I didn’t see anybody bringing their Bibles to Mass, either.I forgot something else. There are 31 pages in the back of the Catechism showing all of the citations used therein that are taken from Scripture!

Actually, it’s very biblical that the mother of the king be the queen. Go here. Also, we didn’t go looking for a mother. Our Lord gave her to us from the Cross.Yet, when Jesus says “King”, you look for a queen. When He says “Father”, you go look for a mother.
I’ve never heard of the early Christians walking around with Bibles either.I didn’t see anybody bringing their Bibles to Mass, either.
Jesus loved and honored His mother–and you should love and honor her also.I’d rather go with the words of Jesus and the example that the apostles did by listening to Him when He said “Rather (instead of that), blessed are those who hear the Word of God and obey it.”
Just as blessed are you if the Lord should call you into missions then Mary was when she said “yes”.
You really, REALLY need to hear Steve Ray’s conversion story. Would you like the tape? I could send it to you.I didn’t see anybody bringing their Bibles to Mass, either.
When we go to Mass we hear the Word of the Lord but most importantly we receive Christ in the Eucharist. Mass was not meant to be an interactive bible study. There are Catholic bible study groups outside of the Mass if that concerns you.I didn’t see anybody bringing their Bibles to Mass, either.
Plus, kujo, all the Scripture readings are found right there in the Missal. When we go to Mass we hear the Word of the Lord but most importantly we receive Christ in the Eucharist. I’ve tried replaying the eucharist sacrement over and over in my head but what I keep getting from it was that Christ’s suffering on the cross wasn’t enough and every mass its redone over and over again, even though he said it is finished. When we go to Mass we hear the Word of the Lord but most importantly we receive Christ in the Eucharist. Sounds like kujo and myfavoritmartin better find another thread. For Protestants who are NOT anti-Catholic and yet have nothing against the Church, why do you stay Protestant than???![]()
You misunderstand what He meant by “It is finished.” Read this.I’ve tried replaying the eucharist sacrement over and over in my head but what I keep getting from it was that Christ’s suffering on the cross wasn’t enough and every mass its redone over and over again, even though he said it is finished.
I don’t know why you keep getting this. Christ’s sacrifice never ended. It happened once for all time but it never ended. His sacrifice is still as present today as it would be if you and I were standing at Calvary. It is not an just an interesting historical moment in time - it is for all time. You are thinking in human ways not in the mysterious ways of God.I’ve tried replaying the eucharist sacrement over and over in my head but what I keep getting from it was that Christ’s suffering on the cross wasn’t enough and every mass its redone over and over again, even though he said it is finished.
Malachi predicts that there will be an eternal sacrifice offered to the Father from East to West even from the Gentiles!I don’t know why you keep getting this. Christ’s sacrifice never ended. The name of the book, chapter, and verse is quoted in the missal as is the text of the reading. That is so EVERYONE in the church can READ and FOLLOW the SCRIPTURE that is being READ. As such, Catholics READ the bible and HEAR the word 3 times during EACH Mass. You have never been to a Mass have you? Your ignorance and lack of understanding of the church is as glaring as the midsummer Arizona sun. Hang around, you just might learn something if you will open your heart. The simple reason I removed that statement is that apologist have studied scriptures, but the Catholic church as a whole does not. Have you ever noticed how at a Catholic mass they will state as it says in the book of ____ but they rarely quote the specific verses.,
out of respect for the .005 percent of catholics that can actually quote scripture I felt it was better left unsaid
Very, very good point.Hang around, you just might learn something if you will open your heart.
If you can read, you will find the specific scripture that is being read in the missal. What is it that is inaccurate about this, even my 13 year old son has noticed that they never quote specific scripture, rather books in general.
Don’t need to. The missal is in every pew with the bible scriptures in it. The church is really considerate that way- they provide scripture for EVERYONE.I didn’t see anybody bringing their Bibles to Mass, either.
I’m glad others pointed this out. He should suggest that his son follow along in the missal at Mass instead of just listening. If he is just listening, he will only hear the book but at his age he should be able to read the missal and find out the passages as well.If you can read, you will find the specific scripture that is being read in the missal.
