Maybe I’ve missed it. Why is no one talking about Trump’s stance on religious freedom? While Cruz talks about - and even boasts - of his Christianity, he’s said nothing about the continuous onslaught against people of faith. The Donald has clearly stated that he feels everyone has the right to their faith without limits.

Hillary makes noises but we all know she will bow to the atheists and progressives who turn a blind eye to those decimating the ranks of religions other than Islam throughout the world.
Oh, now you know that’s not true about Clinton. She isn’t perfect - no one is - but she has nothing at all against religious freedom. Why would she?

So has she filed an amicus curiae brief with the SCOTUS supporting the Little Sisters of the Poor and Priests for Life, supporting their religious liberty?

David was sorrowful and repented of his sins. Trump only a few months ago said he never felt the need to ask God for forgiveness.

Also, he didn’t tell fool hearted jokes in a bar with his friends after a few rounds. He said them sober on the radio with people listening.
Of course trumps situation is different from David’s. Everybody sins a little differently. Remember David had no inclination to repent until confronted by the prophet Nathan. He also had to endure the terrible pain of his infant son’s death. The point is not to say that trump is as good or bad as David but that if David could be forgiven so can trump. It really is not our place to judge trump for his dalliances years ago. He has a very good family now and I think he’ll be a good leader for the country.

That’s my opinion and you don’t have to agree. But at least you know where we come from.

Have you filed an amicus curiae brief with SCOTUS supporting the Little Sisters of the Poor? Is every politician in America supposed to file a brief on cases before the Supreme Court?

I refuse to believe that those supporting the racism, misogyny, xenophobia, vulgarity, narcissism, and boorishness of Trump are “normal Americans.” If they are, we are in very scary times, indeed.
What are “normal Americans”?

I just talked to a guy today who was born not far from where I was born, out in the Ozark hills. He’s vulgar and boorish by design as well as by inherited culture. To add to it, he chews tobacco and carries a cup around to spit into.

He was born on one of the worst, rockiest farms anybody ever saw. Didn’t have two nickels to rub together. High school only. He now owns several thousand acres of some of the best land in Missouri, along with some of the worst, the latter of which he pastures.

I’m guessing he’s about 45 years old.

We discussed the business we had together for a bit. Then we discussed the stock market, which he knows very well. We discussed the oncoming La Nina (in June, they say) and he was very knowledgeable about that. He announced that he’s a Trump supporter. I said I still like Kasich for reasons I can’t explain, dislike Cruz and would support Trump eventually, most likely.

He had just come back from Brazil, where he teaches farmers, ranchers, agronomists and the like on how to plant the various varieties of grains now available; early corn, late corn, drought corn, on and on. He knows the genetics. We discussed cattle genetics a bit. He doesn’t think much of Brazilian cattle because of their genetic and growth scores, which he knows thoroughly. He might net a million dollars in a crop year, or lose half a million all because of one bad storm. He advises the State on its crop programs and export/import policies.

Not surprisingly, he is not impressed with academics and theoreticians who, he believes, don’t know much about practical things, and he’s probably right about that. We talked a little about borrowing, taking chances, and the stress it brings. We talked about the “lone wolves” who take the risks and those who go for guaranteed salaries. He is not contemptuous of the latter, but doesn’t want that life. He is a risk taker who succeeds and admires people whose turn of mind is similar, like Trump. He can learn anything and thinks Trump is the same sort.

So, is he boorish and crude? Among the worst. Big talker? Very. A decent human being? Absolutely. Smart? Among the smartest walking this earth, with the accomplishments to prove it. He dismissed Trump inheriting 100 million dollars worth of marginal property. “There’s people who could inherit 100 million and not have anything after ten or twenty years” he said. “But that guy turned it into 10 billion. That didn’t come easy, I don’t care what anybody says.”

I wouldn’t characterize him as a typical Trumpist. But I am saying some don’t mind the boorishness or the business acumen or anything else. My friend is a “get things done” person.

Not all Trump supporters have gone without a safety net. Not all are materially successful. Not all are boorish or crude. Not all carry a spit cup.

I hope that they would in those cases if they support religious freedom.

👍 I agree.

