Trump family’s elaborate lifestyle is a ‘logistical nightmare’ — at taxpayer expense

If you really look into what many of these costs are and how wasteful they are, its apparent why it is so expensive, example, I watched a piece about everything that went into Obama traveling somewhere spur of the moment so to speak, like visiting a site after a natural disaster, they had 2 extra fuel tanks waiting at each stop for the plane, it was something like 50,000lbs of fuel, they also had 2 backup planes in case something happened, etc etc Many of the costly things involved ended up never being used.

I realize its all done for safety of the president, but cmon, some of this is ridiculous and completely overboard.

How is President Trump profiting from this?

One thing that gets lost in this discussion is that the level of protection for the Trump family is more than what we have seen in prior presidencies due to the violent protests that began before he even took office. Specifically, the additional security for their home in NYC is largely to keep the area clear for the safety of other residents and those doing business in the neighborhood.

The Trump family is the first in recent memory to include working adults AND a school age child. That is a complicated security situation regardless of who the individuals are since it involves multiple physical locations.
I agree with most of your post, but the Trump family is not the first in recent memory to have school age children. Remember Malia and Sasha?

And adult children…so, the first in recent memory to have a school age child and adult aged children

He is going to be impeached. If the Republican members of Congress don’t or won’t see the writing on the wall, 2018 is going to be a bad year for them.

And 2020 will be worse.
Impeached for what? What is the charge? Why do you keep throwing this out there with absolutely zero evidence of an impeachable offense?

Trump’s activities are not hitting everyone equally. Some of the businesses in Mar-a-Lago are especially hard hit and may be forced to close.
Some excerpts:

LANTANA, Fla. – President Donald Trump’s frequent visits to Mar-a-Lago have companies at a nearby airport in a financial nosedive.

The Secret Service closed Lantana Airport on Friday for the third straight weekend because of the president’s return to his Palm Beach resort, meaning its maintenance companies, a banner-flying business and another two dozen businesses are also shuttered, costing them thousands of dollars at the year’s busiest time.

The banner-flying company says it has lost more than $40,000 in contracts already.
The airport and its 28 businesses have an economic impact of about $27 million annually and employ about 200 people full-time, many of them making about $30,000 a year. They don’t get paid when the airport is closed.

Miller is already losing a helicopter company, which is moving so as not to deal with the closures. That will cost him $440,000 in annual rent and fuel sales.
Marian Smith, owner of Palm Beach Flight Training, said her 19-year-old business is losing 24 flights daily when closed and three students cancelled. She lost $28,000 combined the last two weekends and will lose $18,000 on this President’s Day weekend. She estimates her 19 instructors are each losing up to $750 a weekend.

“What’s frustrating is that we get little notice when this is going to happen,” she said.
David Johnson, owner of Palm Beach Aircraft Services, said his 27-year-old repair and maintenance business generates $2 million in sales annually, but has taken a hit over the last month and he fears it will cascade if flight schools like Smith’s close. He has written a letter he hopes gets delivered to Trump this weekend asking him, one businessman to another, to help resolve the conflict.

I thought this about Obama, and I think it aout Trump: they really need to think about what they are doing and how much it costs before they do it.

OTOH, some of the stuff the Secret Service does is over the top. There should be a limit on the budget, and then the President has to sort out how he’s going to stay in the budget or maybe lower the level.

It’s hard to believe they cause all this disruption to other people and then miss guys running across the White House lawn…

In addition, Congress has decided to “slow walk” President Trump’s cabinet appointments, so basically he has to run the whole government by himself until the Senate gets around to approving his cabinet members.
All the more reason he shouldn’t be taking vacations.

And whose fault is it if he’s having a hard time getting people to work for him?

If it wasn’t for the goofy protests and angry mobs on your side, it might be cheaper.
Cause, effect

There have been lots of first families with school age children. But the Trumps are the first, to my recollection with BOTH grown working children AND school age children.

Lots of firsts for our President

He hasn’t taken any vacations. When a president takes a vacation, it is a pleasure trip mostly clear of official obligations. Weekends are not vacations. And so far, even President Trump’s weekends have been full of official obligations.
And whose fault is it if he’s having a hard time getting people to work for him?
The “slow walking” isn’t related to getting people to work with him. It is the insistence of the Democratic leadership of taking a full 30 hours to give speeches on each nominee **after **the vetting and committee work is already done. They have not only stalled the nominations but made it nearly impossible for the Senate to work on anything else.

We can be thankful that the democrats are clogging up the process. Government is best that governs least. We have got along just fine without cabinet secretaries confirmed. Just makes you wonder how important they really are.

However, Melania and Barron will only remain at Trump Tower until the end of this school year and then relocate to the White House. In addition, Trump has said that he will not really be taking any vacations, and so the money Obama spent on his vacations will not be spent.

May God bless you all! 🙂

I believe that Jimmy Carter was in the same situation, but all of his children were with Rosalynn.
