The crybabies you are talking about are largely Spanish people. I’m glad they have intelligent people like you to tell them what they should be insulted by. Yes the Mexican’s can sit down and be quiet while the white man is telling them what to feel. I’m sorry that you are overtaxed by people calling out racism.

Don’t kid yourself. We all understand perfectly well what Trump was talking about.

No, you are wrong in interpreting my post. The crybabies are NOT largely SPANISH people! I never suggested they were - and I am not insulting anyone - the drug run, human trafficking government of Mexico, insults themselves. The American people are not escaping the responsibility of maintaining law and order and are insulting themselves. (if you wish to dwell on being insulted as a grave matter - IMO its much worse than that!) Racism is not a factor in this instance. Americans of Mexican heritage are a part of America - period! We are a melting pot of nationalities, races, cultures, creeds. Perhaps you are not choosing to believe that the United States is the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. That would be your loss. I take notice of your quick accusation that a white man is telling someone how to feel. Are you provoking a racist reaction?
You state that “we all” understand perfectly well what Trump was talking bout. Well, I don’t think that is correct at all. Imperfect is a quality everyone has - right?

Perhaps??? Perhaps you can point out where I said any such thing.
I thought I was resoponding to BookWorm and PathFinder’s comments. I’m very sorry for having implied, as a result of which thread I quoted, that you believed anything negative about American workers. Please forgive me.

Big business really doesn’t approve of government cutting back on their cheap labor pool.
I think you mean small business. Big business has to use e-verify and follow all sorts of laws that don’t make it worth hiring an illegal. Whether it’s a sanctuary city or not. It’s small business, even homeowners hiring a maid, that violate the law and oppress the illegals for cheap labor.

Oh yes, I absolutely agree with this post.

I wil say that I am NOT part of the demographic he is pandering to as I find his comments grossly offensive.
He is second in the polls now. At least he will make it onto the stage for the debates.

Where are his more thoughtful, diplomatic rivals. Definitely not in the top 5 or even 10.

Even his entrance was a spectacle…the elevator descent along with the music. Trump knows how to get his followers to listen.

If you want to see more of Trump you should follow him on twitter. His posts are even more crazy that what makes it into the news.

As I said, every generation needs a Lyndon LaRouche.

😦 Have you seen the PBS documentary, “The Italian Americans”? Very good and interesting.

BTW I’m first generation American. Both my parents were born in Italy and emigrated in the 1960’s.

My Grandmother was born in the US and her family moved back to Italy when she was about 5.

My aunt was a US citizen, because her mom was, even though she was born in Italy.

She emigrated to the US and sponsored the rest of her siblings. The process took just a few years. My mom then sponsored my Dad.

Now the waiting list to sponsor a sibling is over 20 years. My mom would not be able to sponsor my Dad. Legal residents can no longer sponsor family members.
And a bill was in place to stop adult children from sponsoring parents. I am not sure it passed, but it was something they were looking into.

There are also organizations that represent small businesses and lobby for the government turning a blind eye. Restaurants, construction, real estate, farmers, janitorial services, meat packers, hotels, etc. many of these benefit from not using e-verify. Many benefit from having exemptions to minimum wage laws. While they may be small businesses, they belong to organizations that wield a lot of power.

I saw a poll, it asked if people thought Trump was being treated unfair, overwhelmingly, the poll says he was being treated unfair.

So, care to name who these racists are who defend his comments? His comments need no defending.

My comments in red:
Fair enough, he was speaking within the context of undocumented immigration in the United States. However, that doesn’t take away the simple fact that he was grouping an entire group of people into a category, negative category. That’s the problem here. This is blatant racism and prejudice against Latinos and People of Color in general. Immigration make this country great. They make this country possible. Without immigrants and People of Color, this country would fall apart. Unless you have stood in the shoes of a non-White person, it may be difficult for you to understand the backlash and the anger of his comments. Mexican Americans are a hardworking people, and make modern American life possible.

