COMIC SPOILERS

Yes, I know!!! I don’t want to see that happen as well, but I think if they want to keep it in line with the comic, they should. Apparently the only happy thing that has happened in the whole comic (at least according to my husband) was when Rick found his wife and son in the beginning. Afterward, it has been one tragedy and heartache after another. It’s just a continual beating up and often times, as seen with his wife and baby, it’s not from the walkers, but from other living humans.

That would be interesting to see how the Vatican would handle this. It seems from the first season that it was a world-wide epidemic, so I’m wondering if the Vatican would be untouched. What would happen if even the leaders of the Church were affected?

I really felt sorry for Herschel, but agree with you that he was being foolish. You could see how heartbroken he was and how much of his “innocence” in his belief that his loved ones and friends were only sick was just ripped from him after Shane’s explosion. Shane is a loose cannon and although he was right that it was foolish and dangerous to keep the walkers in the barn, the way he handled it was completely wrong and out-of-control. From what my husband tells me, in the comic, Rick is the one who actually leads in getting rid of them, although not in the same way as Shane. I think Shane is in a downward spiral of lunacy and I have a feeling we may see the end of him by the season’s completion. I wonder if his end will be the same as in the comic.

(THOSE WHO HAVEN’T BEEN READING THE COMIC OR DON’T HAVE FRIENDS/RELATIVES READING THE COMIC FILLING THEM IN, MAY WANT TO STOP READING HERE)

That action is apparently what gets them thrown off the farm. I guess we’ll have to see if Herschel throws them off in the show. I think he will after this. Otherwise, how will they get to the prison (which is an interesting part of the story in the comic… that is where I’ve read a couple of the issues.)

It was very sad, but I thought that the show either was going to go one way in which the group would suddenly find her alive, or the the “Kirkman” way, where they would discover that she was dead. I thought it was a good way of magnifying the heartbreak of Herschel and his difficulty in shooting his loved ones, once this once sweet, little girl came out of the barn. No one in the group could shoot because it was a person they knew and cared about, not even Shane could shoot. Very interesting that Rick was the one who had to put an end to it.

My sister tells me that Sophia is actually still around in the comic (she and my husband are up to the most recent comic of Kirkman’s and are just waiting for the next edition.) It’s interesting that they decided to not keep her on in the show, but there are so many characters in the actual comic, many of which who aren’t in the show, I guess they really can’t have too many on a tv show. It wouldn’t work as well as it does in a comic.
I’ve long played with the idea of writing a ‘fan made papal encylical’ about a zombie apocoplypse. I may one day do it.

I have read to comics, and she did survive the hershal farm, incident, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she’s still alive there… bessides,Carl as he gets older, will need a romantic interest I suppose.

I love this show. But I find this quote interesting. It makes you wonder who the Walking Dead really are?

Ok… who has been following the last few episodes? Extremely stressful and intense!

If you haven’t followed it lately, don’t read on because I don’t want to give anything away.

I was wondering if they were going to follow the comic and show that everyone… alive or dead… is actually the walking dead. It didn’t matter whether or not you were bit by a walker. When you died, you became a walker. This last episode showed that with Randal and Shane. I had a feeling in the other episode when Shane and Rick saw those two police officer walkers had no bites, but scratches, that it was leading to the revelation that they were all the walking dead.

I wasn’t surprised about Shane’s demise. He was riding on too much luck and this world was really making him have less humanity. Also, in the comic he was gone much sooner, so it was time for him to go. Although, I did like his character. I was surprised about Dale because he does last longer in the comic (although is eventually killed) and he does have a relationship with Andrea, which is not shown in the show. And Dale was the voice of trying to keep civility and humanity no matter how horrible the world became, whereas Shane seemed to represent the loss of humanity. What is going to happen now without Dale’s (name removed by moderator)ut?

I don’t know what to make of Rick killing Shane, though. I know in the comic it was actually his son, Carl, who shoots and kills him (although in the episode he does kill him as a walker) and later when Rick and the others find out that you do become a walker after you die, he goes back to Shane’s grave, digs him up and “kills” him, I guess so that he wouldn’t be trapped in the grave as a walker and be in that state of being. I do think that Shane was planning on murdering Rick that evening, but I’m not sure if Rick could have talked him out of it. That said, who’s to say that Shane would try again? I thought that there might have been some sort of rethinking of conscience on Shane’s part after Rick came back for him to save his life, rather than just leave him to the walkers in the other episode. But then it didn’t seem to stick and Lori didn’t help in this last episode.

It makes me wonder if Darrel, Glen or Herschel will survive. I know Glen and Maggie are still around in the comic and are basically “married” according to my husband. (No one around to marry them in the pre-apocolyptic sense.) Herschel is gone in the comic now as well.

I know the Governor is coming next season, which is pretty scary. Anyone reading the comic… do you think they’ll do what the Governor does to Rick on the show? I don’t want to say more. I have a feeling that Darrel’s brother will be making a comeback as well, perhaps with the Governor’s group or with that other group that Randall was with.

I have to say, the dilemma of how they should handle Randall was much more stressful for me than the actual walkers.

