I’m sorry but do you have any idea what Norway is like and what Nigeria is like? Just one statistic, you are twenty times more likely to be murdered in Nigeria. Twenty times!

But again, Trump didn’t mention race, you did. Who is it then that is the racist?
Your head is in the sand.

Trump was talking about keeping certain people out, even though they make a significant contribution to this country.

So first, he was talking about instituting “merit-based” immigration -

And then talking about keeping the most successful immigrants out

Why is that?

The country of origin apparently doesn’t matter. Oh, wait, I’m wrong. It DOES matter! People from some of the sh*thole countries are MORE successful than Americans or Norwegians.

BUT, let’s keep them out? WHY? WHY? WHY?

No they aren’t in a general sense. In a general sense Nigerians are not desirable immigrants. Some may be, but less as a percentage than from other countries.
Why not?
The main reason we don’t want to let them in is they will be subject to vile racism. For their own sake we must protect them from this. Why would you want these poor people to suffer so? Unless of course you don’t really believe the US is racist.
I never said anything about racism. So in my mind, protecting someone from potential racism is not a reason not to let them come to the US.

No potential, systematic institutionalized racism and, apparently, a racist president. Look, I know the real answer. Racism is just a club used to beat up White people. The people who use it don’t really even believe it as evidenced by the fact they know African immigrants would have a fair shake in this country. If there was any truth to the racism claims you’d want to warn these people away.

Listen, I NEVER SAID A WORD ABOUT RACISM! I have already repeated myself once, if you can’t get that through your skull, there is nothing I can do. You give no coherent reason why Nigerians should not be allowed to immigrate to the US.

“The specific dissonance of Trumpism—advocacy for discriminatory, even cruel, policies combined with vehement denials that such policies are racially motivated—provides the emotional core of its appeal. It is the most recent manifestation of a contradiction as old as the United States, a society founded by slaveholders on the principle that all men are created equal.”

“The plain meaning of Trumpism exists in tandem with denials of its implications; supporters and opponents alike understand that the president’s policies and rhetoric target religious and ethnic minorities, and behave accordingly. But both supporters and opponents usually stop short of calling these policies racist. It is as if there were a pothole in the middle of the street that every driver studiously avoided, but that most insisted did not exist even as they swerved around it.”

I never said you said it. I said it as did plenty of other people. I offered it as my reason for why we shouldn’t admit certain people. It is a coherent argument, even if you don’t see it.

As soon as other countries even come close to the generosity in immigration of this nation, I’ll pay attention to them. Until then, they have nothing to say to me.

“It was 1990 and David Duke, the former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, astonished political observers when he came within striking distance of defeating incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator J. Bennett Johnston, earning 43 percent of the vote. “

“A few days after Duke’s strong showing, the Queens-born businessman Donald Trump appeared on CNN’s Larry King Live.

“ ‘It’s anger. I mean, that’s an anger vote. People are angry about what’s happened. People are angry about the jobs. If you look at Louisiana, they’re really in deep trouble,’ Trump told King.

“Trump later predicted that Duke, if he ran for president, would siphon most of his votes away from the incumbent, George H. W. Bush—in the process revealing his own understanding of the effectiveness of white-nationalist appeals to the GOP base.
‘Whether that be good or bad, David Duke is going to get a lot of votes. Pat Buchanan—who really has many of the same theories, except it’s in a better package—Pat Buchanan is going to take a lot of votes away from George Bush,’ Trump said. ‘So if you have these two guys running, or even one of them running, I think George Bush could be in big trouble.’ Little more than a year later, Buchanan embarrassed Bush by drawing 37 percent of the vote in New Hampshire’s Republican primary.

“In February 2016, Trump was asked by a different CNN host about the former Klan leader’s endorsement of his Republican presidential bid. ‘Well, just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke. Okay?,’ Trump said. ‘I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So I don’t know…’ “

I think the discussion is about the language and behaviour of the president, not the US record of generosity. So while the subject matter moves on (remarks about women, remarks about other countries,…), the point remains the language and behaviour of the president, not of the US.

So Trump = Duke = racist, right? The thing is Trump hasn’t made any racist comments. The only racists are the ones who constantly interpret Trump’s decisions in terms of race. They are willing to go so far as to pretend like impoverished, crime ridden countries aren’t really so and that it isn’t the people from them who make it that way.

Well, in that case we don’t want to admit Norwegians since we wouldn’t want to make them become racist in order to support our culture.

I would guess because our cultures are more alike, although it seems to me people from Norway would be more liberal than people from Africa or Haiti.

This is we need a system like Australia has and for Trump to keep some things to himself.

But before everyone meme’s themselves on the race card, you would be wise to note the cultural differences between American Blacks and Blacks from other parts of the world. It’s not PC exactly, but is true.

Trump lied about knowing “anything” about David Duke - when he clearly knew quite a bit about David Duke and his success in LA. I would expect anyone running for Presidebt to know who Duke is and what he is about - or maybe he is too ignorant to be running for President. I would also expect anyone running for President to disavow white supremacy. Maybe Trump had a convenient loss of memory in order to avoid having to disavow white supremacy - like he did at the time when white supremist marched at Charlottesville.

Would this be a good time for me to talk about Democrats who only voted for Barack Obama because (and I quote) “I’m really voting for Joe Biden, and not Barack Obama”.

What did he know about Duke at the time he was asked? Did you expect him to follow Duke’s career or lack thereof? I doubt he did.

So Trump is a White Supremacist because he said he didn’t know ‘anything’ about David Duke when he had some knowledge of him from over twenty years ago. And he is a White Supremacist because he hasn’t disavowed White Supremacy, or didn’t explicitly until some point in time.

That means most people I know are a White Supremacists since they haven publicly disavowed it. It apparently isn’t hard to be a White Supremacist these days. It used to be you actually had to espouse the belief you were accused of having.
