When people find themselves promoting something that is intellectually unsound, they always attack.
There you go again. Trump, his positions, his person, and his supporters are intellectually unsound. You are here to attack trump. That’s all you are about.

Although quite different in manner and substance, there is an odd commonality between Donald and Bernie with regard to their appeal to people who are fed up with politics as usual. Also the fact that two men in their mid-70’s can run for the highest office in the land gives one hope.
It’s scary to see the numbers who plan to vote for Trump if Bernie isn’t the Democratic nominee – they consistently point to the outsider status of both as their reason for doing so. My hubby thinks they’ll change their minds during the general but who knows.

Maybe that’s part of his appeal, but I think his radical message is another big part of it.
Bernie is cool. To the left of Obama (not by much though). That about wraps it up. He would be toast in a national election and I firmly believe the vast majority of his followers are bright enough to understand that. To me it is a little silly. But if I were 18 I would probably be the biggest supporter of his in the country, so there you go…🙂

No, if someone displays constant animosity in tone toward trump no matter what he says or does, and twists his words to suit one’s own feelings, I’m sorry there is little discussion to be had. I’m a trump supporter but I don’t come here and focus on attacking other candidates. I also can see how those other candidates are able to attract voters. I don’t tell their supporters they are too blind, too naive, too this or too that. I see how and why those candidates can be attractive.
Nobody called you any of those things.
Perhaps a better answer to things like “Trump attracts angry white males” is to acknowledge there is truth in the statement, and then move on as to why that is so. If I were a Trump supporter, that is what I would do.
Political debate requires thick skin.
Stop taking things so personally.

I was not talking about you at all.

Yes, it’s definitely the year of the outsider, or at least the perceived outsider.

Then put me on ignore. I have not, and will not attack you. I will follow CAF posting rules.

I think his appeal comes from his rejection of the corporate love with which Hillary is firmly enmeshed.
I think you are right. Hillary is the ultimate Washington insider.
To be honest, if Bernie were pro-life, I would vote for him in a New York minute.

Trump is so crass, right? Too bad he isn’t like Romney, right?

The former Republican presidential nominee joked about the billionaire’s foreign-born wives.

“Donald Trump has had several foreign wives. It turns out that there really are jobs Americans won’t do,”

By being himself in this campaign cycle, Trump has been able to help other politicians shed their veneer: we get to see what people are really like behind their fake politeness.

Quite possibly the reason Trump has so many angry white male supporters is because the white male democrats have all had enough of their party. Plenty to be angry with it about.

Trump won’t run third party. Remember, you heard it here. 🙂 Nor will he destroy the Repub party. It has never been a cohesive party and it isn’t destroyed yet.

Now, as a white male, I’m going to risk the racist brand and say the people who ought to be the angriest are black males. Their employment rate is terrible. Their children are the most likely to be aborted. They are the most affected negatively by illegal immigration, and Hispanic bias against them makes white bias against them look like a misunderstanding at a garden party. Their children are the targets of drugs and gangs. And, of course, the party that has run the country and which claims to be their friend has, for the last 7+ years only made their condition worse.

If Trump plays it right, he’ll get a lot more of them than anybody dreams right now. I don’t know if he’ll say the right things to them, but he should. The only differences between them and “angry white males” are their skin color, their worse condition, and realization how sorely they have been betrayed by the Dem party.

Follow Ridgerunner’s example. He is a Trump supporter and I agree with very little of what he says. Yet he debates with charity and respect.

To be fair, Son of Niall has been on this forum for years and posts on a wide variety of topics. Is not like he’s only been here two months and already has over 1,600 posts all about Trump. 😉

You have a point. 🙂

He’s always been polite to me, even when we disagree, which is more than I can say for some people.

Unless you are a Muslim.
I don’t see the ‘Muslim religion’ as a religion. It’s more of a cult or an ideology. At best, it is a false religion. You cannot support or defend something that is totally contrary to Christs true religion. Nothing can compare to Gods truth.
I am not sure why anyone would defend the ideology that Muslims believe. It was started by a pedophile. A man who married a 6 yo girl!!
These days if a pedophile started a ‘religion’ people would be outraged. Why are we not outraged just because it was started hundreds of years ago?

You may not like it, and you don’t have to like it, but Islam is one of the world’s three major monotheistic religions. It’s not a cult or an ideology; it’s a religion. Muslims believe in the same God you do and the Jewish people do.

Difference between a cult and a religion:

“Like Classic Coke and Diet Coke, both religions and cults look alike even if they taste different. A religion belongs to the wider culture; its adherents come and go freely. A cult tends to be counter-cultural, restricting the social life of its adherents to other cult members. The key characteristic of a cult is the axis mundi, the shamanic leader at the center of the organization. The cult leader claims exclusive access to transcendent reality, and dispenses power and grace as he or she sees fit. It is not theology that distinguishes a cult from a religion; in fact, cults may appear within a religion, for example, the Branch Davidians or Jim Jones’ Peoples Church were both cults within Christianity. The most interesting cult operative today, in my opinion, is the UFO cult oriented around its leader, Rael (Claude Vorilhon), who connects his 60,000 adherents to extraterrestrial wisdom and power.”

Clearly, Islam is a major world religion. I’m speaking of mainstream Islam, not Muslim extremists, who do develop cults around themselves like some Christians have.

Yes, well, here’s what the Church has to say:
“The Church has also a high regard for the Muslims. They worship God, who is one, living and subsistent, merciful and almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth (Cf. St. Gregory VII, Letter III, 21 to Anazir [Al-Nasir], King of Mauretania PL, 148.451A.), who has spoken to men. They strive to submit themselves without reserve to the hidden decrees of God, just as Abraham submitted himself to God’s plan, to whose faith Muslims eagerly link their own. Although not acknowledging him as God, they venerate Jesus as a prophet, his Virgin Mother they also honor, and even at times devoutly invoke. Further, they await the day of judgment and the reward of God following the resurrection of the dead. For this reason they highly esteem an upright life and worship God, especially by way of prayer, alms-deeds and fasting.
