Perhaps the other side needs to control the Senate then.

Changing the voting rules for federal judges was what started ALL of this, after the Dems had castigated the republicans for the possibility when the Rs controlled the Senate in 05. Then, as soon as they had power again, they sought to ensure they would keep a stranglehold on it.

The train began moving down the tracks, and here we are today, and it is hard to stop. Let’s say they add two justices to get it to 11, ensuring no ties. They will lose the Senate once they do that, and then what is to stop the Republicans from simply adding 2 more when they regain control?

And they did for veterans that were REDEFINED by the Obama administration as mentally defective because they needed help on some financial items (like tax returns).

Fortunately there was great push-back.

Also fortunately President Trump has removed Obama’s illicit (my opinion) executive order.

This gun-confiscation under leftists was even going on during the Bush administration.

he just didn’t have the support to get it done. he is on record favoring the Australian model of eliminating mass shootings, what is the Australian model? confiscation.
 
In addition we personally tried to purchase ammunition during the Obama years and could only buy .22 shells. We were told the usps had ordered ammo and also the irs??? Why we wondered? A conspiracy theory? We still could NOT get ammo through the mail or in the local gun shops!!!

There is no such gun as an assault weapon. Look at the 2013 bill it included pistols and shotguns

Pistols, shotguns, assault weapons, what is left?

I knew of this for more than twenty years. You think this is a slam dunk? Obama was supported by many gunowners in IL, where he was a legislator.

Many gun owners only care about their type of gun, they would let the government take all but theirs.

Banners learned a long time ago that it would be a long haul to eliminate guns and they committed themselves to the journey

Why deny it? Read the history, their words tell the tale

he used his pen to get what he could.

No, those statements were far before when he was a backbencher in the IL senate and the issue was not really even before the legislature. Conservatives forgive all of Trump’s previous positions (and the racist campaign literature of Jesse Helms and of Ron Paul) but this is your ‘aha!’ moment? I think not.

I’m in denial about what he did? I don’t seem to recall any confiscation program but I’m sure that you and the NRA can point one out. Somehow.

Gun control? Every person in American favors gun control or children would carry pistols in their lunchboxes. The area where reasonable people differ is the extent and details of gun control.

Where many people fail to make the crucial distinction is as to confiscation. There has been no such confiscation effort.
