Source that there was a neighborhood watch program in place? Everything I’ve seen has indicated that there was not, that there was just Zimmerman. No, there was a formal neighborhood watch program in place. I belong to such a program. We had to go and listen to a police officer explain what we are charged to do and not to do. We merely patrol our streets with magnetic signs on our car. In our program, we are told specifically NOT to take our weapons with us in the car. I am not sure if everyone obeys this charge, but I do. I take my cell phone with me and if I see anything suspicious, I make a call and leave the area. I do not follow, I do not chase. I do not know if Zimmerman’s neighborhood watch program is under such a charge, not to carry. Even if they are, that is a separate question and has no bearing on this case.
I cannot say if George Zimmerman had a reason to follow Trayvon Martin. I was not there. None of us were. He was told, “You don’t need to do that,” by the dispatcher. Would it have been better had he agreed not to follow Martin? Yes, it would have. That, we all agree on. It is a tragedy that Martin is dead.
I cannot say if Zimmerman was in fear of his life. I was not there. None of us were. I pray that he will get a fair trial, although I can’t see how that will happen.
I’m not trying to be rude, but I haven’t seen anything that shows that and its contrary to everything I’ve read about this.
