I think a lot of people involved in the movement are not connected with the leaders in the organization that goes by the same name. I don’t know what her specific position might be on various political philosophies.
I don’t either, but she should know that the organization’s name includes its philosophies.

I see nothing wrong with universal healthcare, if it balanced with private healthcare as well.

A lot of countries have a two tiered system that functions and delivers an effective and efficient healthcare.

I don’t mind it if it isn’t Central government run.
If, for example, the USCCB set up a program to achieve universal coverage paid for by premiums and donations, I would support it.

Russians starved while Lenin owned his Rolls Royces.
Is that what the American Left wants to implement? Bolshevik communism? Because if not, using that as an example is thoroughly misleading and only shows you don’t know the people you’re criticizing and indeed their politics.
Taxpayer limited healthcare is always just that; limited.
That’s simply false. We have tens of countries that successfully maintain tax-funded healthcare and your system is no better off (than them) for cutting off your poor.
My assessment is historically proven. Simply look at the The eastern and western parts of Germany when the wall came down.
Perhaps so, but it’s irrelevant if you’re picking examples from systems the “Left” you’re criticising are not interested in implementing.
Of course he said that, in deference to Obama.
It was nice of him, but if his party brings legislation to him, he’ll sign it.
So you believe he made an anti-Left statement in deference to Obama? Do you know Obama picked Biden because he (Obama) was running on a progressive campaign in 2008 and he needed to calm the jitters of Right-wingers so he picked Biden because he was the most Right-wing Democrat he could pick? In any case, your assessment is simply wrong, because Biden has a long voting record that paints the opposite picture you’re describing. The man is not Left and it’s simply untrue to claim he ever was or to interpret his anti-Left statements, consistent with his long political record, as deference to a more progressive politician than himself.

I think there is a strong enough Marxist/ Leninist influence in the radical left here that this is a distinct possibility.

It is absolutely true Queuing and rationing is regular is government dictated healthcare.
The poor here have access to healthcare. It is called Medicaid. It is taxpayer funded.
But that isn’t the goal, is it? The goal is to control everyone’s healthcare. Sanders said that private health insurance would cease.

Biden has never been anything but progressive, and he has become more so over the last ten years.
River, ACA is a progressive program. Biden approved and defended it. Why would anyone think that he isn’t a progressive?
ACA was just a stepping stone to government dictated healthcare.
jitters of Right-wingers so he picked Biden because he was the most Right-wing Democrat he could pick?
Right wing Democrats? What? All 12 of them?
There might be centrist Democrats, maybe even Democrats who are slightly centered-right. Picking Biden would not calm the jitters of anyone right wing. That’s ridiculous.

There is no support for that opinion. I guess, you have no idea what Marxism/Leninism/Stalinism/Maoism is all about.

Of course it is. When there limited resources, rationing is unavoidable. During the second Word War the Brits implemented a very strict rationing system, and they grew the healthiest generation of all times.

Well thought out rationing beats the unregulated system by a mile. It is better to have a basic health care for everyone, rather that spending untold millions of dollars on a few prematurely born babies who will die anyhow in a short time. Of course it would be preferable to have the resources to give the best possible care for everyone, but to implement that you need God to provide the necessary resources.

Actually, God has provided us with plenty. To implement that you need people who are willing to share resources.

John, there are thousands that go into medical debt or bankruptcy. Clearly, the system you have now isn’t optimal, not even for average middle class Americans.

A two tiered system would be ideal for AMERICA.

Ive heard this same comment about socialism. People like Sanders and AIC call themselves socialist. Then when I say they are socialists, I’m told “you have no support for that opinion.”
Same thing here.
There are people that say they are Marxist. I’m not going to call them liars.
Of course it is. When there limited resources, rationing is unavoidable.
Then it isn’t universal healthcare and it isn’t a right. It is limited healthcare.
During the second Word War the Brits implemented a very strict rationing system, and they grew the healthiest generation of all times.
This sounds like selective healthcare. Again, it isn’t universal and it isn’t a right.
Well thought out rationing beats the unregulated system by a mile.
I would suspect that hose denied care for themselves (if they’re still alive) or their loved ones might disagree.

Sincerely, please don’t refer to this as universal healthcare or a right. It is clearly neither.

Will be happy to join you in promoting a movement where people volunteer their resources to help people who need healthcare.
Charity for those who can’t afford is Christ’s call.

I think our states are perfectly capable of developing systems to help those in need if charities are unable to.
The there is also alternatives that are often prohibited, such as large voluntary associations across state lines. See the stand Paul plan.

When I see complaints about queuing and rationing in healthcare, I see people complaining that those with actual needs get to go ahead of those with more money. There’s no system without waiting because medical services and facilities are always fewer than the population and its needs. The only thing that happens in places without universal systems is that poor people with need don’t “clog” up the queues for those with fatter pockets until they are literally at death’s door when they then get to go in on an “emergency” basis. But that’s nothing to admire, as far as I’m concerned.
There might be centrist Democrats, maybe even Democrats who are slightly centered-right. Picking Biden would not calm the jitters of anyone right wing. That’s ridiculous.
Lol at @ insisting that Biden is progressive. Oh, the things that track on the Right. As hilarious as some that track on the Left. And absolutely, YES: When it comes to economic policy, Biden and MOST Democrats are positively right-wing corporatists. And PS: If you don’t think Biden would calm those jitters, why do you thing the never Trumpers prefer him? Why is he edging out Trump in demographics that favor conservatives, like poor Whites, older people, and upper middle-class voters?

