Just breaking tonight: Trump gave a speech to group of republicans tonight at Mar-a-lago. In order to qualm people’s doubts about him choosing conservative judges for the supreme court, Trump said he would compile a list of 5-10 conservative judges who are admired by all, and make a personal guarantee that his first nomination will be one of those judges.

What a brilliant idea to inspire confidence and bring the party together.
And help his chances of securing the GOP nomination.

So are you equating an unborn child with an unhatched chicken?

I agree that mitigating factors should be taken into account. There are mitigation experts who testify at the trials of people charged with murder. The sentence should fit the crime. A fourteen-year-old who is forced by her parents to abort a child, should receive counseling only, perhaps. The issue would be very complex, no doubt. But if abortion is murder, surely someone who chooses it would have to pay some penalty. We can’t say, “Well this kind of murder is okay, but another kind is not.”

Are you saying the life of the unborn is not as worthy as the life of the already-born? That’s the mantra of the pro-choice group.
No, that’s not what I’m doing. I specifically said that the life of unborn was not different in value, but only in the principle of potentiality. This is a real human life with the same value as an adult or that of a six year old, that must travel perilous months before birth. Care should be taken, though, so that we do not end up being one of those countries that prosecutes fetal demise or early miscarriage.

This is where the (evidently poorly chosen) agricultural analogy comes in; just as there are those who would say that a farmer should be paid a full price for grown hens for every ruined unhatched egg, when what the farmer is holding is truly a handful of ruined potential–well, suffice it to say I see a parallel there. An aborted baby is a baby. Beautiful, valuable, beloved of God. It is also a lifetime of potential, ruined and wasted. If thoughtless, with limited understanding, no less tragic, but certainly not the same as if done by willfully hardened hearts. There must be a penalty, yes, but the waste of two lifetimes? Where is the justice in that?

What you say is statistically inaccurate as far as Trump versus Hillary. . The poll of 500 people between Hillary and Trump shows Hillary 38% and Trump 36%. But It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.38 percent, This means that according to the poll cited Hillary and Trump are tied statistically. OTOH, it does show Sanders beating Trump.

But even taking into consideration the margin of error, McCain won Utah by 28 points and Romney won in Utah by nearly 40 points. The fact that the Deseret poll shows it this close between Trump and Clinton when Utah has been a safe Republican state in presidential elections, should ring alarm bells! And how can Sanders be beating Trump by such a margin in Utah?!

And, in turn, help Planned Parenthood get more cheerleaders – except for when it comes to abortion – in the GOP. Because nothing says “let’s overturn Roe v. Wade” like singing the praises of how “wonderful” Planned Parenthood is – except for when it comes to abortion. 🤷

Utah is a world all its own. Assuming this is true, and I’m not sure it is, Romney’s opposition to Trump is undoubtedly having a major effect.

I think we have to remember T. has insulted the Mormons who make up a large group of Utah voters.

I’m going to go out on a limb a little here: do you think Trump is actually being very smart about Utah? I.e. that perhaps he saw that his numbers there were too low to give him any chance of winning it, and decided to take an opportunity to rally anti-Romney sentiment in the country as a whole?

Trump puts GOP House majority in jeopardy

Republicans will probably also lose a majority in the Senate, although they have a difficult map with or without Trump.
If Democrats don’t retake the Senate majority this year, they face the prospect of a long winter in the minority, because the 2018 map puts them at a severe disadvantage that could leave them even further from the majority and any pick-up opportunities for the foreseeable future.
Just as this year’s Senate field offers ample opportunity for Democrats to pick up seats, the next election is stacked for the Republicans, and the one that follows has limited possibilities for Democratic gains.

Well apparently, winning in Utah wasn’t helpful to McCain OR Romney…

So, IF we were going to use this as any indication, Sanders beating Trump in Utah doesn’t bode well for Sanders, OR the Democrats.