As to your comment about the undocumented immigrant who allegedly killed people. That is still one single immigrant and that doesn’t represent all immigrants whether they be documented or undocumented. Just as crazy White kids shoots up inoccent people, one could also argue that there needs to be something done about gun policy, but the GOP is starkly against any sort of fair regulation of firearms. However, the GOP is so quick to do something about undocumented immigrants just because one undocumented person decided to commit horrible acts. Double standards.

It’s not what Trump said, but how he said it. He could have simply said that too many low skilled workers who we do not need are coming here along with many criminals and then pull out the 30% statistic of the illegal alien community who now inhabit our prisons.

And there have been hundreds of native born Americans who have been killed by illegals, with this truth being kept under wraps by the politicians who do not want to address the issue the way the majority of citizens want it addressed.

We need to completely end illegal immigration and sharpely curtail legal immigration until every native born American currently on the dole has a job.
How would you define “low skilled” workers?! I don’t believe in the label “low skills” because every worker has worthwhile skills to offer to the table.

“Illegal alien” is such an offensive and insulting term not to mention an archaic one at that. Such a term doesn’t belong in our modern vocabulary.

Undocumented immigration will not end unless our country passes fair and comprehensive immigration reform. People come here without proper documentation because it’s too difficult to come here with the proper documentation. Curtailing documented immigration would be not only illegal but unAmerican at that.

The fact of the matter is that immigrants take the jobs that most Americans, particularly White Americans would not take. That’s just a fact. If you go within the agriculture industry, who’s picking all those veggies you put on your dinner table? Certainly, not too many Whites are doing the jobs that immigrants are taking part in. It’s not because they’re unavlaliable or being taking, it’s because Americans, Whites are not taking those jobs. It’s the truth.

I guess you consider me a racist since I am defending what Trump said. You’re wrong…I heard his whole speech & he was saying how he would build a secure wall along the border & get Mexico to pay for it. The wall is to keep out illegal immigrants, they are the ones he was referring to who are drug runners & rapists…but where he messed up was when he said he assumed a few were good people.

It appeared to me most of what he said was not scripted but off the cuff. He is foolish for not thinking of what he is going to say before he blurts out something that can be misconstrued.
Mexicans interviewed, who came here legally, agree with Trump & are angry that the illegals are going to be given the same benefits that they had to struggle for.

P.S. I’m not a racist, since I’m a musician & played music with Cubans, Puerto Ricans, blacks etc.and made many friends with everyone with no problem. 😛
Although I don’t agree with the statement that to defend Donald Trump means you’re a racist. However, defending Donald Trumpt shows ignorance to not only history, but the struggles, pains, marginalizations, and explorations of People of Color. Defending this gentleman shows a lack of understanding of how racism and prejudice hurts and affects People of Color.

What Mexicans? Can you please provide some evidence about those such Mexicans? Not all undocumented immigrants are killers or rapists, just as not all White boys are shooters.

I think it’s wrong to call someone a racist or a bigot without actually knowing them personally and at a “deeper” level. Having nonWhite friends doesn’t relieve anyone of racism. Racism can also exist in unconscious forms.

I guess that makes me a racist since I defend Trumps comments. 🤷 oh well…

I think many mexican immigrants, whatever their legal status, are bottom of the barrel problem-people. Their country doesnt want them, so they encourage them to leave.

I dont want to help them either. Whatever help they need they can go find it somewhere else, and stop turning american cities into mexican ghettos. And i vote.
Do you realize that your generalizing on an entire group of people? Do you realize that you’re basically attacking an ethnic group? How do you know they’re “bottom of the barrel problem-people?” What do you even mean by that? Mexican-Americans make this country great and keep this country going. I don’t think any country “encourages” their citizens to “leave.”

You don’t want to help them? Doesn’t seem very Christian to me. They’re turning American cities into “Mexican ghettos?” Really? That sounds pretty racist and predjudice to me.

No it doesn’t. The person who can’t defend their argument, and resorts to name calling doesn’t get to label people. Don’t give him that power, he doesn’t deserve it. And you don’t deserve to be called names.

