Trump stands by statements on Mexican illegal immigrants, surprised by backlash

Democrats:

If this political party wants to nominate Hillary Clinton, I say go right ahead. I’d like nothing more than a candidate who is struggling in every swing-state against numerous GOP contenders.

Kinda looks like the Blue Wall is crumbling…:D:D

Personally, I’d love to see Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Pennsylvania turn a nice shade of read in a presidential election.

I will say again, I’m not sure if I’d vote for Trump, maybe he can say it better. On the other hand, it has put the issue, especially “sanctuary cities” up front and in the center of national issues.

Things that happen as in San Francisco should not happen because a city is a sanctuary city and they don’t work with the Immigration Enforcement (ICE). And truly, what happened in SF is not an isolated incident but happens somewhat regularly. It should not happen and maybe the way to call attention to it is saying some things about it.

The fourth problem is simply - it’s quite difficult to come to the US legally, especially for unskilled workers. Work visas need proof of employment. Student visas need proof of enrollment in an educational institution. Even tourist visas require that the person show that he/she has a certain amount of money. As for resident alien (“green”) cards - they need sponsorship by either (a) one’s employer or (b) an adult relative who is also a citizen of the United States. As such, it’s actually easier, in many cases, to come over illegally and then legalize one’s status later.
It should be hard to come here.

Proof of employment should be at the top of the list, if someone is coming here to work. In addition, they should have to show that they have a unique ability or skill. In other words, if hundreds if not thousands of people can do the job they are coming to do, why do we need them to come?

If you are a student, then yes, you should have to prove that you are a student. That seems pretty basic. It would be even better if the student had to prove that the education that they were seeking wasn’t available in their country.
Since people want to come from all over the world, we should send jets to pick them up in Africa, Asia and where ever else, lax immigration policies obviously benefit some people. Shouldn’t everyone be treated equitably??

Send jets to Sudan, Nigeria, China, Laos and so on, a true open door policy would seem to be the solution then.
True, why should it only benefit those that are close enough to walk over?

I remember Jamiel Shaw case:
’They aren’t supposed to be here’: Father of boy killed by illegal immigrant backs Trump
Jamiel Shaw recalls seeing his 17-year-old son, Jamiel Jr., lying dead in the street where he used to play, gunned down execution-style by one of the “invisible people.”
When Kathryn Steinle was killed on July 2 in San Francisco by a five-time deportee, the phrase found its way back into the mind of Shaw. He has spent the seven years since his son was killed fighting so-called “sanctuary” policies in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, where police refuse to work with federal authorities when they apprehend illegal aliens who, by law, should be deported. The crimes they subsequently commit – including murder – should never happen, Shaw said.
“We call it getting killed by invisible people, because they aren’t supposed to be here,” Shaw told FoxNews.com.
Among the hard-working illegal immigrants who come to America for a better life, there are hundreds of thousands of criminals, according to a Department of Homeland Security report. And among those criminals, there are people capable of murder, as the cases of Jamiel Shaw, Kathryn Steinle and several others that have occurred in recent years show.

So an anti-life, anti-freedom, anti-marriage democrat can win?

Funny, I thought Hillary was supposed to walk with this, but I guess it’s not so bright, eh?

Oh, I’m sure the establishment is concerned.

But I also think its interesting how the left-wing media has been putting out articles insisting with clenched teeth that Latinos would never vote for Cruz or Rubio in big numbers.

Oh, and how about the San Francisco situation?

I think America is thinking harder about what Trump said, even if it were broad-based.
Yes and it seems his ratings are rising!!! God Bless, Memaw

To be truly pro-life, one must be pro-life outside the womb, not just inside the womb. The Far Right is so focused on protesting outside healthcare clinics and parading around calling to make abortion illegal and such, yet their opinions and comments of their fellow human beings outside the womb is far from pro-life.

To be truly pro-life, one would not share your views. Repeatedly posting separate messages on the same thread continues to be an annoyance, but its the quality - not the quantity that counts.

So you honestly believe that the GOP stands a chance of winning the Presidency?

