Jeanne, I admitted that the economy is good, unemployment is down, GDP growth is up.

BUT, I am not willing to trade that for the trashing of American democracy. If you want a little insight into how people who oppose Trump feel, think about that. Don’t just dash off another quick post.

The press is not the enemy of the people. The founding fathers thought a free press was very important to hold leaders accountable. Dictators want their people to believe that the press is always lying, so the people won’t believe the truth that the press is writing about them.

The rule of law, and following the rule of law, is very important to keeping american democracy going. Trump doesn’t even know what the rule of law is, but he instinctively breaks it.

He is such an inveterate liar he lied about his father being born in Germany, when he was born in Brooklyn.

That is why I resist Trump. He is a bad person trying to blow up the American system of government.
And that is admirable if one is saying they have never voted for pro-choice abortion enabling politicians but some don’t even cower from that point. If one does, forget about it per being so sanctimonious.

Trump didn’t give away Crimea.

Let’s talk about real sins then.

I’m sure many of us have had private conversations one wouldn’t want to be known to everyone.

A private conversation 20 years ago. Big deal.

You say he lied 20,000 or 10,000 times, again, that is from the leftist press.

The administration has yet to put forth a serious legal defense to providing the tax returns. It will be interesting to see if they can come up with one (which seems doubtful), or if the President will be required to follow the same laws as the rest of us. Of course, the real question is whether the SC will enforce the laws as written, or come up with some reason not to do so in this instance.
The only requirements for 250 years per the constitution is to be 35 or over and a natural born citizen. Pretty simple actually. Now, one wants to change those laws for one person? Now, tell me, where the discrimination is? It will be laughed out of court. You can’t change the requirements to be president and if you did, maybe the votes of your state won’t count at all.

This is just more ill will from the left unfortunately.

I’m amazed that people are still talking about Trump’s tax returns as though the future of our nation depends on them entering the public domain.
Agreed. Trump, his private life, his tax returns, his hubris, and his Presidency are totally irrelevant to the future of our nation…all that matters is if this great national nightmare will come to an end…and it will in 2020 when he will be relegated to the dust bin of history.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us!
Correct. It is none of your business what is in his tax returns. To conflate his policies with his private life is a violation of his privacy.

Somewhere in here I think you are accusing me of something but I’m not quite sure.

I have never admitted in private to assaulting women because I’m a celebrity and I can.

He lied about where his father was born, a verifiable fact! He is simply a liar. Admit it! You excuse all of his other faults, embrace this one, too.

What’s really frightening is those sodeeply entrenched in their hatred of Trump would rather cut off their noses to spite themselves, disregarding the good things being done for everyone not just republicans. So sad and pathetic
What’s more sad and pathetic is that Trump’s followers refuse to allow anyone to disagree with anything he says or does without calling it “hatred.” Not only do they think he’s above the law, they think he’s above any disagreement or criticism.
That’s scary.

How many time will the “Trump called the free press the enemy of the people” lie going to be repeated here on CAF? if you want to criticize someone for “lying” then try not to spread lies when doing it.
Seriously?

I will repeat because it does seem there is quite a bit of partisanship here,

Again, anyone who votes for the Democrats is voting for, in general, very pro-abortion on demand politicians now, extending into late term, infanticide, higher abortion rates on minorities, etc. etc… It’s none of my business how one votes but there is no harm in stating this. Anyone who does, has done as bad or worse in my view.

No one is accusing you, however, at the same time, you certainly have posted sources from at least, one abortion extremist publication, Rolling Stone, no beacon of morality. Also, it is the left mainly that are accusing him of lying.

As for me, it’s easy to just say, No, I never vote for abortion enabling politicians. Maybe I did 2 plus decades ago, one time but that is the only time.

If anyone feels they can not answer that question, so be it. And I will say, that’s just as bad as what Trump is accused of, worse in my book, to vote for say, Obama who voted 4 times against the Born Again Infant Protection Act.

Sorry, this is a Catholic forum and pro-life attitudes run deep into the Church.

The requirements for office have nothing to do with the request for the tax return. After the Teapot Dome Scandal, the Congress passed a law requiring the Treasury to provide copies of tax returns to Congress upon request. That was expressly done to facilitate’s Congress oversight of the executive branch. That has been the law for nearly 100 years, and there has never been a successful challenge to the law or to Congress’ authority to conduct this kind of oversight. The administration has not explained why that law does not apply now.

I have literally NEVER voted for a Democrat.

Rolling Stone? It was the first link that came up in a search I did. I don’t keep a list of left-leaning publications and right-leaning publications. I read and I evaluate.

I have never confused the country my father was born in. Have you?
As for me, it’s easy to just say, No, I never vote for abortion enabling politicians. Maybe I did 2 plus decades ago, one time but that is the only time.
My neither. Don’t think I ever voted for a pro-abortion candidate.

Victoria, you don’t know anything about me. You don’t know about how my first son was born with a severe birth defect and died when he was three. You don’t know that my wife and I used NFP for decades to conceive and to prevent pregnancy. You don’t know anything about me.

But, what I DO know is that I am unwilling to compromise myself by supporting a lying adulterer who is proud of assaulting women and shows no respect for the our system of government. Just to get a couple of Supremes and some tax cuts. No way.

You are correct.

Okay, I can respect that.

In turn, one could talk of faith without good works being dead.

It’s a good work, if North Korea is not firing missiles at the world routinely, it is good works if black unemployment and Hispanic, are at their lowest mark ever. It is a good work, if Trump got out of the way and left the military handle ISIS… and these are tough decisions, many civilians apparently have been killed but ISIS is one of those great evils like the Nazis.

Be unwilling to compromise and we have nothing of this.

A lot of people vote, not because they love candidate A or B. They vote for whom they think will best help the country, for what is best for the country.

Victoria, thank you.

I think we need to separate what any President would have done, and what Trump has done.

I’m not sure that Trump’s chaotic foreign policy accomplished what a more traditional approach to North Korea would have. Was it just time? I don’t know. Maybe crazy dictator talking to wannabe crazy dictator actually accomplished what no one else could have.

The unemployment rate under Trump has continued the trend under Obama. GDP is up, too. Is this just Trump not screwing things up? We don’t know.

But, in no way do I think that Trump was the best Republican candidate, just like I think the Democrats could have probably come up with a lot of people better than Hillary. I didn’t like either one of them. I didn’t vote for either of them.

Yes, Seriously. look up the actual quote. Trump very obviously says that about fake new specifically, not the free press.
No, he’s called major media outlets fake news when he didn’t agree with what they wrote about him.

Better to pray if the Dems take over, since they will promote abortion unlike Trump.

One thing one can say about relations with NoKo, at least it hasn’t cost us anything, unlike under Bush and Obama. They haven’t de-nuked, and we still have sanctions in place.

Obama never said that he fondled women as a famous person, only that one could. He was making fun of groupies at the time. Obama, as far as we know, never said a similar thing, but then, Trump didn’t enable ISIS to kill thousands of people, like Obama did, either. As between the two, I’m less appalled at the vulgar statement.

If Trump was the only Repub candidate who could have beaten Clinton, then he was the best choice.

He absolutely never said the free press is the enemy of the people like you tried to claim. look up the quote. He said that about fake news.

Wow.

You do know that he routinely calls CNN and the New York Times “Fake News”, don’t you? They are members of the free press.

Yes, they are members of the free press, and can continue to spread fake news as long as people are gullible.
