Can you identify substance in Ingrham’s remarks? Did you notice the litany of as hominems there?

Nope. I have talked of the content her remarks: their lack of cogent content. As such, there is no real argument to contradict, counter, or refute. I have invited your thoughts on the argument, but thus far you have not accepted that invitation,preferring apparently to opine about me.

I don’t think the anti Trumper’s know what they want.They constantly chastise Trump for his bad boy behaviors and in the same breath ridicule Pence for being just the opposite of Trump

If you read Will’s article, you would find that his criticism is not his decency, but his subordinatng that apparent decency to pander with "no purpose beyond serving his political standing by greasily “ingratiating himself with his audience of the moment.”

That is the central point, but his critics do not really address that; they can’t seem to get beyond Theo520’s bottom three rungs.

Don’t all VP’s pander to their President? It comes with the job.Everything thing recTrump is under a microscope and open for relentless critcism,including Pence.
 
Maybe George Will can’t meet the same standards of decency as Vice President Pence. and he is bothered by that.

If you read the article, you will find that he did criticize Pence, and the entire cabinet were criticized for their interaction with Trump at the infamous say-something-about -how-great-I-am cabinet meeting.

But the trigger for the article was Pence’s putting aside self-respect and respect for the law to declare himself honored to be in the presence of "a grandstanding, camera-chasing bully and darling of the thuggish right, [who] is also a criminal, convicted of contempt of court for ignoring a federal judge’s order to desist from certain illegal law enforcement practices. Pence moreover went so far as to praise this convict as “a tireless champion of . . . the rule of law.”

Will selected some words from Lincoln to present a contrasting perspective held by a man of decency.

I wonder how such a grandstanding, camera chasing bully and darling of the thuggish right (my, aren’t we in a hateful mood this morning) manage to get re-elected for so many years? some citizens must have felt he was doing a good job or he probably wouldn’t have lasted long as sheriff. of course, i forgot, you are the expert on law and life in Maricopa County, Arizona.
 
Why all the whinging about the tent city?
If it was good enough for our Military, it was obviously functional.

A survey of inmates actually showed the majority preferred the open air vs being in a cement jail cell,
and not having air conditioning is hardly cruel. Even the new Sheriff confirmed Tent City was a preferred facility by inmates, a statement he made to justify that it was not a deterrent.

If, by chance your “we” is meant include me, I ask again that you abide by forum rules o discuss content, not your perceptions on my tone; you may also wish to consult Theo520; great graphic for further incentive. More importantly, it was, in fact, my tone, but Will’s: I repeated my quotation from him for the sake of of a poster who seemed to have missed the central criticism in the article.

On the multiple elections, I would again refer you to the article, in which Will described the Arapio as
“sheriff of Maricopa County until in 2016 voters wearied of his act”. I have not made any claim to expertise on Maricopa county, but I that the record does show that as his criminal behavior came to the fore he lost his re-election bid, as noted in the article.

How I feel?

I feel that need to quote and requote from the article since so few commenters seem to be reading it.
I feel that character of our President matters, and our willingness to elect people of bad character and to be dismissive of the importance of their character bodes great ill for the nation.
 
I would not praise George Will in regards to his evaluation of VP Pence. Actually, I do not praise him for anything else as well. It seems dishonest to be totally displeased with what another states about important matters or people, to demean and insult a Christian for their Faith, etc; and then how they are liked and are a friend. What would persuade this recommendation? Love our neighbor, forgiving faults, but don’t be a hypocrite when the neighbor is continuing harmful faults.
 
If anything this issue of character should magnify the predicament re who we have as candidates.When both parties have flawed individuals it becomes a matter of the one who will do the least harm.Donald Trump was a reaction to this problem .No one other than he could have beat the HC machine,I don’t care how exemplary any other candidate may have been. Why was Trump the last man standing ? That in and of itself should tell you something.
