What matters to me is what God said, not a corruption of what He said. I know that quoting Scripture is NOT helpful to you. Why should you quote Scripture when it totally disagrees with what you are teaching?
There is nothing in scripture that contradicts Catholic teaching. What disagrees is your interpretation of what you are reading. You are separated from the Apostolic Succession, and have fallen away from what they believed and taught.
Now, there’s another reason why you cannot be a true follower of Christ.
It is not your place to judge others in this manner.
The Christ of the Bible quotes Scripture all the time to teach a truth, especially to those ignorant of what they mean. He even quoted Scripture to the devil himself. Can you tell me one instance where Jesus refrained from quoting Scripture because his audience was ignorant of what the Scriptures mean? Why, ALL the Jews then, including Christ’s disciples, were ignorant of most of what was written in the Scriptures yet Jesus quoted Scripture to them all the time!
No, they were not ignorant of most of what was written. They just did not interpret it properly, very much like you are doing now. You are well acquainted with the contents of Scripture, but you interpret it differently than the Apostles did.
You did not quote Scripture because it contradicts with your interpretation. If we had talked about papal succession/authority you would have immediately quoted Matthew 16:18. Am I right?
No. The Catholic faith is not “bible based”. The Church was formed, and the Truth committed to her, prior to one word of the NT ever being written. The Church is founded by Christ, and built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets. He did not found His Church on a book, but upon people, Himself as the chief cornerstone.
And, why interpret “a thousand years” to mean “a long time”?
Because that is one of the ways the phrase is used.

The footnotes/comments in the D-R, or in any Bible for that matter, is not Scripture. I hope you know that.

I never made any such claim. I pointed out the Douay-Rheims to you because that is supposed to be YOUR authority and you should refer to that particular translation of the
Bible.
The foot notes do, though (for the most part) represent the Catholic understanding/teaching on the material.

You are wrong, though, the DR is not our “authority”. You are wrongly ascribing to scripture characteristics it does not posess. Authority must be wielded by persons, not books. The exercise of authority requires will, discernment, and the ability to take responsibility. Scripture does not have these abilities. This is one of the main reasons that the error of Sola Scriptura has produced such divisive fruit.

The authority for Catholics is the Teaching of the Apostles. This existed prior to the writing of the NT. Although it is reflected in the NT, the NT was never intended to contain it all.
That remains to be seen, MDK. God will reveal the truth to you in due time, just as Christ revealed the truth to the cocky and self-glorifying Pharisees with these words: “O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come” (Matt. 3:7). At least the Pharisees’ claim [to being the descendants of Abraham] was true. The same cannot be said of yours.
Your anti-Catholic hatred is leaking again, Mailman. It sounds very much like you are accusing MDK of being “cocky and self-glorifying”.

Maybe you better sit back, take a breath, and say a prayer, before you say something on here that you might regret. You have just judged MDK to be outside of the faith of Abraham, a judgment that you are not authorized to make. Coming onto a Catholic forum and telling Catholics these things seems quite presumptuous to me.
But when I sift through your statements and leave out the nonsense, I am left with nothing to read and respond to. So, please tell me, was what I said true? If it’s not, give me a book, chapter and verse to support your position. Just skip the nonsense.
This is probably for the best, since you are off topic anyway, and being rather uncharitable.

We have all seen what appears to be bible idolatry amongst some of the elect who have been lead astray by false teachers and false prophets. Ascribing to scripture such human qualities as authority appears to elevate a book to at least the level of demi-god. Placing all hope in scripture alone dishonors the elders in the faith. Any teaching not received form the elders is likely received from a passing spirit - and, not the Holy one!

Does not all arrogance have its root in the father of arrogance? Apparently, all of these self-appointed masters and teachers care little about scripture - at least that in James:

James 3:1 (King James Version)

“My brethren, be not many masters (teachers), knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.”

Do they bet their souls that the correct spirit has lead them to their teaching “authority”?
