I would like to confess a
doh! moment experienced while watching the Two Towers. I read the books in college [70’s] and have watched the films a few times; maybe I just forgot this point from the books, but . . . in the scene where the elves show up to support Helm’s Deep, I was suddenly struck by the sacrifice they were making for humanity. And I was further moved by the simple, profound honesty of their motivation: to honor the alliance.
Anyone ever think about the parallels between elves and angels-- for example as an ontologically higher form of being which stoops to serve humanity?
