Trump or Hillary?

Wow…but you are a “Deep Thinker”.

Americans truly have a right to be concern. There are those that cling to partisan politics or listen too much those with an agenda. But the truth is that there are reason to be concern and rather than finding ourselves closer to solutions; we find ourselves drifting in the opposite direction.

You would have to elaborate on “common sense” or “deep thinking”? That is usually administered by someone making their best effort to insult their interlocutor which is truly not a Socratic approach to debating.
No intent to insult. I just don’t think that many voters give much thought to what the candidate really believes or what he/she will try to accomplish if elected. And they don’t take into account that the new president, whoever that is, will have to work with the Congress which Obama has failed to do. Many don’t make much effort to delve into what the vote they cast will mean to the country as a whole if that person is elected. Those who are such stalward backers of Trump fall into this category IMO.

And as for agendas, don’t you think all the candidates have an agenda of one kind or another?

Of course every candidate has an agenda. I just think that its unfortunate that those that are so encapsulated within partisan politics think they care about you? Look at how much you pay in healthcare? That is a bill that has been increasing ever year since I first started working (through many presidential cycles). Look at how banking has ever become more complex and they are larger than they have ever been. The wonderful thing for them is that they know you will bail them out the next time their in trouble again!

I had more respect for Mit Romney when we discovered he could give a s— about the common voter. It was honest and from that point we could determine if he could do the job. Yet, voters routinely get washed with all the rhetoric that we have just come so adapted to believing. The worse part is that we blame the other party for any short comings!

Have you ever realized who these people have worked for or where they go after their political careers are over? They get hired by the same investment groups, law firms, consultants and lobbyist. Trump is just looking after himself, please don’t tell me your candidate is more altruistic…

I think he represents those voters who base their choices on sound bites and hysterical rantings about how bad things are. Don’t think they are necessarily Republicans. I think they are people swayed by what they hear on the media and certainly not by common sense or deep thinking.
We are in agreement on your points. Thank you. i have read on these forums that people wait until they hear from their favorite radio personality to post their thoughts. I, personally, don’t feel this is the best way to contribute to debate. Thanks for your candid thoughts.

Interestingly, I heard Glen Beck say that not too long after you did.

Exactly. A vote for a 3rd party may be nothing more than a protest vote, but… what if you vehemently do not want either person winning?

And they don’t take into account that the new president, whoever that is, will have to work with the Congress which Obama has failed to do.
Or the other way around for 75% of his Presidency even though he was reelected. Unless you count vote after vote after vote to repeal Obamacare as working with him. Which I don’t.

Perhaps what we all can agree on is the Obama-Clinton failure is driving the Trump success? What do you think?
No we all can’t. But I can agree the perception and mindset the GOP base has about Obama-Clinton drives his success.

Third party means a vote for Hillary.
Not voting means a vote for Hillary.
No. Mathematically, you are wrong.

In fact, neither of these options help Hillary Clinton more than Donald Trump unless the voter was committed to the one of the two as an option. Your rhetoric assumes that the third party voter would otherwise vote for Trump, an assumption without basis, hence, this thread’s poll.
And I’m sure he’d be way better than what we’ve had the last 7 years, even though he isn’t now my candidate of choice.
I lack your confidence in him and cannot agree.

Not to state the obvious, but that is not literally true. Not voting or voting for a third party is equivalent to giving half of your vote to Clinton and the other half to the Republican nominee. (Admittedly, I’m speaking a bit loosely myself.)
Ah! I see learning fractions can be of value. 😃

I think that’s a patently unfair characterization of Trump’s supporters…He’s got about 35% support among Republicans, so they are, in fact, Republicans. I also think he is the 2nd or 3rd choice of many Republicans as well, so his support may expand as some drop out. You might as well say that the majority of Republicans don’t have common sense.

Thank you for your kind remarks.

IMO if folks are in the Trump camp after all his hyperbole and then giving no indication of how he will accomplish what he says he will, I don’t think my characterization is unfair. And I am sure you know that polls can be constructed in such a way as to get the results you want. Trump is a good businessman, but if he continues behaving as he has been, I don’t think he will make a good president, if elected. I just want voters to actually analyze what a candidate says before they vote. Is there is substance there? Are solutions to problems provided? Trump has not done that.

All that being said, as the phrase goes, if Trump is the GOP candidate, I will vote for him. I will not vote for him if he goes third party.

you are probably referring to me Good Tidings because on another thread I described how I loathe to watch or listen to our royal highness Obama deliver his speeches so I would not be watching his speech last Sunday from the Oval Office about terrorism, but wait for commentary from the radio on Monday. The commentary said it was buffoonery-which I knew it would be so that is why I didn’t watch it Sunday night.
I did try to listen and watch online, but as with all Obama speeches I cannot tolerate more than a couple of minutes because he is so annoying in every way.
So I defend my right and choice to use commentary when it comes to Obama.
on the other hand I have watched almost every single debate to inform myself on political candidates from BOTH sides running for president. I wanted to watch and hear from every candidate myself to know them better.
so there!

Well, I could have told you that Glenn Beck would say it was buffoonery before President Obama made the speech. If fact, I pretty much assure you that he will find every single thing that President Obama does as wrong.

Don’t worry about it. What you do is really no better/worse than people who treat every word that comes out of Obama’s mouth like it had been written on stone tablet somewhere, and they refuse to listen to any critique of it, and outright reject any opposing viewpoint.

turn off the caps locks - it doesn’t make anyone want to read it any more!!!

I find it amusing that you think “voting like jesus” is to vote for discriminatory racial laws that sound remarkably like nazi germany’s, which will, as history has proven time and again, deepen the divides that allow extremeism to flourish in the first place. Perhaps, also, you’re forgetting that jesus was of middle-eastern origin, certainly not white.
i like cap locks…makes it easier for my tired eyes to read…people who equate cap locks to yelling spend far too much time in cyberspace!

Glenn Beck was not the one who called it buffoonery. It was someone else on the program. Other commentaries called the speech flat and another interesting comment I read said that Obama has already “checked out” as Commander-in-Chief.

And by the way, Glenn Beck is not a supporter of Trump either.

I know what you mean, sometimes when somebody or other is giving a speech I’ll just change the channel and say, Oh I’ll catch the “highlights” of the speech later on.

Yes. I believe so as well.
Hm, but that doesn’t account for the extreme weakness and ineffectiveness of the ‘establishment’ GOP candidates vis-a-vis Trump (and until recently, Carson).
