A Prayer to St. Peregrine for Sick Relatives and Friends

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty”, the “The Wonder Worker” because of the numerous miracles which you obtained from God for those who have turned to you in their need. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being. You turned to God when the power of human beings could do no more, and you were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His cross to heal your affliction. I now ask God to heal these sick persons whom I entrust to you:

Yesterday a doctor found a tumor inside me (I don’t even want to say where). This coming Monday, they will take out some or all of it and biopsy it. It could be cancerous, it could be benign - I don’t know and won’t know for at least a week.

My mind has been on the rollercoaster since then - everything from heroic recovery, to being in the casket!
I know the imagination is one of God’s gifts, but it’s working against me since yesterday.

Not knowing, and waiting, are the worst!

Dear Max37,

I think I’ve been on that “rollercoaster” before…many of us have, purely human. Yes, the waiting is the hardest part, very true and I’ve been there. Before I had a serious surgery I was very anxious and as clear as I’ve ever heard the Lord speak to me the words came to me “I can’t work through your fear only your faith”. Hebrews has that wonderful verse on what faith is (Hebrews 11:1) When I went through this period I remember writing verses of hope and encouragement in faith from His sacred Word on cards and posted them in various places in my home. They were constant helpful reminders:)

Thanks again everyone!

I survived last week’s chemo without any major problems -
I even went to a family wedding and played in the string quartet less than 24 hours after chemo!

I’ll be getting cat-scanned in about a week.
I hope to hear results of that quickly, but I may not hear anything until the week after that.

These are the times I think of the possibility of miracles! Like getting scanned and showing NOTHING! That is what many of us are praying for, but I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up.

Tim you looked good in the photo’s! I prayed for you today before the Blessed Sacrament.While on holiday in a giant shopping Mall i found a catholic chapel with Our Blessed Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.I went in and said prayers for you.I am still praying for a miracle .Glad you got through the chemo last week & praying for your cat scan to show good results

Put your mind, soul, concentration, and prayers upon God. With God all good things are possible. I will pray to St Peregrine and St Anthony for you.

I should be getting scanned this week (Wed, Thur or Fri). I’m hopeful the tumors on the liver will have shrunk. Better yet, maybe some (or all) will be gone?

In either case, I have what we cancer types call “Scanziety” :rolleyes:

A friend and two-time cancer survivor sent me a letter this week - no personal message at all, just a picture of St. Jude and how to pray to him. (I knew nothing of St. Jude)
I guess it’s time to learn.

We`ll be praying for you Max. St. Jude and St. Rita have great “track records” of interceding for us and getting our prayers answered even when they are “desperate causes.”

Have you considered receiving Annointing of the Sick? You don`t need to be on your death bed to receive it. Priests will administer it as long as one has a serious/grave illness. That might be helpful.

I am planning on visiting the National Shrine/Basilica on Friday so I will light a big candle for you as I pray for your full recovery. I will be praying for you as I say the rosary tonight. I have fallen off the wagon on the rosary front so praying for you will help me get jumpstarted!
