Well, now he’s changed his mind…
Oh, ok. Just saw the latest update.

Disregard my earlier comments - Trump has a new position. Alleluia. Yes, this is the ‘correct’ ‘standard’ prolife position, second time’s a charm.

If Mr. Trump wins the presidency, then I would assume that the Republicans will hold both houses of Congress.
The Republicans will control the House until at least 2022. The Senate is anyone’s guess since so many Republican seats are up for reelection this fall.

They’ll never do it, which is the point.

Republicans and Democrats will not pass a law with a penalty that punishes the woman nor the doctor.

Its the reality of politics which we as Catholics have to begin to understand.

Remember, George Bush was a Republican president with a Republican controlled Congress.

They never sought to outlaw all abortions.

Jim
So, you don’t think the Republicans are truly pro-life?

Unfortunately, priest for life are also dodging the question.

If a law to ban abortion is made, the woman would have to be punished for violating the law, as well as the doctor.

There would be no abortionists if women didn’t seek abortions.

Jim
True, 100% true.

Again, 100% agreement.

I think that they were wrong and that Mr. Trump is correct. Just as a woman is punished if she murders her sister, so should she be punished if she murders her unborn child.
Yes, but the argument as I understand it, is how should she be punished. Death penalty? Steep fine? 10 years? 30 hours of community service? A warning?

Some Republicans may be soft on this issue, but one thing is absolutely sure and that is that both Hillary and Sanders are 100% in favor of a women’s “right” to abort.

You really think if Mr. Trump wins the presidency that he doesn’t have coattails enough to keep the Senate Republican. I can see losing a few seats in that case, but not 5.

If Trump became president, I believe the Democrats would win back both the Senate and the House in 2018, by a large number.

Also, you won’t see a bill sent to him banning all abortions or any abortions for that matter.

We already have a ban on partial birth abortion

That’s assuming that all women are there voluntarily and without coercion and know for a fact what they are carrying is a baby and not a “product of conception” or any other euphemism. 30 something years ago my classmate had an abortion. She was 15 and her boyfriend was 24. He strung her along telling her his sister would adopt the baby. He then conveniently disappeared. A “friend” took her for an abortion. She had no clue about fetal development.

Weeks later in study hall she was sobbing like a wounded animal. And repeating the same phrase, “it had arms, it had legs.” Apparently she saw her baby after the procedure. I had never witnessed anyone grieve like that before. Lots of people failed her.

As I type this, I remember it was about 30 years ago. Not was right after Easter break. I will never forget. I wish at 16 I knew what to do to help her

Well, there is 2017 and 2018 then, but it sounds like you think that the Congressional Republicans are pro-choice. Personally against abortion, but not going to actually do anything legislatively about that.

How gullible does Trump think prolifers are? These comments and revisions will make their blood run cold.

You’re proving that education is the key to preventing abortions which I agree with. 👍.

Jim

I always wondered why I was uncomfortable in the “pro-life” movement. Now I learn that most of them think that women should be able to murder their child and have no consequences. They actually think that she is the “victim”.

I had always wondered why the pro-life movement has gotten no where in the past 50 years. Now I see it is because the pro-life movement will not speak the truth because it hurts people’s feelings. Apparently “abortion is murder” but it’s a special kind of murder that should receive no punishment.

And Trump backtracked on this anyway, so nobody will speak common sense anymore.

😦

Most are pro-choice.

They say they’re pro-life to win the votes in their republican districts.

However, if they were truly pro-life and opposed to abortion, we would’ve seen legislation written and passed during Bush’s presidency.

It didn’t happen and wasn’t even proposed

Do you take into account their stance on abortion when you vote for them?