Normally I am no fan of anything that seems demonic. When I saw the coming attractions I changed the channel,

Then someone urged me to watch this show. A few weeks ago AMC ran a marathon so I recorded them form the very first epsisode.

This show is awesome. Even my wife watches it with me now. The only recommendation I make to people is if you decide to watch it, you must start from the very beginning.

The character development and storyline is excellent. Every episode I sit on the edge of my chair.

last years season finale with Sophe was one of the best TV shows I ever saw.

I know what you mean. I don’t like horror films or most things depicting anything demonic. (“The Exorcism of Emily Rose” gave me nightmares for weeks.) My husband and sister are big zombie fans and were always trying to get me to watch zombie movies with them, especially when I was pregnant with my first child. They thought it would help me go into labor (Well, I did give into “28 Days Later”, which was sort of like a zombie movie, and I did go into labor. I still refuse to watch “Dawn of the Dead”). But they did convince me to try “Walking Dead” and I did “enjoy” it. I still get at least one nightmare a week after I watch an episode, but I just find the psychological and social aspects of the characters very interesting and the choices they make. That is what actually keeps me watching. I wish they didn’t show so much of the grossness the walkers do when they attack. That episode with Dale was just… I actually couldn’t watch and my husband told me that it was a good thing I didn’t.

I have to say, I can’t stand Andrea’s and Lori’s characters. They are annoying and apparently Andrea’s character in the comic is much more likeable… she’s also a lot younger in the comic. Perhaps she’ll get better now that Shane is gone and can’t influence her. I worry about Carl because he seems to become harder and darker. My husband actually doesn’t like Carl’s character in the comic. His character is just being seriously affected by the world around him.

One of the things I enjoy is when they have the flashbacks. I’m the type that needs to know how this all happened. It’s dramatic that they string you along, but they’ll have to reveal what started all of this eventually.

I also think they have left some things in the air. What about the first guy Rick met after he woke up from the coma? What ever happened to him? he was radioing the first few episodes and then they dropped it.

What did the guy at the CDC tell him? We just leave that behind? They need to get back to that.

In my opinion Carl is he only bad actor on the show. shallow and barely believable. I would surmise Andrea is going to become resentful after the last episode.

We’ll see.

The show is mind numbingly boring. read the graphic novels.
Yes, there are some graphic novel fans who prefer the comics to the show, which is completely understandable as I usually prefer books to a movie or tv series. We had some friends who couldn’t stand the LOTR movies because they didn’t follow the novels to a t. I respect that, although I enjoyed the movies.

Most of the people I know who have read or in the process of reading the comics are really enjoying the series as well. My sister, future brother-in-law, husband, as well as a good number of their friends all read the graphic novels and have been since well before the show. I have only read a few in the series, but I’m not really into graphic novels/comic books. I think I would be if it was more in a regular book format rather than as a graphic novel. They love the show as well even though it doesn’t follow the comic completely.

We (meaning myself and those around me in real life) all agree that the first season moved much slower than the second season. I think the second half the season has been the best so far.

According to my husband, you don’t really know why it happens even in the comics. Perhaps Kirkman will reveal that later on as he goes along. In regards to Morgan and his son… if it does follow the comic in this vein, you will see them again.

The CDC episode, in my opinion, was one of the weakest episodes and wasn’t part of the comic. Most of my family and friends who are avid comic fans absolutely hated that episode. I used to think the guy at the CDC told Rick that Lori was pregnant because I knew from the comics that she did get pregnant, but when it did come out in the open, he never told her that he knew she was pregnant. So, I don’t know. The first season was developed by Frank Darabont, but he was let go and replaced for the second season, so that might be the reason why we haven’t heard anything more in regards to what the guy told Rick.

I didn’t care as much for the CDC episode.

Also, the fellow who played Dale is a buddy of Darabont and a frequent actor in Darabont’s work. Hmmm…

Apparently, a few of the actors worked with Darabont. According to my future brother-in-law and sister, Darabont reuses actors with his projects. For instance, Andrea’s character is supposed to be in her 20s. This actress is in her 40s, but she has been used a few of Darabont’s movies.

I am so excited for the season finale. Being vaguely familiar with the graphic novel I am pretty sure I know what is going to happen, but I can’t wait to see how they pull it off in a new media.

Also, I came to find out a couple weeks ago that my parish priest is hooked on the show lol. At least I have someone around the parish to talk to about it.

Ite in pace,
Joshua

I’ve never read the comics, but I’ve kept up with the show. If Darryl dies anytime soon, I’ll be mucho disappointed. I want a crossbow 😃

In the comics, does Merle ever show up again? I didn’t like how they only brought him back as a figment of Darryl’s imagination.

If I’m not mistake , I don’t think Darryl or Merle are in the comics.

Wow, that finale was CRAZY!

Spoiler!!!

So who else thinks the hooded person who saved Andrea is Michone (sp?).

Wow! That was intense.

Yeah. Our concensus is that had to be Michonne!!!

On the aftershow, The Talking Dead, the creatures confirmed that it is Michonne.

I can’t blaime Rick for being miffed at the others. Here they always look to him to get them out of trouble, but then get on his case for not being perfect.
