who kept up with the evolution know we do things differently now. LOL. It’s funny you mentioning it, though! I still see older people in church scolding the children “that’s NOT how it’s done!” Then I have to step in after and remind the kids to be patient!

Then I found that there was a name for this “condition” - atheism - if there’s a name, there are more people like this - a weight lifted! Some time later, I discovered that some 20% of the world’s population thought a bit like me… second weight off me!

God itself may accomplish it… who knows if it ever will?

I can empathize with your experience and understand how you can believe atheism. I came across this during college and kept telling myself “science can explain almost everything!” As I slowly learned, the more science explains the "how’, the more they don’t understand the “why”. God explains the why and for some that’s the most important answer in the universe. For example, there are sub-atomic forces that hold the atom together. Why? Why does time only move in one way?

I did, I called the social worker and intervention to help us. She has to be willing. I don’t know now how this will go. I am sorry for posting here. Thank you for your prayers.
Please, please get checked out by each of your PCP or similar doctor. I think while we have all been through a “dark night of the soul” where the evil one wants our fate to continue down this path, you are describing something beyond demonic possession, I fear. At the very least, try talking to a priest, no necessarily in confession, to guide you.

Thank you pocaras. I read the links quickly and found that it had a lot to do with me. Why is it that prayers are not sufficient? Why, is it that God will not heal us. I was feeling so good until yesterday and then this. Is it some negative energy I give off and she can sense it? I don’t say anything to her but last night I told her I don’t want to talk to her because she speaks abusively to me. she says she was sorry but I don’t want to be around her.

Again, I contacted a professional but I didn’t speak to a psychologist. The social worker we had years ago was very good. My daughter trusted her.

BTW, my husband was invited to go to these meetings and he came only once after work. The social worker told me herself that he was unwilling to continue seeing her.
Understand that we are fallen. God knows are pain and He has given us the path He wants us to walk. However, God has not abandoned you. You have received good advice here, you had an unsupportive husband who did not participate in therapy, and perhaps you were counceled to get more therapy or even medical therapy. God is providing those avenues for you.

When my son had a much worse autism prognosis, I prayed to God for strength, I got angry at, Him, then I realized and accepted this is the plan God has for me. However, I did not rely on God healing him because God put therapists in our life to help our journey. These were the angels that helped my soon improve. In fact, they are still popping up in our life as my son matures. His needs change.

The beauty of God is that He often sends us those “two boats and a helicopter” to help us. We have to accept that help, even if we think it may be the wrong help. God ultimately knows best for you.

You are in a difficult spot. I will pray for you in adoration tonight. Be assured of that.
