Trump or Hillary?

Hm, but that doesn’t account for the extreme weakness and ineffectiveness of the ‘establishment’ GOP candidates vis-a-vis Trump (and until recently, Carson).
I think a lot of the “weakness” is attributable to everyone wanting to talk about Trump. I mean on this forum alone, how many threads are there are about him?

I for one am sick of him and wish he would fade off into the sunset

He may fade if he loses Iowa, which is looking increasingly more likely.

Whatever became of MODERATE Republicans? As Mr. Trump goes he keeps offending people, he hit me. I am disabled, and if he wins I fear he will cancel SSI and Medicaid. Not sure who I will vote for. But it won’t be Trump.
HE cant cancel ssi or medicaid.

Ironically if Hillary is elected, she will be elected by the ineptitude of not only the GOP, but the post - Reagan conservitive movement who has come to confuse strength and leadership with uncompromising rigidity.
So if that is true, why was did Dole, McCain, and Romney lose in the General? Those three are great examples of moderate Republicans.

No, the republicans keep nominating the establishments candidate and then we lose in the General. If Rubio or Jeb gets the nomination, they will lose in the General. The only two candidates in the GOP field worth voting for in Cruz or Trump. All the others are really democrats walking around as Republicans. Just because they are faithful doesnt make them republicans.

I’m surprised he’s still here as his last run for the presidency was so quixotic as to appear like a publicity stunt. My point is that the establishment candidates haven’t come up with a way to combat him or even stand toe to toe with him. So I blame them more than I blame Obama or Hillary.

Dole was running against a relatively popular incumbent president–a tough job under the best of circumstances.

I think you have to understand that GWB damaged the GOP brand pretty bad–perhaps beyond repair. Conservative or no, no Republican was going to win against Obama. Who were the conservative alternatives to Romney, for instance, and how would they have fared against Obama? Cain? Gingrich? Santorum? The notion that any of them could have picked up electoral votes where Romney did not is ludicrous.

Glenn Beck was not the one who called it buffoonery. It was someone else on the program. Other commentaries called the speech flat and another interesting comment I read said that Obama has already “checked out” as Commander-in-Chief.
So, Glen Beck liked it? I’m shocked. I figured he would hate it.
And by the way, Glenn Beck is not a supporter of Trump either.
Dude can’t get anything right.

I don’t want to have to stand before God and give an account for why I voted for Trump. 😛

Xenophobia, fear-mongering, hate speech, ego-mania, and recklessness to the point of jeopardizing the common good is not something I think Christ would want us to “support.”

But I won’t be voting for Hillary either. Abortion…etc.

I guess I won’t be voting for another election!
I suppose, were I an American, I would abstain from voting too.

However, if I might ask, do you really think the best method for preventing abortion, and the desire to go through with one in parents, is to ought right ban it? Is it really a reason to flat out ignore other areas of policy, important areas such as the economy, and abstain? Why?
I understand completely where Mark86 is coming from. To me Clinton and Trump are equally disastrous as POTUS. So I can’t vote for either of them. In the past I have held my nose and voted for someone I didn’t want because I thought they were better than the other option. In this case. IMO they are both unworthy of office.

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump loses the Republican nomination, and decides to run independent solely to screw over the GOP.
I frankly think that’s been the plan all along. Winning the nomination would be an unexpected coup. My distrust of Trump has not wavered.

As I posted elsewhere:

If it comes down to Trump vs. Hillary… I will need to vote for Trump.

Reasons:
A third party vote is always a vote for the Democrats. The Democrats outnumber the Republicans, so a vote that does not go towards a Republican always helps the Democratic candidate.
2)
For all of Trump’s flaws, Hillary is the one who is pushing for forcing abortion, euthanasia, same-sex “marriage,” upon not just Americans but the whole world.

Also, Hillary has mentioned multiple times that she believes that the time has come for religions to change.

I believe that Hillary would further move Obama’s policies further left and directly attack the Catholic Church and continue to attack our beliefs.

As far as Trump is concerned… I don’t think he will do anything bad that isn’t already inevitable. He might cause some negative/bad things to accelerate, but I think anything that bad that may happen with a Donald Trump Presidency would happen eventually anyway.
Of the two, I strongly feel that Hillary would do the most long term damage to our nation and world. Therefore, while I don’t want either one, I would vote for Trump.

You do know how secular and blatantly unchristian Japan is, right? 🙂

Along with Canada, Norway, Great Britain, France, Germany, practically all of Western Europe, China…

Why a monarchy? Or was that a joke?
I’m moving to Poland. Back to my roots!

She isn’t “forcing” any of those issues, she is in favour of legalizing them. I take particular exception to the sentence I’ve highlighted, namely that according to the US constitution, you are allowed freedom of belief, but so long as the state remains secular.* You do not have any right whatsoever to introduce religious laws.* Not actively legislating for your beliefs does not amount to an attack - it amounts to a rightful removal of religious privilege.

Any action you find objectionable, like same-sex marriage, but that only has a direct effect on the individual, or consenting adults, is not within the purview of any civilized society to legislate against. Forcefully prevent abortion and gay marriage will achieve none of the ends you think it will - it does not address the causes for abortion, and so will drive those desperate to obtain one to illegal, unsanitary black-market esque clinics, and much the same applies to euthanasia. By not allowing those who might undergo such procedures freedom of volition, you are preventing any sort of rational discussion on the subject in which you might present a reasoned case against such acts, and prevent them through education, not ignorance. I struggle to understand why conservatives can be so anti-statist under the pretext of championing the individual, but when it comes to morality, have no faith in the individual whatsoever. Sin is based on volition - and legislation against personal sin denies it.

Additionally, the supreme court ruling concerned secular gay marriage. It was not a change to the definition of marriage used by the Church. That the supreme court does not enforce a religious definition of marriage does not mean they are making attacks on the Church.

All you’re doing in voting for Trump is promoting sectarianism and racism, regressing your society to 1960s levels of bigotry, indifference to poverty and to the environment.

I know what you mean, sometimes when somebody or other is giving a speech I’ll just change the channel and say, Oh I’ll catch the “highlights” of the speech later on.
exactly! thank you. 🙂

Don’t worry about it. What you do is really no better/worse than people who treat every word that comes out of Obama’s mouth like it had been written on stone tablet somewhere, and they refuse to listen to any critique of it, and outright reject any opposing viewpoint.
I agree. 🙂

What a choice of candidates…almost as bad as what we have downunder…okay…these two are worse 🤷

If I was American I would vote for Bernie Sanders.

So if GWB damaged the GOP beyond repair what will the democrat party be like after Obama?

Hillary, Sanders, O’Malley? what a selection to choose from!

Glen Beck was not on last week. He has been in the Middle East rescuing Christian refugee families to bring them to America.

So no. I didn’t hear from Glen himself if he liked the speech or not. It was his replacement who used the word buffoonery.
