What’s the implication? First, that ISIS would rather hit the Vatican than hit the US, which, well, I’d say if they wanted to hit the Vatican as badly as they wanted to hit the Pentagon, it would be Our Lord and not Donald Trump standing in the way. The second is that ISIS will have no power to attack where Trump doesn’t allow it after he’s elected. That was a pretty arrogant thing to say. (Right up there with the absurd “JV” claim, yes…)
Otherwise, well, blame Donald Trump for whatever ISIS does, because he’s President and he can stop it. (No, he can’t. The President of the United States is not that powerful.)
No, actually, I look up the stuff he says myself. We have the internet, we can do that. Yeah, he makes stuff up. He makes a LOT of stuff up. You can dicker about how many lies it is when he makes the same absurd claim over and over and over, but either he is willing to lie or else he doesn’t let his ignorance of the facts get in the way of making a juicy sound bite. He has no moral standing to criticize the NYT or anybody else. He says what sells papers himself. It’s too bad that Trump didn’t get what he deserved for painting immigrants from Mexico the way he did. It was a lot worse than saying half of them had hateful attitudes. He painted them as mostly intrinsically bad people… at least that’s what most people take from “and some, I assume, are good people.” Wow, he could imagine some were an exception. How big of him.

She made a mistake in what she said because ultimately her task is to form a more perfect Union. Not because the traits she mentioned is not present to whatever degree.
From her perspective, the most racist would be in her face. Perhaps that affects her perception.
