Trump campaigned against Muslims, but will preach tolerance in Saudi speech

I accept that apology. 👍

Although I still think his use of p*ssy was vulgar and he did not apologize for that.

Now, when he apologizes for:
-wanting to build a wall to keep brown, poor people out
-making fun of a disabled person
-insulting a gold star family
-insulting Mrs. Obama for not wearing a headscarf while going to the Middle East, but…wait,…Melania didn’t wear a headscarf…:hmmm:
-dismissing McCain’s POW status
-banning people because they’re brown and worship differently from re-entering the US
-banning people like Omar because he’s poor and a child
-removing health care for millions of people because, hey, they had it coming. They should have been working. And the fatty folks have it coming, anyway
-having the most absurd reason for being prolife
-calling one of the most erudite, articulate, thoughtful columnists “a dummy” “if you take his glasses away from him”
-punishing poor women for being pregnant
-cheating on his wife
-cheating on his other wife
-not disavowing David Duke when the Klansman endorsed him
-the Mexican rapist thing
-the women thing…
Have fun when it comes to your own list.

I don’t condemn non Catholics (or Catholics) for failed marriages but I agree that if there are a string of multiple wives and a plethora of extra marital girlfriends then it is a sign of someone not having the Catholic perspective.
Do you agree that it is an example of someone not having a moral compass?

Also, I am going to delete all of those examples of horrible things Trump has done and has not apologized for. Hope you read them already

I can say, with great assurance and certainty: I haven’t done a single one of those things.

BTW: Tu Quoque is a fallacy.

My sinfulness doesn’t give Trump permission to have done ANY of those things.

And if you’re going to go on this vein, queen, then you’ll have to be prepared to keep your mouth shut on every single objection you have to Hillary, yes?

Because, of course you have your own list, right?

So please don’t permit for yourself what you object to in others.

It’s unbecoming.

I see people who view Trump, someone who said he grabs a woman by the p*ssy (and think about this–if it’s offensive to read this here…what does that mean about the man who actually PROFESSES this is his due), as the leader of the Party of Family Values, as irrational…yes.

It’s a disturbing cognitive dissonance that boggles the mind.

It should also cause great consternation that the Party of Family Values has, just among its top 2 leaders, 6 wives between them.

No Catholic should be endorsing this.
Has a single woman come forward and claimed Trump grabbed them? A quick Google search reveals lots of outrage about the comments but no evidence he was doing anything more than engaging in some “trash talk”. And yeah, he’s been married a few times. Lots of people have. None of his ex-wives seem to have much bad to say about him now. It’s not optimal, but considering there’s pretty strong evidence his opponent colluded in her husband actually raping a woman, I’m not sure I see preferring Trump to be irrational. Even the Church would draw the line at “Standing By Your Man” there.

Oh. So you think Trump lied. He didn’t really grab women by the p******
Even though he said he did.

Ok, then. That’s another example of moral turpitude in the Oval Office.

Except for the cheating part. The adultery. The breaking of a commandment. The dismissal of a vow.

Except for that part, right?
Even the Church would draw the line at “Standing By Your Man” there.
I don’t know. I don’t think the Church has a teaching on whether Hillary could have morally divorced Bill.

Can you offer a link to what teaching you’re referencing?

If you had any male friends you’d be familiar with the concept of “talking trash”. It’s a ritual heterosexual men engage in when they’re without the wives, usually, but not always over a few beers.

Then why was it so imperative that Obama and Hillary had to use the word “radical”? Trump, Christie, Guiliani, et al all demanded we had to accurately qualify the terrorism as RADICAL Islamic terrorism so that we could properly identify our enemy. Why can’t Trump do the very thing he demanded of Obama? Why can’t he call it “RADICAL” Islamic terrorism? Is Radical Islamic terrorism no longer a threat to the U.S.? 🤷
I don’t think they liked using the word terrorism period!

