But aren’t these horrors likely with any other leading candidate, including Trump?
Of course. Those things could happen with any candidate, Trump or any other. On the other hand, none of them are probable. We aren’t living in a dictatorship. The president is not going to have unlimited power. And no candidate wants to deprive people of religious liberty.

Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper. Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.

Since when do you believe anything Hillary Clinton says?

Don’t sit out the election, Bob. You must vote, no matter who the miserable choices are. I do empathize, however.

Joe Scarborough:
“Trump averaging 50% in New York and California CBS polls. Now close to 50% nationally. Whatever he’s been doing since Wisconsin is working.”

Conservative Review article goes into this but I think Trump will probably get over 50% in New York, but what gives me a bit of pause is what I’ve read in link above about people having to be registered by October last year as Republicans and there are members of Trump’s own family and campaign who can’t vote for him. And as for the polls, “most of the pollsters have not used a voter file to pre-screen for Republicans.”

So various polls may be showing a lot of support for Trump, but how many are going to be able to vote?

Once all the votes are in, the numbers on the delegate allocation are going to be interesting.

I seriously doubt that Trump will ever be president. But having said that, if he’s gets the nomination of the GOP, Hillary is all but assured of winning – something some Trump supporters ought to consider.

Hey all, just a note to say that I will no longer post on this forum. Thanks for all your wisdom here and the patience you have shown towards me. God bless you all.

Sorry you are leaving. It was nice to chat with you! Come back if you change your mind.

Interesting article Denise, thanks for posting it. It has crossed my mind in recent days that this might be his endgame.
Depends how you mean “endgame”. I.e. if you mean that he doesn’t want his devotees anymore, than I would disagree.

I don’t think that is going to happen. In spite of all the polls that show he cannot beat Hillary, and all the polls showing his DISapproval rating at 70%, his adamant supporters will have no other. Perhaps they are secret Hillary supporters. Perhaps they have not thought out the process. Perhaps they don’t have any core beliefs. Any way, I doubt they will change their minds in spite of anything any of us can say.

But change their minds to vote for whom? Cruz? I think he has an even slimmer chance of defeating Hillary Clinton than does Trump.

‘Act like you’re a professional! Be a PRO!’ – John Kasich SLAPS DOWN Trump on election rules

I honestly don’t know what Kasich’s play is – there will absolute pandemonium if the election goes his way when he’s only won one state. Is he hoping for some concession from Trump or Cruz at a contested convention? Or is there already a crooked deal with Trump to keep Ted from getting more votes and delegates?

Oh he still wants his devotees. That’s why this would be a win/win for him. (Well, actually a lose/win.) He can leave the convention whining about how unfairly he was treated and watch the GOP implosion from the comfort of his mansion. His fans will stay and fight while he’s laughing all the way to the golf course. “Stay tuned for the exciting finale of Celebrity Apprentice: Presidential Edition!”
