Well its subjective to a degree for sure. 2015 was a bad year for Gibson as they attempted to stray from the status quo of traditional style with G-Force tuners and in effect what was a zero nut and brass similar to the 60s Gretsch US instruments. I thought their 2014 electronics and craftsmanship was top notch for production line. You start talking Custom Shop and your talking even here 10 G. So it becomes a matter of buying the original or the historic reproductions. Not much difference. I still play a LP Standard and a Strat. My doctor just bought a 61 Johnny Smith for 10G and they go as high as 14-15. He plays jazz on the weekends. That said the 61 he bought over for me to look at the electronics. The B string is too pronounced and has no pole adjustment on the model. So I told him I can take the p-u apart and push the B magnet down or find the original 61 specs and I would build him another. Or just buy another 61 or a repo. Anyway even then in the Golden era there were lemons and QC issues or like with the 61 non adjusting poles. etc.
Anyway glad to hear your playing music its a fantastic past time. A Tele and LP?
They do good work elsewhere, I heard about a Russian name brand that was suppose to be really decent you never see them here though. Dean was importing a LP style with SD electronics [US] from Czechoslovakia which I liked. But you guys have the Marshall, VOX and Bare Knuckles pick-ups, everyone likes it here. I play through a VOX AC-15.