But Islamic terrorism has been flourishing in Saudi Arabia, too. Most of the 9/11 highjackers were from Saudi Arabia, but Saudi Arabia was not on the Trump administration’s list of banned countries.
I imagine terrorism will be a topic of discussion while Trump is in Saudi Arabia.

Emm…no. If any man talks like that to you, you should run.

Men don’t talk like that. At least, not men who are men of good moral character.

And this is another example of the delusional supporter of Trump. “We love him because he’s prolife!” but every action and statement he makes supports the idea the prolife movement strove so hard to advance: “Live in this manner, and abortion happens”.

It used to be that Prolife voters said, “Character matters”.

Now, when it’s clear that the Character is soooooo lacking, suddenly, character doesn’t matter.

A reporter from Prople magazine claims he forcibly kissed her after an interview. Another woman claims he molested her on a plane. He has a settlement with a woman for sexual harassment.

Ivana wife number one, confided to friends she felt raped after an encounter with him. All on google

If I remember correctly, he said it was some kind of locker room banter private conversation happening some ten years ago, perhaps when he was more into the world. Anyway he had apologized for it.

Generally as a Catholic, I would let that go and forgive. The guy apologized, the blurting out something as vulgar as that hurt him now that he is President, and which can be used against him.

It was certainly a personal weakness and we expected better from a President though we would have heard there were also past Presidents who had done even much worse. The difference was they did not brag about it, only being caught in doing so.

Guessing you’ve never been in the military. Or ever been around anybody who’s ever been in the military.

I imagine terrorism will be a topic of discussion while Trump is in Saudi Arabia.
Where do you get these ideas?
The point was to call terrorism terrorism, and to avoid adding the religious dimension, as though Muslims are inherently terrorists.

The British had a problem with Irish who wanted them off the island. Had their called the action of their opponents Catholic terrorism, that would be objectionable. The terrorism is not properly a characteristic of the faith or of the faithful.

Guessing you’ve never been in the military. Or ever been around anybody who’s ever been in the military.
Even if this were an excuse, how does this excuse Trump who’s also “never been in the military”.

It’s like saying that racism is ok because that’s what they do in the South.

(Apologies to my Southern friends. It’s an analogy only and where there is disparity between what you experience in the South and what I’m referencing, that should be acknowledged).

“[T]he idea that the robustly vulgar, fiercely combative, and morally compromised as Trump will be an avatar for the restoration of Christian morality and social unity is beyond delusional. He is not a solution to America’s cultural decline, but a symptom of it.”–

From The American Conservative: “Christians Tempted by Trump Idolatry”
you answered his question twice. It makes me laugh when the democrats hate of Trump makes them come unglued. Please feel free to inform us of what a bastion of morality Mrs. Clinton would have been. Another laugh is always welcome.

I sure that you well know that he started calling the “ban” temporary in May 2016. If things lasted forever, then Obama would still believe marriage was just between a man and woman.

Isn’t a temporary ban, that he had developed by 1 year ago better? It’s smart the man that can compromise. You are spinning this falsely and you know it now and you knew it before.
I applaud his evolution, and hope for much more evolution. His foreign policy is becoming more and more just like that of his predecessors. That is progress.

But his past words will inevitably present obstacles. They should be owned and apologized for. Bringing them is not spin nor is it infair. Prentending that they never happened? That is spin and just untrue.

I think you may be confusing me with another poster, pancake.

I have barely made a blip on this thread, so not sure what you’re actually referencing.
If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m not sure how I can explain to you that what I said was a response to your post that was quoted.

Yeah, I don’t take part in it myself but I recognise it for what it was. The fact that the other guy was constantly laughing suggests Trump was horsing around, although for me it was in very bad taste and not very mature.

If more than ten years later a tape of it surfaces and Trump apologises then for me, that’s that.

It is not a definite bar on becoming President especially when the other candidate is likely a lying crook.

Where do you stand on the morally compromised St Paul and St Augustine?
You do understand, don’t you, that we venerate them not their moral compromise, but for turning away from it, and showing profound fruits of repentence.
