Transgender and communion?

You distinguish thought and debate fron each other? They’re one and the same in my opinion. Winning/losing is secondary. It’s really only a mechanism for arriving at truth. Which is why, when someone drops out of a topic that implies to me that they were really that interested in the truth or falsity of assertions made.

I think I might refrain from being with them since I don’t really know what to do to help them and I don’t like socializing with people I don’t know.

Yup, that too! I love keeping a tally of how many eye-rolls I can rack up in a day.

Winning doesn’t give me warm fuzzies, but man, those eye-rolls sure do!

Well, your name is “Socrates” so it’s natural that you think of thought and debate as similar.

I am a bear. Most of my spiritual truth doesn’t come from rational thought or cranking through a logical mechanism. More from childlike (bearlike) faith and hope.

Rational thought to me is a mechanism to get along in the world. I engage in that sort of thing as a paying job…that’s kind of where I like to leave it.

Fair enough. Differences in personality then… I think it’s good for all personality types to try to expand by working on their specific weaknesses, but I’ll admit I do like arguing for the fun of it sometimes. What do you do for work if you don’t mind my asking?

I don’t know why people like to make a big deal about Communion. To most people it is just bread and if I were to think that than I would have other things to worry about.

Nah… No warm fuzzy feeling. I’m used to winning arguments. 😛
This illustrates an important point exposed by the thread.
The point of the Christian life is not to win arguments, it is to lead a person to Christ. If you are argument makes sense, and has a logical coherence that satisfies the question, and leads a person to Christ, then great.

But the whole point of having the discussion is the good of the person, not personal victory. Same with the distinction between objective sin and the person. The point of the Gospel is to plant the law in a person’s heart so that we might be saved, not to convict us of offenses for damnation.

Yes, I know. I was being partly facetious. Hard to communicate that in via forum messaging.

Seriously? Anyone taking up the “LGBTABCDEFG” cause is certainly suspect of lacking sanctifying grace.

As someone upthread said, acknowledging one is LGBT in not is sinful. And since the topic is about transgenders, it’s difficult to transition in the smallest way without acknowledging that. I have the benefit of knowing a couple of people who identify as transgender. One I know has not transitioned at all and they are the struggling the most. Transitioning eases the dysphoria and the Church does not teach that transitioning a sin.
