Do we know that waterboarding, whether it is technically considered torture or not, is truly effective? IOW, when a prisoner or terrorist is placed in these circumstances, does he tell the truth or does he make up something so that the “torture” stops?
Whether it is effective or not does not effect the question of whether it is moral or not.

That said, it is considered to be ineffective by the vast majority of professional interrogators, and no one has been able to point to any useful information gained by the waterboarding done a few years ago.

So you know all the little details of your husbands job? It isn’t that whether or not you’d know that he was a terrorist, it’s whether or not you would know targets, co-terrorists, locations of whatever one uses to blow things up, etc.
Well, when our house was broken into several years ago , and we were kept under gunpoint, my husband tied and pointing on his head and well, not a nice story…they stole our vídeo camera.
When they were captured, they had recorded something in their home where we could see at least one of their faces and their family or part of.
Mother in law (0k. No comments…😉 i) in her recorded conversation during that family event, allowed the police to realize that even if they did not know exactly where they had been ,they knew they had been " working".
So I guess it may really depend on each family.
Another family of kidnappers, who ended up killing I think two of their hostages, kept only the younger daughter out of it, bit Father involved his two teens. They worked in full light and nobody else knew.
We cannot be absolutely sure.

I’d say anything they wanted me to say in order to make them stop.
Interrogation is not just beating someone until they say what you want them to. It’s a very complicated process. Physical coercion is only one tool in the box.

He didn’t say murder them. He said go after them because they know what’s going on.
That is what I thought. If they know in advance that innocent people are going to be slaughtered, then they should be reporting it to the police. If they do not report it, they are at least partially complicit in a crime.

Is it not logical that they could fear reprisals that could get them or their children killed if they go to the authorities?

That’s a pretty bold statement. One that you can’t really prove.

Plenty of women can’t even see that their husband is having an affair…
I worked in military intelligence for many years. My wife had very little insight into what I did. To be fair, she knew I was military intelligence. But I knew people who were in more sensitive positions than mine whose wives did not know even that.

My late supervisor was in the military back in the Reagan era. One time he started talking about what he did. He knew fluent Russian and listened in on, and occasionally communicated with Russian military who were doing the same thing. Young and intrigued I asked the kind of things that were discussed, thinking James Bond stuff.
He said, no. Nothing like that. All they were interested in were American football games as they had quite a lot money invested in their favorite teams.
What a letdown. 😃
He was quite a guy.
Back to the OP.

According to a new Washington Post/ABC News Poll, a lot of Trump supporters seem to be angry white people who think they are losing out to minorities:
More than supporters of any other Republican presidential candidate, those backing Donald Trump think white people in America are “losing out” because of preferences for blacks and Hispanics, according to a Wednesday analysis from The Washington Post.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted earlier this month asked: “Which of these do you think is a bigger problem in this country — blacks and Hispanics losing out because of preferences for whites, or whites losing out because of preferences for blacks and Hispanics?”
More than half of Trump supporters, 54 percent, thought white people losing out was a bigger problem. The share of Trump’s supporters who believed whites were losing out was 12 points higher than the share of all Republican voters surveyed in the poll who believe this.

It’s called distraction.
Anytime Trump makes some bizarre, over-the-top statement the response is:
“Yeah…well…ABORTION!!!”
Crying shame the abortion holocaust is being used this way. Another example of how far we have fallen.
It’s pretty crazy how things get slanted.

I saw the extensive criticisms of Gov Kasich for not being “prolife enough” or however it was put. I’m at a total loss how anyone thinks that Kasich (or Cruz for that matter) is worse wrt abortion than Trump/Clinton are.

This is the threat.
And I really hurt for neighbours.
They " haven t seen nor heard anything".
You ve got to trust someone like your own life to open your mouth.

That is certainly a factor. I know a guy on Facebook who is a big Trump supporter who has some of the most racist posts I have ever seen. He is a white middle-aged evangelical whose last post read: the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim.

Most of Trump’s supporters are angry white males. The Democratic Party has plenty of white females, but not a lot of white males any longer, and certainly not angry ones.

Trump has just about destroyed the Republican Party, and if he’s not handed the nomination, I think he will really take it down by running third party, if it’s not too late.

He has a lot of white male supporters, but I don;t see any statistics on the number of them who are angry. Someone can just as easily say, without support, that most of Hillary’s supporters are angry feminists in favor of giving women the legal right to kill partially born children. Off the wall statements like that need some support to back them up, otherwise you may be found lacking in credibility.