But it remains to be seen if Trump can even be stopped from winning the 1237 delegates numerically. We need to watch momentum in the next several weeks. Will it be Cruz or Kasich or Trump consolidating/running the table - what happens when C/K voters clash along the inevitable conservative / moderate fault lines? Everything is up in the air. Trump has a good chance to build internal support from here, at least partially.

In the GOP overall, how many non-Trumpers cave, how many hold? Even on Fox News you can just see the Republican commentators going to Trump; others resisting. This is playing itself out everywhere in the party, all levels. And, no matter who goes 3rd party (and I sincerely hope one of us does - Trumpers v NonTrumpers) this splits the vote roughly 60-40, somewhere in there. I know we are all focused on stopping Trump (and the Trumpers are focused on winning the nomination), but at some point we have to get to this math - we are divided more or less in half…against the Dems. I mean I was an English major and I can figure out that math in November…and please don’t tell me that Cruz will unite us all and defeat Hillary. The larger existential problem here is that there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
I think some of the things Trump has said is asinine, others were misquoted. That said, if he does end up being the candidate, I hope the party doesn’t split and a 3rd party is created because some of the GOP establishment is anti Trump. I want to see a candidate that will defeat Hillary. I was hoping that could be Rubio but it doesn’t look like that will happen. If Trump is the nominee though, I’ll listen to what he says and make up my own mind. The media will not make it for me. And if I have to write in a candidate I will, but not Hillary.

FYI, Hillary is not pro-choice, but pro-abortion.

When she was 1st Lady, she was responsible for closing Catholic Hospitals in my area, because they would not get reimbursed for services they provided to medicare and medicaid patients, if they did not provide abortions.

At the Cairo-5 Summit, she told 2nd and 3rd world nations that the US would not give then aid, if they kept abortion illegal.

Bravo! So well said. Just to clarify, though, trump didn’t inherit 100 million from his dad. That was a false story put out by the media.

Some people are supporting Trump by default. We had a generally poor selection of Republican candidates from the beginning, with a few exceptions. They have been eliminated for various reasons over time, leaving Trump, Cruz and Kasich. I won’t be voting for Trump in our primary but if he is the candidate in November I will support him,

No one is being forced to have an abortion, and she did say she’d fix the defects in Obamacare.

He only inherited about five million, so I guess that makes him poor.
Yet,look what he did with that five million,he turned it into billions.Lots of young adults would have squandered their trust. So kudos to Donald for his success. You certainly cannot fault him for that. With his mega money he has improved the quality of life for countless people providing employment.👍

It’s ridiculous how you are twisting my words. So it’s not important to get facts straight any more as long as we are talking about a rich man?

He borrowed one million from his dad to start out his business and paid it back quickly. When his dad died at around 1999 he was already very successful. He also has four siblings I think. The point is he didn’t inherit 100 million dollars like the media told you. If you don’t care about that, fine. I never said he was poor and he never claimed to come from a mailman family or a bartender dad or a maid as a mom.

How is it people don’t care to have any good will when it comes to trump? If the media makes up a little number and you don’t care, why should you care when they slander, insinuate, and libel, which they do all the time?

No, people don’t like him more because of these embarrassing episodes. We do, however, realize people go to bars and tell foolhardy jokes especially when they are young.

I always go back to the example of David who committed the sins of adultery and murderer. God can use all sorts of people for his purposes. We are not electing a secular pope.
And this isn’t the Old Testament.

It doesn’t seem the greatest idea to put one’s faith in an admitted adulterer, who publicly stated he hasn’t asked God for forgiveness (not to mention his other outrageous views) and hope for the best just because he reflects your anger.

So, what shall I do if it comes down to Trump versus Hillary? Shall I overlook the personal defects of Trump and vote for him as he said he is pro-life and that he can work with Putin, or shall I vote for Hillary and thereby guarantee the murder of more and more millions of innocent pre-born children? And it is not like Hillary and Bill don’t have personal defects also. Trump might have personal defects, but he does seem to have a pretty decent family life, at least from the many family pictures and news reports I have seen.
What family is that of which you speak? First, second, or third?

So the bottom line with your friend is that Trump is richer than when he started out?
