Credit for wanting to attend mass?
A lifetime of friends and family attending mass I have to give credit to someone who went once and is not going back?
That reminds how little kids get an applause for making their first Doo Doo.
The credit dries up after a while.
50-60 years of Gold Star attendance, with no public credit? None expected? I don’t get this credit thing. Maybe because you think I’m a liberal.
 
Like it or not, for Christian values and that is most important to me, I think this administration has been largely way better than any recent administration.

We have set aside a lot of funding, from the Middle East and rebuilding Christian churches to helping out refugees here. We have been pretty careful with military action.

We set aside a whole lot of tax breaks AND investment into American Inner Cities, the press hasn’t reported on this enough.

The list goes on.

There is no real rebuttal without providing a platform for someone to run down a laundry list.

Better to just flag it and move on.
He would have to tell a minimum of 10 lies, documented, every single day for the entirety of the presidency to get that number.

They don’t have it.

Ultimately it erodes credibility.

In my opinion only, half the “Catholic” posters on this site would be horrified if he wanted to become Catholic. He’s not worthy of that perch; its reserved for them. You see, he’s imperfect and incapable of change. Your post evokes that.

I think most of us think better of the Mass than to make that comparison. I don’t doubt Trump does too.

Trump wasn’t present in person.

Cardinal Dolan mentioned he was watching and said happy birthday to Melanie.

And support the abortion party continues to represent the one issue argument of Catholic piety offered by Republicans
And finally you know well I made no negative comment about the mass or him going. Just the fuss over a politician attending a single mass in an election year. O

Here is not what I think, but what I know:

I know that virtually regardless of the topic, you go after Trump with post after post. In some cases, your criticism of Trump is fine. I don’t think he’s perfect. But, you seem to have a singular focus that no matter what is said of Trump, he is to be attacked.

This thread is titled “Trump to attend mass…with Cardinal Dolan”. And true to form, you proceed to attack him on this thread. Really? Can’t you pass up one thread without an attack, especially one thread that should be about a very good thing: Our president attending (even if via TV) a Catholic mass. Must you be critical of him on this topic?

If you scroll up, you will see an approving post about his going. I do mention that such a trip to the City, and Saint Patrick’s, would be an appropriate place to say something about the dead, and the City’s suffering.
I really don’t know what he said if anything.

I did not comment on him or the mass. I commented on the " romance" of his attending a single mass. I said nothing negative about him. Basically, my comment reading it again was about the significance of attending a single mass. Looking back, maybe I should have let people bask in whatever they chose to make of it if that tickles their fancy. Sorry for my insensitivity in that regard.
Now my turn. I didn’t attack him but you percieved that I did. Then you described my reprobate past.

Cardinal Dolan said he was watching via internet.
 
I didn’t watch the whole mass. I watched part of the homily. Cardinal Dolan said he read Mr. Trump was watching. He assured him that he was praying for leaders, and wished Melanie a happy birthday.
