Fair enough. But perhaps some of the hard feelings come from false notions that if you don’t support Trump you must be an abortion loving liberal.

I have no idea why you would say it is
demeaning to use Obamacare. That was his baby, the big platform issue he ran on and wanted to cram down everyone else’s throat whether we liked it or not.

If it would have been affordable, I might have considered buying it, but as soon as I found out the prices- no way!

The premiums went up as did the fines.
People were already suffering from the severe real estate recession and stock market crash then Obama wanted to punish us forcing us to buy Obamacare and then pay a fine if we didn’t.

I will never call it ACA because it was not
affordable! The only good thing was it covered pre-existing conditions.

If you were to uae the earch function here to tweak your recollection, you would find that you are wrong about this.
I think the Cheeto incident should be a lesson here. We had Trump supporters claiming that Trump critics were frequently calling him cheeto. The actually data, however, showed a very different story.

That is interesting. In my work, I have personally known dozens of people who were able to obtain coverage under the ACA, their premiums are based on their ability to pay. They range from the $20 per month plan that my husband has to the most expensive that I have seen, $170 per month.

That is significantly less than what it would cost, for example, for my husband to be carried on my group policy. That would cost me $700 per month. More than our rent.

You are implying, I suppose, that everyone who calls it Obamacare is doing it as an insult to Obama. I think that is a stretch too far. It has been called that by all members of the press. It is a common term and to think it is meant by all is an insult is just looking for something to complain about.

Call it what you want but Trump owns it now. And if you find the premiums too high or insurance won’t cover your medical expenses, go cry to your current leader not the past one.

When I was looking at plans in 2009 or 2010, I can’t remember, the cheapest plan
was over $300/month. That was not affordable. I stopped looking after that.

It was called “Obamacare” to tie President Obama directly to the act, an act that Republicans felt would surely fail and be ruled unconstitutional. They hoped to essentially tie a milestone around his neck politically. Thanks to Justice Kennedy and Judge Kavanaugh’s creative license in interpreting English, this did not come to pass. It was not meant primarily to be insulting. I also recall the term “Romneycare” thrown out to describe Massachusetts’ state health plan for the same reasons.

Regardless, the ACA is very well known as Obamacare, if not more well known as Obamacare, both by those who don’t like the act and those who support it. It is no more or less insulting than it is to refer to a certain catholic university as interchangeably the Fighting Irish or Notre Dame.

Except some people mean it as an insult to him. Those people who use it that way often get upset at anything that is said negative about Trump. If I were to say something as mild as I don’t like his hairstyle, I would be condemned by those people as a hater.

And yes, some of those people are in this site. It will be interesting to see how they spin this.

When exactly did Obamacare become insulting to Obama?
This is the first I have ever heard of it being an insult. It seems like another invention by the left.

All those who say they won’t call it ACA because they felt it wasn’t affordable for them are calling it Obamacare as a sneer.

Be honest, you didn’t like the act.

Sally, just because I did not like the idea of
Obamacare does not mean that by using the term Obamacare I am wanting to insult our ex-president. Obamacare is the term that has been used from the beginning from what I remember and no one in the 10 years I have been on CAF has ever accused anyone of insulting our ex-president by using this name unti
now.

Well then, I apologize for accusing you of insulting our ex-president on this issue if you do not now mean it as an insult.

I have never meant Obamacare as a way of insulting the president. That was the term used for his healthcare plan I thought originally and it stuck.

Democrats are trying to ban low-cost health insurance that covers less than ObamaCare. They claim they’re protecting the public from what Sen. Chuck Schumer calls “junk insurance.” Don’t believe it.

In truth, they’re sabotaging middle-class consumers who’ve been priced out of ObamaCare.

The Affordable Care Act requires all health plans to cover 10 categories of medical care that Washington politicians deem “essential.” Everything from maternity (even if you’re in your 50s) to substance-abuse treatment. It’s like passing a law saying the only car you can buy is a fully loaded SUV. Some people just need wheels.

If you need health insurance, basic coverage without the costly extras sure beats being uninsured.

Trouble is, ObamaCare is a budget buster. Premiums for 2019 will be about triple what they were six years ago. Not a problem for buyers who get subsidized by Uncle Sam. But it’s a big problem if you earn more than $48,560 individually or $65,840 as a couple, and can’t get a subsidy.
