Why does this concern anyone but the Pope and the person he visited with? Such communications are private, for a reason. Should we even be speculating on what was said? If we were all in the same parish, would it be right for you to speculate as to why I was meeting with our parish priest?
A person met with Pope Francis. This should not concern or bother you.
Actually I find it interesting. What they come up with personally is none of my business, except to the extent that Francis decides to make public statements on the issue of trans.
But I do like to hear the types of things our pope is doing, because I honestly believe that he is doing something I never expected to see in my lifetime – to reconcile the “structure” of the Church, with the “mission” of the Church. So far I think the “mission” has been hidden in cloisters while the “structure” kept up the outer defenses against attack. Kind of like the “chewy center” meets the “crunchy outside” of the Church.
We know, for example, that Jesus hung around sinners, and ate and drank with them. We also know that from time to time, He publicly defended them against others who chastised them for – their sexual sins. Seems natural that the Bishop of Rome would want to get to know, on a personal basis, those who are publicly known to have “incorrect sexual orientation” and have felt judgement from those who think their sins (such as pride and anger) are somehow less sinful. But no, we don’t know what He knew about them privately. The only thing He did publicly, was defend them despite the sins that were publicly known already.
So yeah like the earlier poster mentioned, Jesus ate with prostitutes and tax collectors. Why not the transgenders? I’m sure there were those who would have been one, had the technology been available…
And I like to know, as a Catholic, that the man in charge of the Church is doing things I believe Jesus would be doing. So that’s how it is interesting to me, plus of course if Francis writes or teaches about it.
Not about the man personally because yes that is a personal matter. :nope: Jesus didn’t say, “yes I know what kind of woman this is because I eat lunch with her every day and have seen her struggles and let me tell you, you don’t even know the half of it” when she washed His feet with her tears.