We know that Cuba emptied their prisons and sent them to the U.S. Is Mexico (government) doing that too? Is that why Trump used the language that they are sending, not they are coming. I’ve heard that Mexico gets a lot of money from the US, from the illegal aliens sending paychecks back home. That would give Mexico the incentive to send as many people across the border that they can.

In my small city, a friend who works with the city power company says that the local Mexican population runs scam after scam, not paying their electricity bill. They buy a property, load it up with gobs of people, and run a bill, don’t pay it and switch the utility to a new name. Over and over again. I haven’t kept track of all the illegals committing crime, but the names come up in the paper quite frequently. Just had a shooting yesterday.

Seems to be enough info to say there is definitely a problem, just deciding how big a problem. If no one can talk about it without being called a racist, the problem will never be solved, only grow bigger till it explodes.
Please refrain from using the term “illegal ailen(s)” that’s a highly offensive and derogatory term. Thank you. Hardworking Mexican-American families send money back to their poor families in Mexico. If the GOP is so quick to respond to an undocumented immigrant commuting a horrible crime, why doesn’t the GOP do anything (in terms of policy) regarding White young men shorting innocent people. These are double standards.

Why can’t they come here legally, though? Does it cost too much or take too much time?
It is very very difficult to come to this country with the proper documentation. That’s why people come here illegally, because it’s very hard to come here legally.

Italians came here legally, if some organized crime came though, that was unfortunate and something that was not needed.
Actually that is false and more of an urban myth created by the GOP. During the massive waves of Irish and Italian immigration to the United States, immigration policy was pretty much open immigration during this point in time. There was such thing as “legal” or “illegal” immigration. People just traveled to the United States and were able to be processed without incident or problems.

What exactly did Donald Trump say about Mexicans? I tried searching the 'net but came up with stories about what happened after he said whatever it was that he said. I’m not trying to start a debate or stir things up. If someone can just point me in the right direction, the thread can close after that. :tiphat:
"We have theives, rapists, criminals coming across the border. There are some Mexicans who are good and hard workers. NOT EXACT WORDING BUT CLOSE.
His defense for building wall.

But that isn’t what Book Worm said. Book Worm said that they are doing jobs that Americans won’t do.

And yes, I agree, that employers should turn people in that are here illegally. And yes, they should be deported.

And yes, there should be rules and laws about who comes to our country. Simply be close enough to walk in shouldn’t be the only qualification.
Why should employers turn over undocumented immigrants? Why should undocumented immigrants be deported?

Why should there be rules and laws about who comes into this country and what kind of rules and laws would that entail?

Have you ever thought that all European Americans are “illegal immigrants?!” I mean, this lad was stolen from indigenous Americans. Yes, Europeans stole the Americas from indigenous peoples. So, aside from purely indigenous peoples, we are all undocumented immigrants.

Trust me, the Bush Justice Department wasn’t all that good. Neither were the Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, etc. Big business really doesn’t approve of government cutting back on their cheap labor pool.

Perhaps you didn’t. I just get annoyed everytime someone says ‘the illegals are just taking jobs Americans won’t do’ as an excuse for why there are so many illegal immigrants in low paying jobs. I think there is an American out there for every job. An employer might have to pay more than they’d pay an illegal immigrant or a visa holder, pay to relocate someone from one part of the country to another, provide company specific training or an apprentice program. But the Americans workers are there.
Unless you’ve experienced and seen it yourself, immigrants take the jobs that Americans, Whites in particular wouldn’t take. Yes, that’s true.

I think the political atmosphere of the thread inflamed by rebellious side a little. Other personal things may have contributed to the tone of the post, that I don’t feel like discussing.

…But still, I dont want 35 or 45 year old men and women working at el pollo loco. I want teenagers to have those jobs. I dont want laborers or people on the run flooding our southern border. I want educated people with degrees who have something to offer coming over here. That goes for all immigrants.

Honestly, I dont care if the economy cant find cheap labor. 🤷

…Charity is not my number one. Discipline now is. Because this country is in despair and decisive action is the remedy for that, even if people hate me for it. We need to be disciplined in not backing down from our convivtions out of fear but rather acting on them fully.
