You know what I meant, it’s a misprint…it is suppose to mean blind…but you knew that.

Can anyone have a decent conversation with people who do not believe in the New Testament? Or am I just fooling myself here.

You should be convinced that He is Messiah b/c of the transformation in the personalities of His followers.
Who could transform Simon Bar Yonah, the fisherman on the shores of Galilee, to become the leader of the Jews in Israel and abroad, and finally to be acknowledged the first bishop and highest authority next to Jesus by millions of people of the whole world?
What about Saul of Tarsus, convinced that he, with the letters he had from the high priest, would completely knock out all belief in Jesus? He met the risen Yeshua on the road from Jerusalem to Damascus (Acts 9) and from a persecutor of the Gospel. He became a proclaimer of the Good News. He himself was greatly persecuted by unbelieving people everywhere until he finally died a martyr’s death at the hands of the Romans in the time of Nero.

No he wasnt. The Catholic Church was founded yet. Nor was he Muslim either, but that is another story.
Abraham was part of Gods true religion, and that religion is now called Catholicism.

Can you PROVE the above statement?

Can any modern living person PROVE they are direct descendants of David?
I don’t need to prove that Jesus was not a direct descendant of David. It’s right there in the NT. Mary was a virgin. Joseph was not the biological father of Jesus. Therefore Jesus did not directly descend from David.

There must be a paternal lineage. And since G-d can do anything maybe He did make Jesus genetically a descendant of David. It’s pretty hard to understand. Maybe G-d put Joseph’s genes together with Mary’s genes. Who knows?

As far as any modern person descending from David I don’t know the answer, but I would think there would be some. I dunno.

Ya know? If we could just get rid of that idea. The idea that the RCC is the one true religion people could get along a lot better.

The idea that the RCC is the one true religion is a very divisive idea. Oh, I know that RCs believe that it is only divisive because Jews and Protestants and others don’t accept that idea. If we would all just accept the RCC as the true church of Christ there would be no division.

Have ya’all ever stopped and thought about how non RCs feel when you state that idea? The Muslims do the same thing. They believe Islam is the one true religion. It’s very offensive.

I believe that the RCC can be a wonderful, beautiful religion up until it gets shoved down people’s throats. I am attracted to the RCC because of the liturgy, and the Magisterium, and lots of other things. But when RCs start telling everyone that theirs is the only true church I get turned off big time.

I don’t think any one religion has all the answers, but the closest for me is Judaism. I believe like Bill Buckley believes. He wrote that if he found that he could no longer be Roman Catholic he would be most comfortable in Judaism. He wrote that in a book titled “Nearer My God”.

And the idea that the pope prays for the conversion of Jews is offensive too. RCs claim that the RCC gave us the bible. Where did they get all the OT stuff? The OT stuff is the very basis for Christianity. We are a Judeo-Christian people. Why would the pope want to remove the Jews from the combination.

My sister is converted Jew and I greatly respect her choice. Her husband was a cradle Catholic who also converted to Judaism. They both are very content in their new religion. It’s a very interesting story about how they came to leave Christianity but too long for this discussion.

Ya’all make me reconsider my intent to become an RC. Maybe Jews have it closer to right. I dunno!

Fair enough. I’m just trying to get you thinking.

Taking the NT on faith, I see the hand of God directly involved in Jesus conception. If someone wants to disqualify Jesus on your initial point, that is their perogotive. When the Father calls Jesus his son, for all to hear, I take it on faith He knew what He was talking about.

I dunno either. If a man appears claiming to be the Messiah, without proper lineage documentation, how could anyone believe? Short of God voice coming from the heavens? Mark 1:11

Peace,

Ryan 🙂

Well, that’s an incredibly petty thing to say. So I’ll respond in kind. Maybe you are just fooling yourself in believing that you are capable of having a decent conversation with people who don’t adopt your views.

Jews have accepted Jesus as the Messiah, many of them. For those who don’t, not even if Moses or Abraham come back alive to tell them, they would not accept. For these are the generations that killed and stoned the prophets who were sent for them. Jesus was sent to them but at last his people recieved him not. They crucified him and blood is on their hands.

Their nation is taken away from them, and will not see the light of their salvation, not until they say ‘blessed is he come come in the name of the Lord’.

And that’s right, we can only pray for them for their salvation.

IF Moses and Abraham came over for dinner to disclose the great secrets of the hereafter, and I broached the subject of Jesus, they would most likely say “who?”
As for Jesus’ blood being on my hands, I’d be happy to discuss his with you in pm, but I don’t think you would like what I’d have to say.