I was actually worried in '12, but I am nearly %100 sure that the Democrats have this race.

Thanks in part to our good friend Donald Trump. 🙂

Of course, no one knows what Trump really believes since he will say whatever plays best to the base of the party whose nomination he’s seeking. As one reporter pointed out in the Washington Post:
Does anybody suppose Trump really cares about illegal immigration (which helps his construction interests, by suppressing wages) or about defending traditional marriage (he’s had three)?
And we don’t need to suppose: We can look back at what he did and said in 1999, when he was flirting with a run for the Reform Party presidential nomination and I accompanied him on a swing through Southern California.
I flew on his 727 with the winged “T” on the tail and the mirrored headboard on the bed, and I learned all about his prospective platform: progressive on social issues such as gays in the military, for campaign finance reform and universal health care, in favor of more regulation, opposed to investing Social Security money in the stock market. Most of all, he preached tolerance — contrasting himself with Pat Buchanan, his rival for the nomination, who had made statements considered anti-Semitic and anti-immigrant.
Buchanan at the time had been talking about a “railroad killer” and other criminals entering illegally from Mexico. He said other politicians were afraid that “if they speak out against illegal immigration and they speak out against the crimes that are being committed, suddenly they’ll be considered insensitive, or they say, ‘We might lose the Hispanic vote.’ ”
Trump back then issued a statement saying he hates intolerance because in New York, “a town with different races, religions and peoples, I have learned to work with my brother man.” I accompanied him as he underscored the point by touring the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.
“He seems to be a racist,” Trump said of Buchanan.

I’d be worried about being anti-life. Different strokes as they say.

I commend Trump for caring about Americans like Jamiel Shaw and others.

Even Hillary and I believe Pelosi have said San Francisco did a poor job, Obama called some immigrants “gang-bangers”, what’s the difference?

The U.S. pharmaceutical industry is succeeding quite well without the help of Mexican drug lords. Take a look at the epidemic of prescription drug addiction over the past 15 years.
Does that mean we should ignore the ones coming over our borders?? We need to take care of BOTH!! God Bless. Memaw

Just for the state of North Carolina, if I have this correct:
The strongest GOP hopefuls for the general election, leading Clinton by 4, are Mike Huckabee at 49/45 and Scott Walker at 47/43. Ben Carson leads her by 3 at 47/44, and Marco Rubio and Rand Paul each have 1 point leads at 47/46 and 46/45 respectively.
The weakest Republicans in the state are Donald Trump and Chris Christie who each trail Clinton by 3 points at 47/44 and 46/43 respectively. Also trailing Clinton are Jeb Bush at 45/43 and Ted Cruz at 47/46. Clinton’s tie comes with Carly Fiorina at 45%.

Interesting polll, NC voted blue last time I think. I would not think most people know Carly. PPP is thought to be more liberal than conservative.

[BIBLEDRB][/BIBLEDRB]

You’re making a blanket assumption. People like Jeb Bush are immigrant friendly, and they’re worse people on the far left side who have complete sympathy for minorities, but think nothing of late term abortions or hate speech against Christians, so there’s blame on both sides. Genocide on black babies to me is a worse sin then complaints about immigration from a few individuals. It is an of fence against women and our black population but neither party will speak about it.
I don’t doubt there is hate speech against Christians. However, can you please provide me with some sort of evidence of hate speech against Christians?

Genocide on Black babies? I think “genocide” is a touchy word, that I believe shouldn’t be used in abortion discussion, but that’s a topic for somewhere else.

You seem to be making a habit of insulting people on this forum because they dare to have opinions that you don’t like. If there is anything lacking in rationality, it’s the idea that it’s possible to have a meaningful discussion with you.
Please provide evidence where I have been “insulting” people. I have not “insulted” or “degraded” anyone.

I was merely calling out racism and prejudice for what is. If people consider calling out racism and prejudice as “insulting people,” then that’s where the real problem lies. Thank you.

I respect all opinions, even though I may strongly disagree with them.

Somewhat regularly? Please show evidence of that, please. Thank you.
