Story continued at link
A Turkish woman who killed and decapitated her rapist will not be permitted to abort the fetus that was conceived in the attack, a Turkish court has ruled.

The woman, Nevin Y., has repeatedly stated her to wish to abort the baby, but the court has denied her request on the grounds that that the fetus is now 29 weeks old.
She severed his head and left it in the village square.

You know, I’d be thinking very hard about giving a woman who took such drastic action to free herself from her rapist what she wants.

As for what she did, women are frequently killed in “honour killings” that are no less horrific than what she did to her rapist, that doesn’t make what she did right, but I can empathize with her.

I fully support what she did to the rapist. I don’t support doing it to the child though.

A comment I must comment on:
I understand the court’s sentence as no country allows abortion after week 22.
Sadly this is not true. Canada at least allows abortion up to the moment of birth.

Chuld should not be punished for the father’s crime. Abortion would had further trauma

I agree with the first sentence about the child. As for the second sentence (since the mother is reportedly seeking an abortion she can’t get) - the proper explanation could change the situation to everyone’s satisfaction.

A Turkish official could explain to her " … we really can’t have people taking the law into their own hands as you have done. You admittedly killed a man and he had no trial.

We should demand the death penalty of you … but you are pregnant and it would be unjust to kill an innocent child. Don’t ever do that again."

The woman wants an abortion but an abortion is never justified, not even when it is the result of a rape. Also, she brutally murdered her rapist. And while you might say it was self defense, I can almost certainly say she used excessive force if it was self defense.

It is hard to call decapitation “self-defense” unless she was defending herself with a scimitar.

The state better be willing to remove the child immediately after the birth and place him/her up for adoption. This is one angry woman and the child is in jeopardy.

And the Turkish court is correct. You don’t murder an innocent child just beause some other person commited a heinous crime.

Think about it: “Hey, that guy over there raped someone! Let’s repay him by killing this child over here!

I mean, how stupid is that? Thats why the whole “exceptions for rape and incest” shtick is a bunch of Barbara Streisand**.

why with the ban on profanity and vulgarity,do posters insist on being cute with abbreviations hidden in names ? is it to feel more clever then all the dolts who obey the rules. real rebels i guess unlike all us sheep.

Getting raped kind of does that to a person.

Are you talking to me? I left a letter out of my name because when you sign up to the forum and choose a screen name you can only (name removed by moderator)ut 15 charachters into the field, and CatholicCrusader has 16 charachters. Hence, I had to pick a letter to leave out.

Make sense?

Look, I am not going to applaud what she did, because vigilante justice doesn’t help anyone in the long run. However, I most definitely understand why she did it. I would not condone a parent decapitating someone they’ve just witnessed hurting their child, but I would understand their motivations, as I am sure most would here. Why is it so hard to believe and shocking that this woman did something out of rage, because of something despicable done to her?

I have not been raped but i have been molested. I cannot even begin to imagine what it feels like to be a rape victim, and so i am less inclined to judge her actions. It is not as if she went away, and then meditated on how she would kill him for months.

Edited to add: I just realised that he had been raping her continuously for months, so this might have been premeditated. Still, I think some compassion for her is in order. Rape is horrific. I am curious as to why she did not take steps to prevent these things from happening (as in reporting the crime earlier etc) but then again I dont know Turkey so i am going to reserve my judgment.

I have total compassion for her too, and I don’t think I really even blame her for what she did. The culteral norms for punishing crime is different over there. Even the Jews stoned people to death.

But all that still doesn’t condone aborting the baby. The baby didn’t do anything wrong.

Good for her! 👍 Now, the baby, well that’s another story. If she wasn’t able to get emergency help after her rape (which she most likely did not), then there’s not much she can do about it because of the laws where she lives. We should pray for her that this baby may bring peace and joy into her life. Not every woman can do that, and this woman is having tremendous difficulty with it. I pray, whatever comes of it, that she finds peace in her life.

The fact that she was being continuously raped makes her actions not just more understandible, but I admire her courage. She probably couldn’t get help, being that she lived in Turkey.

Alright guys…

What happened was disgusting. This woman getting raped was a horrible tragedy; however it seems like most people here are condoning not only murder, but an EXTREMELY violent murder.

She cut the guys head and put it out in the middle of the square for display.

Everything about this case is riddled with sin and disgust. Her rape, his murder, and now the attempted abortion of the child.

I mourn for things like this.

The only good thing out of this case was that the life of the child may be spared.
