Is there anybody on CAF who is afraid that Trump’s “extreme vetting” process has actually made America more vulnerable to a terrorist threat than it was pre-Trump?
Because of retaliation?

If I was American I’d be far more afraid now than after 9/11.

I’m relieved to be on the other side of the world - but only somewhat relieved.
I’ve pointed out the need to note negative feed-back loops such as that.

However, I also think folks need to realize that the radicals are coming for us either way. They think they have some God-given manifest destiny to conquer the world.

But I’d rather have the enemy on the outside and in front than among us or behind us.

👍👍

Yeah, maybe the protestors wanted and expected her to win.
But most people wouldn’t expect a reality show buffoon to get elected president. Only in America!
Terrible candidate?
If anyone watched the debates, they saw that Hillary mopped the floor with that guy.

Is he describing Trump here?

.
If Hillary mopped the floor with Trump, why did she lose?

He was referring to the anti-Trump people.

Newsflash…Trump won!

Oh goodness, I wouldn’t call him a “monster”. You need brains for that. I would say ‘manchild with narcissistic personality disorder’ would be on point. 👍 The grandiose sense of self-importance, lack of empathy, arrogant and haughty behaviors and attitudes… If an ego is threatened in any way, perhaps by a tweet, people with said disorder usually respond in a vindictive, angry impulsive (and lets face, chil-toddler like) way. And unfortunately for our country, he can’t help it. 🤷 People like that are extremely sensitive and insecure and he’s most likely psychologically wired to require constant affirmation through compliments and attention.
Again, if you are trying to convince people, change hearts, or save souls, this does the exact opposite. Ranting about your unverifiable feelings towards the man and calling names may feel good in the same way losing your temper and punching a wall does, but is better left for Facebook and comments’ sections of new articles. It adds no value on a Catholic forum and frankly, turns more people in the middle off than it does persuade them.

Irrespective of the numerical odds of dying a terror-related death, if people are afraid, there is a societal cost. Government has to address that cost.

We should feed and support irrational fears? We should encourage fear of other humans who are statistically less likely to kill us than hot tap water?

Please explain to Europe this is an irrational fear.

Yeah, same people that think if you put a valuable in a locked safe then it invites thieves.
Anyone who is going to blow up a school bus or shoot a priest was going to mosey on in and do so regaurdless if they were “offended” about vetting.
It seems to me that some do not understand the psyche of these terrorists. Their brand of Islamism says that all who are not of the Islam faith should either convert or be killed. I don’t think that is hard to understand.

Why are we talking about Europe? Does the vetting process that took place under Obama relate in some way to Europe? If so, how?
No, yet some probably thought it an irrational fear of terrorism until last year. Not so irrational now

What are the specific differences between the vetting processes used in various Europe countries and that used during the Obama administration?

I am commenting that fear of terrorism is not irrational as you seem to think

And I’m asking you to prove it by demonstrating your knowledge of the differences between the vetting processes used in various countries.

I think we are talking about 2 different things
No, we’re not. You claim a fear of refugee terrorists in the US is rational. I’ve explained why it isn’t – the odds are starkly and overwhelmingly against it. You refuse to accept statistical data and you’ve tried to deflect by bringing up Europe’s fears. This, then, opens the door to a comparison of vetting processes. So I ask you again to describe the differences between these vetting processes.

Fine, you don’t think the fear is justifird. I do as well as many others. I am not an official as I’ve told you before. Why are you asking me? I trust the officials that say we have a problem in our vetting process. Is that so hard for you to understand?
