Rand Paul had some good things about him, but he had some maturing to do, IMO. The republican race needs to be over soon so all guns can be trained on hillary. She is the real scary one.
Cruz is not, repeat, is not Catholic. He and his Baptist preacher father both believe in Dominionism which is the basid for a theocracy. Google the term and the hair will stand up on the back of your neck! I have never questioned another person’s belief in their chosen theology, however; Cruz is one of the best at bible thumping politicians I’ve observed over the past fifty years. If he is the candidate, HRC will win in a walk away. American women, for one group will never, in a trillion years, vote for the Weasel. He is seen as anti woman and anti-intellectual which will be paramount in his massive loss in the general election. 😉

Trump, with his answers various times seems to think that waterboarding is torture. And he does seem to advocate for torture.

Here’s just one quote that I found in 2 seconds:

cnn.com/2016/03/22/politics/donald-trump-torture-brussels-abdeslam/index.html

He’s not even using any euphemism like, “enhanced interrogation” or anything to that effect. He’s using the word torture..
Tell me, then, what he means by “torture”. What is his definition by which one can judge that X is “torture” but “Y” isn’t?

What’s yours?

I’ve grown weary of this tired argument for torture that you repeatedly use. Torture has a defined meaning that does not change from person to person to government.

Utilization of violence or any disrespect for human dignity against a captive is torture. There isn’t a way to define your way out of it.

For some people, being locked in a room with bagpipe music playing in 24/7 and nothing to drink but single-malt whisky would be torture. For others (Alba gu bràth!), it would be a pleasant vacation from the day-to-day grind.

But…But…But…But…ABORTION!!

No doubt he’s using the word because it is now safe to use the word. A decade ago we had to find a PC alternative. But now, it’s acceptable.
Down the spiral goes. 😦

Oh cool, so we don’t need to let our prisoners sleep or eat? /s

starvation and sleep deprivation are some of the oldest torture methods around.

Except what happened in Brussels and what Trump had forewarned had a direct topical relationship. He warned about Brussels in January and got hit by the media for saying it, so he’s proven right by the event. And what he is saying about immigration has a direct bearing on what might happen in our country, which is what is coursing through citizen’s minds as we absorb news of the day.
And if it happened to slip their minds that Trump said something about this in January, Trump will be sure to take this wonderful opportunity to remind them. As always, he makes the story about himself.

The worse part is he calls it torture and people respond with resounding applause.

Quite frankly, it’s embarrassing.

I’m a lot less concerned with what happens to terrorists in our prison than with stopping them and keeping innocent people safe. There!

Waterboarding is humane compared to the death penalty, some can argue. I don’t mind death penalty either.

Let no tragedy go to waste…right? 😦

And THAT my friend is how a society can very easily elect, support, and even die for a dictator.
What was that quote from one of the Star Wars movies?
“So this is how liberty dies… with thunderous applause.”
😦

You pleasantly ignore that many of the victims of torture are only suspects. Why don’t we start torturing murder suspects? It’d be the exact same thing.

You also ignore that Trump demands that we take torture further than waterboarding.

The Church in your moniker disagrees.
I will stand with the Church.

As opposed to the maturity Donald has shown via numerous insults lobbed at fellow candidates, women, etc…
Wow! There can’t be many mature people on this earth, then, if this is the yardstick by which we judge them.

Trump is not trying to get elected in order to torture prisoners. He’s saying he’ll do what it takes to ensure national security.

You are saying that our legal system has no way of ever knowing whether someone is guilty or not. Trump is not advocating torturing mere suspects. He is saying if something needs to be done, which requires human judgment as in all cases, then something needs to be done.

When did trump say, let’s just torture all our prisoners whether they are guilty or not. Let’s just do it because we want to. No, he’s saying, if a situation arises where we need to take action, we won’t be worrying about hurting a terrorist’s human dignity. I agree with him.

Our legal system requires a trial and a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt.

He is advocating torture. In my last quote he was advocating torturing a suspect in the Paris attacks. What if the* suspect* were actually not guilty and had no information?

I’m sorry, while you agree with Trump, that view is not supported by the Church. 😦

Excuse me, but until a trial has been had. The person is indeed just a suspect. Can you show me a trial convicting those who were waterboarded at gitmo?

As to you comment about my thoughts on the legal system, are you being intentionally obtuse? Those who are guilty are convicted by trial using evidence and testimony. Something not afforded to supposed “terrorists”. It may not be perfect, but it’s surely better than summarily locking someone up and throwing away the key without the aforementioned.
