Z told the police that he was viewing a
stranger - the stranger seemd “suspicious” to him.

Then … ?
Source for quote? Is there more to the statement from the police?

On the jeckel and hyde statement, there is more that the man said about Zimmerman:

The former co-worker, who is no longer in touch with Zimmerman, said he was shocked to hear what happened Feb. 26 in a gated community in Sanford, Fla.
“He definitely loved being in charge. He loved the power. Still, I could never see him killing someone. Never,” he said.

Really, in Florida? I though the law required release of all investigations?

If his parents (or the public) have no right to answers over a child’s loss of right to life, then all are free to say whatever they feel like and I for one will never be silent about it.
Not while an investigation is being conducted.

Oh, there is more, but as carefully as I listen, there’s NO mention of any wrong behavior, simply conjecture that seems to reside only in the caller’s head.

This post is about media bias/manipulation.

My local evening news referred to the incident as the “gunning down” of … Now when I hear that someone was gunned down, I think that someone purposefully sought out an innocent, defenseless person and shot them with a gun. Like something out of a western. This case had a fistfight first, and we don’t know yet who started it.

Hannity’s TV show played a clip from NBC news where they edited the 911 tape, leaving out the police dispatcher’s questions, making it sound like Zimmerman said something like “he looks suspicious, he’s black.”

This is wrong for the media to do. And I hate being manipulated with, not lies, but words whose purpose is to make me believe a lie. Dissembling, misleading, shading, whatever you want to call it.

So why? As someone else wrote, is it to disarm our citizens? Is it to get the race issue forward to re-elect Obama? Is it to distract us from the religious rights (HHS) issue? IS it simply just to divide and conquer?

Oh he definatley has the right to remain silent, that requires one word…Lawyer.

The medical reports, statements, all that is not public information, they are evidence in a uncoming court case I would assume? This isn’t an accident report, its a Criminal Case.

Is it for parents to understand how a child could be killed for doing nothing?

Why does Zimmerman’s testimony or lack of it limit our right to say what we feel?

He has a right to be silent and that somehow means we must be? Some people need a more accurate sense of their ‘authority’ over the general public.
What’s suspicious about a black kid in a mixed neighborhood walking down the street sippin on tea and eating candy?

It is still going on, in fact there are about 5 investigations now going on.
You will noticed I used both tenses. Was there ever a time when the police investigation was considered practically over?

I have no idea what would be suspicious about that behavior in any neighborhood. Then again, I have no reason to believe he was eating and drinking either. I’ve heard the candy was for his brother.

…He was, even at that age, somebody’s sweet baby - even if he wasn’t perfect. …
…I would suggest that everyone involved who has kids, should be thanking God today that the stuff their kids do when they aren’t looking, has never been used to justify their being shot dead.
That is what is so haunting about this case for me. I have a son who turned 14 in January. He is often mistaken for a grown man, but he doesn’t have the experience or judgment of a grown man. Trayvon is dead at 17. Why? Was his youth and accompanying teen judgment a part of the reason for that? I don’t know if I can articulate my thoughts and feelings, but I’ll try.

I don’t know what happened the night Trayvon died. Perhaps because of his youth, Trayvon tried to react with swagger and bravado to a man following him, not an unusual reaction for a teen, thought he could cow or best the man behind him. It is truly, truly tragic if that possible idea, that possible reaction, cost him his life. Perhaps instead he acted as a violent young man, came out swinging, tried to end Zimmerman as Zimmerman says, but I wasn’t there, so I will wait to see what the investigation reveals. But, I keep thinking about what may have happened that night and I am haunted at the idea that maybe Trayvon was just trying to be tough. He had every right to be where he was, though I don’t know if he was actually acting suspiciously or not as claimed, and maybe he wanted to respond to being challenged by being tough and not backing down, being right, and now he is dead because of it. That thought is what is so horrific to me.

We are not listening to a court of law. Zimmerman is under no obligation to say anything to anyone, but the police. He gave a statement to them, which is more than I can say for Martin’s girlfriend.

The police are also under no obligation to release Zimmerman’s statement.

Sorry, but you don’t have a right to know what he said to the police.
Sorry, but the 911 call from Z has been quoted endlessly.
That call is being referenced here.

Yes, that is horrific to many of us, especially because his girlfriend apparently told him to run and he refused to run, saying “I’m not going to run, I’m just going to walk fast.”

Are you joking?
Z’s 911 call has been repeated (verbatim) and quoted endlessly.
I’m not kidding. If you state something as fact you need to provide a link here. It is in the forum rules.

By the way, here is something to help out. From CNN: [What witnesses say in Trayvon Martin case](http://forums.catholic-questions.org/What witnesses say in Trayvon Martin case)
Zimmerman called police to report a suspicious person. He described Martin as black and said he was acting strangely and could have been on drugs…
“Something’s wrong with him,” he told a 911 dispatcher, according to the contents of a call released by authorities. “Yep. He’s coming to check me out. He’s got something in his hands.”
So he said he was “acting strangely and could have been on drugs.”

By the way, the article: What witnesses say in Trayvon Martin case has a lot of information on what others saw that night.

This is a new picture of Trayvon that I haven’t seen before. The article said it was recent.

It very well may have been that he thought everyone was suspicious. Don’t know, but looking suspicious is very subjective.

In regards to the shooting, it’s irrelevant. Zimmerman isn’t justifying shooting Martin because Martin looked suspicious. Looking suspicious to someone is justification for calling the police, which is what he did with that suspicion.

I don’t either. Therefore you can only assume, why make any personal conclusions based on ignorance? I would think it might be wiser, if one must assume, to draw a conclusion that Martin wasn’t innocently walking down the street minding his own business.

The media has behaved in a descipable manner in the way they have handled this case. You ask very good questions as to why they have done what they have done.
