Excuse me if I’m dubious, but as a biracial young man myself, I don’t see how my life is so hard in the 21st century.
You should understand that the effects of past discriminatory practices persist. The question for our society is what will be done about that situation.

Excuse me, there is a history behind black power that connotes negative emotions that as Catholics we are leery of.
Just because Catholics were leery of it does not make it racist. Cardinal Spellman (at the behest of Hoover) tried to keep Pope Paul VI from meeting with Dr. King. I guess the cardinal was leery.

That’s anecdotal, whereas I speak of the history of a MOVEMENT.

The Church as a whole was behind the civil rights movement not the black power movement and there is a reason for that.

The video showed groups of leftist protesters surrounding drivers, screaming expletives and calling them Nazis.

One man, obviously tired of the abuse, claps back “Yeah white power” and the protesters have a violent tantrum.

It’s amusing how frightened liberals are of a word or phrase, while they have no problem with actual violence.
I think it is important to recognise that after the anti Trumper’s shouted ‘white right’ and ‘racists’ several times, they then yelled out ‘white power’ and it was immediately then that the slogan was yelled back in return. Obviously the anti Trumpers were projecting their chants onto the Trump supporters and thought that when one of their chants was returned this was validation of their projection.

I think there is a certain group of people so intent on seeing the other as racist that when someone mocks their own racist chants by repeating it back to them this somehow counts as the second party being racist.

That looks embarrassingly desperate to me.

I watched a BLM protest this morning, raising the fist in the air. Does it not mean “black power”??

Trump was wrong in doing this, it be in error or however but again, I would not get carried away, when the abortion lobby is one of the Democrats biggest special interests and currently, 33% of African American unborn are aborted though they are only 12-13% of the population. You know, black lives matter.

I’m a child of the fifties and sixties. Your statement about Church official policy is very qualified. I’m not going into specifics but other than Father Coppi, Viola Liuzzo, the Berrigans and some nuns, you did not see a whole lot of Catholics picketing about civil rights. When that bulldozer backed over the protester in Cleveland at a segregated housing project the clergyman was Protestant. Some priests were addressees of MLK’s “Letter From a Birmingham Jail”.

How is this in any way racist? People have bad encounters with other people all the time. Glover and his ilk need to get over themselves.
Yes, indeedy. You sound like Ben Carson: ‘Black folks should ignore those racist indignities.’

Must be a lot of sleepless nights for Trump campaign workers…each day its one more thing that satisfies his base but drives away those who voted for change and are disappointed today.

No, actually that gesture started with the anti-fascists fighting against Franco in Spain in 1936. If it does mean 'Black Power", so what?

Well, it’s going to be contradictory if one can say “black power” but not “white power”.

Anyway, Dr. Martin Luther King’s niece, Alvita is still very active with Conservatives per your other statement.

When the Olympians held their fists up in 1968, I doubt if people associated that with Spain, pretty empty comparison really.

Yes, what’s next? That the Sieg Heil per above is just from the Roman Salute? I’m sure.

This is not something we pulled out of thin air.
Absolutely, if people are getting beat up, that is bad BUT,

Silent Witness above made reference how these people may have said it back to something from the anti-Trumpers, I don’t know but that may be so, it makes sense. If so, this is the proverbial tempest in a teacup.

Look around the country today. America’s cities are burning, and the people behind the violence certainly aren’t the ones saying “White Power.”
In 2019:
“FBI Director Christopher Wray said that the bureau has made “about the same number” of domestic terrorism arrests as international terrorism arrests so far this year and that a majority of domestic cases are motivated by white supremacy.”.

What city is burning?

BLM, known for burning, looting, and murdering was marching through a private gated community (I doubt they had permission), chanting “We gonna kill the cops today!”

Seeing as the police have proven incapable or unwilling to protect citizens from the rioters, the couple had no other good choice.

Fascinating, because George Lincoln Rockwell had a cordial relationship with the Black Power movement in the 60’s. You can find photographs of him and his followers larping as Nazi stormtroopers at Black Power rallies.

That earns a “prove it”. I listened to some of the clips, but not all.

So what. Of course there are some good people who believe in white power. It’s just not now . it’s brown red greed gray power that is acceptable.
