I dont understand why Jews get to get into Heaven if they dont believe in Christ. Did Christ not say himself that no one comes to the Father but through Me? What would happen if we (Christians) were to convert to Judiasm? Would we be banned from Heaven and cast into hell? I just dont think its fair that those of us that abide by the rules Jesus laid down for us have to follow it and Jews dont! Please someone explain this to me?

Judaism is the correct religion FOR JEWS. Gentiles are free to believe whatever they choose to as long as it harms no one.

If you are Christian, you are more than welcome to be one. That is not a matter of debate.

Who said that Jews get into heaven? I don’t believe that.

That’s funny…because your church does. 🙂

Are you projecting hostilities against your Jewish ex-husband onto the Jewish people as a whole?

I feel that is a fair and honest question, considering your admission that you have a Jewish ex-husband, and also witnessing your atrocious behavior toward the Jews on this forum.

Please…🙂 that reminds me of a joke that used to make the rounds when I was a kid. The one about a Protestant going to Heaven, and St Peter shows him around the place.

Then, St Peter says, “Now, we need to walk very quietly past this room here, because that’s where the Catholics are, and they think they’re the only ones here”.

More recently, the joke has been changed to read “Baptists”.

Hi Sepharad,

If I may add my 2 cents, I think it probably a good start to say we all ( Jews included ) should have beliefs that hurt no one.

An open dialouge ( not debate ) can have significant value to all parties.

God bless,
Carl

I do not believe that the Jews are going STRAIGHT to heaven, just like I do not believe we are going straight to heaven. And what happened in my personal life is no business of yours. And if anyone has atrocious behavior toward anyone, it is you with the Catholic church.

Hi Valke2,
Please help me understand your answer ( I am being genuine )

If Jesus somehow proved to you that he is indeed what Christian followers say he is. This would NOT cause you to embrace christianity, and you would not " abandon your current faith ???

God bless,
Carl
That’s correct. First, Jesus revealing himself does not equate to a declaration that the Church is correct in its understanding of him. Second, I don’t believe that, even if God came to earth as a human and died for our sins, that these actions were meant to or should result in Jews abandoning their faith. Rather, I would view this as God’s seperate revelation to nonjews without disturbing my ability to continue to worship Him as a Jew.

If your personal life is none of my business, then why did you admit it publicly in one of the threads? If I had something I wanted to keep private, I certainly wouldn’t blab it on an Internet messageboard, where it will not only be there for all to read, but will be archived via search engines as well.

I only began criticizing your church after many of your members made antisemitic comments about my religion, and tried to convert me to your religion. I feel perfectly justified in what I said, and it was far mellower than what Protestants have said.

So then, I’m supposed to just take any proselytization, insults against my faith, and distorted teachings about my faith lying down?

Nope, that’s not how I operate. I’d think someone with a name like “CathDEFENDER” would understand something like that.

Just as you do not take attacks on your religion lying down, neither do I.

There are three different ways to get to my favorite Ice cream shop. If you take the first route and I take the second, we both get to eat ice cream. One shouldn’t be prohibited from eating ice cream because they got to the store by a different road.

untold millenia of bingo awaits you. I guess us Jews will be spending an eternity in hell playing canasata with 51 cards.

Well, it was my understanding that you came here to attack the Catholic Church because you mother rejected the Church in adulthood and spoke negatively to you about it, coupled with the fact that you have a vendetta against the Church for forcing her ancestors into Catholicism 500 years ago. Have I misunderstood your history and intentions?

I agree and I’m sure that when Sepharad said Christians are free to worship however they like as long as they don’t harm anyone, it was assumed that Jews should worship under the same conditions.

Who said that Jews get into heaven? I don’t believe that.
Like all non-belivers, they can only get into heaven through ‘invincible ignorance’, that is if through no fault of their own they’ve not been taught about Christ, or if they have, but also through no fault of their own (for example without wilful blindness or intellectual or spiritual laziness or what have you) don’t come to accept His teachings and the teachings of His church.

THAT is Catholic teaching.

Of course God used a practicing Jewish rabbi to teach a revelation - only His revelation was solely for the benefit of non-Jews and not for His fellow Jews as well? Talk about doublethink!

If God meant Jesus only for the gentiles stands to reason he’d have made Him a gentile as well.

You sure you didn’t mean mah-jongg? 😃 (I’m in serious trouble, I don’t know how to play it!)

Ah, but we tried that for the first couple of decades until the Jews kicked us out of the faith. Then, there we were, all alone in the big scarry world…

Valke2,
Thank you for the response and the clarification.
I do not think it would be abandoning ( I realize we have different views on this ) I rather think it would be continuation.

Your second half of your response " continue to worship him as a Jew" was very well said in my very humble view. and it was that for wich I was asking clarification on. ( thanks )

God bless,
Carl

Now WHERE did you get THAT “understanding”? My mother converted to Judaism when she was 20 years old, and I made it very clear, many times, that she NEVER badmouthed her former faith. I stated that in threads about people who convert out of Catholicism…that she was one of the very few people I ever knew who did NOT see fit to badmouth her former religion, because many people I have known who switched from one faith to another, DID badmouth their former religion.

And no, I did not originally come here to attack the RCC; I came here after finding this site via Google. It was in March, and I was researching the background of certain Holy Week legends my mother had told me about, from her childhood. The websearcj grew out of a family session where we were reminiscing about things our mother had once told us.

As for a “vendetta” against Catholicism, I have none. I do feel very disappointed, because the Catholics forced my mother’s family to convert to Catholicism when they were in Spain and Italy, thereby causing her family to retain some Jewish customs, but basically not even knowing they were Jews until a family genealogist discovered it centuries later (my mother converted to Orthodox Judaism in 1944, and so it amazed her to learn 40 years later that she was Jewish all along!)

In fact, because of my 30 year involvement in Jewish-Christian ecumenical organizations, I had always had very positive experiences with Catholics as an adult. This is why it especially pained me to learn, in the 1980s, of my maternal family’s sad history as conversos from Spain. I had always had great regard for the Catholic church (even though I had known about the Spanish and other Inquisitions), and learning of my own family’s role in it brought it all “home” to me in a personal way.

But you have GREATLY misunderstood my situation. In fact I don’t even know where you got all that from, but it certainly was not from reading my older posts.

Maybe what you should do it research my OLDER posts, from when I first arrived here…in fact if you read them going from oldest to newer, you will see how things went.
