If they are protestant or Orthodox, they do not believe that divorce and remarriage is wrong so it is not a mortal sin. For it to be a mortal sin, you have to have full knowledge and they do not.
Great news, folks!

The next pornographer can read the above and declare: it’s totally fine for me to take pictures of naked women and post them, because I don’t think it’s wrong.

Adding to the irony, here’s some more things which we can declare to be perfectly legit, just as long as the actors don’t think it’s wrong:

This throuple, a bisexual couple and their husband, raising a child together: nypost.com/2017/05/18/two-bisexual-women-and-their-husband-love-parenting-as-threesome/

Here, argue with the Catechism of the Catholic Church

1857 For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must together be met: "Mortal sin is sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent."131

1858 Grave matter is specified by the Ten Commandments, corresponding to the answer of Jesus to the rich young man: "Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and your mother."132 The gravity of sins is more or less great: murder is graver than theft. One must also take into account who is wronged: violence against parents is in itself graver than violence against a stranger.

1859 Mortal sin requires full knowledge and complete consent. It presupposes knowledge of the sinful character of the act, of its opposition to God’s law. It also implies a consent sufficiently deliberate to be a personal choice. Feigned ignorance and hardness of heart133 do not diminish, but rather increase, the voluntary character of a sin.

if they don’t know it is wrong, it is not a mortal sin as mortal sin requires full knowledge.

Tell that to the pornographer, the adulterer, the polygamist family, the mercy killer.

I’m sure they’ll be happy to hear that they have your permission to keep on keeping on.

That is not my opinion or teaching. It is the teaching of the Catholic Church. I didn’t write the Catechism but I did read it.

Did you read the article? The hospital investigated and found nothing wrong and the police had yet to investigate. I don’t know what she did and didn’t do because it hasn’t yet played out. Neither do you but you call her a killer.

Regardless, according to the Catholic Church and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, mortal sin requires full knowledge. Therefore, if one does something that they do not think is wrong, it is not mortal sin. If you think your opinion is better than that of the Church, perhaps you should pursue it with your Bishop rather than calling the Church a liar.

Speaking of the Catechism, I recommend you read it before continuing your apologetics blog. You can find it here on the website of the Vatican. vatican.va/archive/ccc/index.htm

I have found it better to read the Catechism in its entirety.

Perhaps you missed this:
2384 Divorce is a grave offense against the natural law. It claims to break the contract, to which the spouses freely consented, to live with each other till death. Divorce does injury to the covenant of salvation, of which sacramental marriage is the sign. Contracting a new union, even if it is recognized by civil law, adds to the gravity of the rupture: the remarried spouse is then in a situation of public and permanent adultery:
If a husband, separated from his wife, approaches another woman, he is an adulterer because he makes that woman commit adultery, and the woman who lives with him is an adulteress, because she has drawn another’s husband to herself.

I have found it better to read the Catechism in its entirety.

Perhaps you missed this:
Why so obsessed with sex and divorce, especially concerning somebody else who is currently living in peace?

And just to be clear: no one here has been saying that Trump, with his 3 wives, and Bannon, with his 3 wives, are in mortal sin.

That they are doing objective wrong is certain.

That the Catechism states this is morally wrong is absolute. (And note, it doesn’t say: only Catholics can’t divorce and re-marry. Presbyterians are given a pass because Jesus didn’t mean divorce and re-marriage is adultery for everyone. Just Catholics)

That there are 6 wives between the top 2 men in the Party of Family Values is ironic. And amusing.

That Catholics overlook this when “Character Matters” used to be a paradigm of great primacy is curious indeed.

“Character Matters” except when the Chief Executive’s character in matters below the belt (which we have continuously said leads to abortion) is so objectionable.

So peculiar.

I’ve read it but am surprised you have as you don’t seem to have adequate knowledge of what mortal sin is and is not or you just don’t understand it.

Regardless, if someone does something they do not think is a sin, it is not a mortal sin. That is full knowledge that is required. Most of this country has accepted that abortion, divorce, remarriage, gay marriage etc., is not wrong. If they think it isn’t a sin, then it cannot be a mortal sin.

Just because the Catholic Church plainly states something is a sin, that doesn’t mean that people that are not Catholic or think the Catholic Church is teaching it wrong, are required to believe the same thing. If they don’t have full knowledge, it is not a mortal sin.

If a mortal sin requires you to have full knowledge, what if you don’t have full knowledge? Is it a mortal sin? How can it be if it doesn’t have one of the requirements that is taught by the Catholic Church? You’re not arguing with me. You’re arguing with the Church. Just because you read, certainly doesn’t mean you totally understood it and this proves it.

It takes a lot of energy to focus that much on someone’s marital history.

Because the Prolife movement has continuously said “Do this, and abortion happens”.

And Trump’s life has been the avatar for the “this”.

It’s just astonishing to hear Prolifers, who once objected vehemently to the “this”, now support the “this”.

It does not compute.

What you desire is purity that will prove intransigent. It also doesn’t seem to be the way the Lord works in the world. He has used king David, Samson, Solomon, Saul turned Paul, and many people with a colored history to accomplish his purposes. God can use whomever he chooses. Don’t get so hung up by somebody’s past. It gets exhausting.

Just so we are clear to the lurkers who may be scandalized by the above:
Mercy Killings are the same as Murder.

We are not permitted to kill someone’s baby just because we think it’s in their best interest.

And even if we don’t think it’s wrong, it’s WRONG.

To hear a person declare that something isn’t wrong if he doesn’t believe it’s wrong is just diabolical.

So even Hillary, yeah? God could have used Hillary.

Just saying…any argument you use about how it’s perfectly fine for Trump to be impure could be applied to Hillary as well.

Yes God can even use Hillary, but she didn’t get picked. So I say let Trump give it a go. Don’t get bogged down by his past. Everyone has their own skeletons in the closet.

Character used to matter to Catholics. Sadly, now it doesn’t matter one whit, and I am appalled by that.
The way to not get appalled by other people’s character is to realize our own lack. Just saying.
