We get up at 12 and start to work at one,

Take an hour for lunch and then at 2 we’re done, jolly good fun!
 
Change the room into what, Monte? Seriously, these are the things that keep you up at night?
 
He also is forgoing a yearly salary and giving it back to different departments of the government so he is saving taxpayers money.
 
I never said his salary in any way covered his travel expenses for a year! That would be ridiculous.

The thread title is about President Trump and his family staying at his New Jersey
golf course until mid-August.
 
And the fact that you and I are PAYING his golf course for the vacation.
 
He is still saving us money by donating his
salary. 4 years times $400,000 equals
$1, 600,000.00.
 
We’d be paying someone. What is funny is Trump is being criticized for actually using the product he makes. He is criticized for finding the product he makes sufficient for his needs. This is unlike all other presidents. I mean Obama, Bush II, and Clinton sure didn’t dare send their kids to the government schools they helped produce. They didn’t stand behind the product they made.
 
Let’s try it this way.

You were going to hire me to do a job, and you will pay me $400.

I say “no no, I am going to give you back that money”.

I then require you to come and spend far more than $400 at my business, I give you no choice, your only option is to pay the bill I send you and it is for far, far more than $400.

Did I REALLY give you anything?
 
What about his statement (linked above, video, no twisted words) that he would not take vacations?

And you honestly do not think it is unethical to make money off being President while in office?

I didn’t believe he would take no vacations. I considered that hyperbole. Personally I wish government officials were always on vacation.

Presidents all get rich from being president. Clinton left office broke and ended up a multi millionaire not long after. Obama seems to be doing very well for a community organizer.
 
Yes. We aren’t paying him to take a vacation.

He stays at his golf course, and charges the US for the stay, and the stay for all the security.

The bill is paid to Trump golf course.

It isn’t like when Bush would go to the Ranch. That was a private home, not a club that he’d make money from.

George Washington didn’t want to accept a salary, but was forced to. So the three that didn’t/don’t accept a presidential salary were/are:
H. Hoover
J. Kennedy
D. Trump

And I will not be surprised if some genius here says that I am incorrect because Pres. Trump is forced by law to accept one whole dollar per year. :roll_eyes:

Capitalism is all about providing services for others. It is why is it so incredibly successful as an economic model.

Which I am sure largely goes to kitchen, cleaning, maintenance and security staff as well as to outside suppliers funding American jobs. MAGA. Another example of the benefits of capitalism.
