speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into TIM’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
 
I will keep praying for you Tim. I hope the side effects will be minimal/nonexistent and that your liver function will stay at 100 percent. God will be walking with you every step of the way.

Thanks everyone! Great results on the blood tests - I am now more healthy than I was a year ago - thanks to losing weight through chemo and radiation!

But seriously, the loss of weight has been a boost to my health and the seriousness of my illness has me eating only the most nutritious stuff I can find, so that is also a boost - and now I’m walking or riding a bike daily. In many ways - I’m like a very healthy 48 year old man.

I just have “incurable metastases” on my liver. And yet again - my liver function is totally normal. Seems like my body wants to act as if there is no cancer!

So I am a “go” for next week’s chemo…yay?:confused:

Your Duck is Dead–

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary’s examination room. As she laid
her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to
the bird’s chest.

After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, “I’m
sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away.”

The distressed woman wailed, “Are you sure?”

“Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead,” replied the vet.

“How can you be so sure?” she protested. “I mean you haven’t done any
testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something.”

The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a
few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck’s owner
looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front
paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom.
He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few
minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and
also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on
its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the
room.

The vet looked at the woman and said, “I’m sorry, but as I said, this is
most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck.”

The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a
bill, which he handed to the woman.
The duck’s owner, still in shock, took the bill. “$150!” she cried,
“$150 just to tell me my duck is dead!” The vet shrugged, “I’m sorry. If
you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but
with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it’s now $150.”

This is beautiful.

His faith is much better than mine! I am in fear that reconciling myself to His will might mean accepting dying of cancer within a year or 18 months, or whenever.

Of course a very wise Catholic whom I work with said to me, " GOD didn’t come down and tell you you had a year or two to live. That was a couple doctors. We don’t KNOW what God wants and it isn’t your job to know the mind of God - but you can petition him with prayer.

That really helped me.

Here I am learning these things at age 48!🤷

Dear Saint Peregrine, I need your help, I feel so uncertain of my life right now. This serious illness makes me long for a sign of God’s love. Help me to imitate your enduring faith when you faced the ugliness of cancer and surgery. Allow me to trust the Lord the way you did in this moment of distress. I want to be cured, but right now I ask God for the strength to bear the cross in my life. I seek the power to proclaim God’s presence in my life despite the hardship, anguish, and fear I now experience. O Glorious Saint Peregrine, be an inspiration to me and petitioner of these needed graces from our loving Father. Amen.