Obamacare has only very tiny slivers of leftism, and is for the most part, a gift to insurance corporations: there’s a reason Romney thought of it first. It may be slightly better than the laiser-faire situation that was there before but it is no “leftist” solution by a mile; the thing is a right-wing corporatist solution to a problem that needs a left-wing approach. Maybe you guys should actually listen to leftist critiques of Democratic governance instead of just assuming things about the DNC being by definition “Left” or even progressive. Those terms are only accurate descriptions of the DNC if you’re talking about the culture wars and NOTHING else, certainly not economics.

States are still “the govt” and that would still be “leftist” and “socialist” if they did that.

The first time I went to Europe (Barcelona) I tried to pay for something with a credit card. I got odd looks because my card had no chip. They used the magnetic strip but then they wanted a PIN. In the USA PINs are generally not used on credit cards. I was unable to use that card for a purchase.

Thankfully I also had a Debit card (card processed on Visa/Mastercard network where funds come from a checking account). Those cards have pins. That’s what I had to use.

The USA was pretty slow to move to the EMV (cards with chips). Many vendors didn’t want to upgrade their hardware to accept them. For vendors with newer hardware they may have had chip readers and contactless readers. But the presence of the hardware was not an indication that one could use it.

It feels like it was in the past year that I’ve been able to use the chip card consistently. Contactless was hit-or-miss. But under COVID-19 I’'ve seen an increase in contactless being available.

I support this statement JonNC.

I’m not in favor of government involvement in health insurance. Period. Government stinks at doing stuff like that. Instead, I am in favor of charity being done by private groups.
But if government is going to do this, let it be done at the state level.
  1. one size fits all top down run from Washington healthcare will be as bad or worse than we’ve come to expect from federal programs. Ronald Reagan’s line about the scariest words, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”, rings true here. States know their people better, are closer to their constituents and more easily held accountable.
  2. the constitution provides no mandated power to the general government To provide healthcare. For good reason. It puts too much additional power in the hands of the general government. We’ve seen politicians and presidents abuse their power. Abuse of the IRS against political opponents comes to mind. It will happen. It will be used to coerce. The threat of denial of care for a sick loved one would be a powerful weapon. States can’t use that threat because people can just move to another state.
But if you don’t think that this threat is real, ask yourself this if you’re a Republican: “do you want Obama in charge of your family’s healthcare? If you’re a Democrat, “do you want Donald Trump in charge of your family’s healthcare?
If you want government healthcare dictated from Washington, your answer to this question must be yes.

Pastor Marc Little: ‘We Are Witnessing a Marxist Takeover Supported by Members of Congress’

ROBERT KRAYCHIK

14 Jul 2020

The removal of monuments and statues across America is part of a broader “Marxist takeover” involving elected officials, stated Marc Little, a Los Angeles-based attorney and pastor, offering his remarks during Tuesday’s rally to defend the Abraham Lincoln Emancipation Monument in Washington, DC.

Little, who is the board chair for the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), said:
We are witnessing a Marxist takeover supported by members of Congress that laughs through the flames that burn in the buildings of our inner cities that they set ablaze, and that will not stop until it robs us of our freedom as we know it, and as guaranteed under the Declaration of Independence.

What we’ve seen since the matter of George Floyd in Minneapolis is the unveiling of what has been percolating against the church. Make no mistake, the Body of Christ is the target of the Marxists, for it cannot succeed when morality stands in the way. Morality brings clarity. The tool of the Marxists is confusion.

It is no mistake. They are closing churches. Forbidding singing during worship, should we be so lucky to get in a church these days. Defacing murals and monuments of Christ and the blessed Virgin Mary while the former head of the DNC [Howard] Dean calls Christianity a religion of hate.

To the learned mind, we are witnessing the birth of a long orchestrated effort by our enemies at the hands of useful idiots of all ethnicities who hate their own country of birth, and are driven by liberal ideology who are driven not by liberal ideology, but by a liberal theology, and bring the unsuspecting and misinformed along for the ride.

We’re fighting a new religion disguised as racial justice. This revolution has nothing to do with racial justice. It has everything to do with the authority of God and their own quest for power. . . .

The way the Marxists “argue” against this? Ad hominems. Attack the messenger. Deflection. Sloganeering.

They have no real ideas that the public as a whole will accept so they cannot pit their ideas against freedom.

And this spreading of the errors of Marx phenomenon is not limited to America.

Marxism.

A short, but wide-ranging, 2015 interview with Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors revealed that many of those within the movement, including Cullors, consider themselves to be “trained Marxists.”

In a moment of discussion regarding the lack of ideological direction within the movement, Cullors argued that the movement does “have an ideological frame.”

“Myself and Alicia [Garza] in particular are trained organizers,” Cullors said in an interview with the Real News Network. “We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories.” . . .

Prof. William Jacobson: ‘Silence Is Violence’ Is Totalitarian, ‘Just Like USSR’

“Silence is violence” is a totalitarian slogan demanding compliance and reminiscent of political coercion within the former Soviet Union, said William Jacobson, professor of law at Cornell University and founder of Legal Insurrection. He offered his remarks on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Sunday with host Joel Pollak.

Jacobson is being targeted by leftists — both students and professors — following his examination of the false “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative pushed by the left in relation to the death of Michael Brown. He described a coordinated campaign involving faculty and students to terminate his professorship due to his criticism of left-wing axioms, highlighting two recent columns of his, titled “Reminder: “Hands up, don’t shoot” is a fabricated narrative from the Michael Brown case” and “The Bloodletting and Wilding Is Part of An Agenda To Tear Down The Country.”

The “silence is violence” motto goes beyond conventional left-wing intimidation into silence, observed Jacobson, as it pushes the frontier of “political correctness” into demanding expressions of support for leftist campaigns and stories.

Jacobson said, “My inbox has been flooded with hundreds [of emails] ever since I went public and got a little publicity,” said Jacobson. “Hundreds of people were saying, ‘I’m scared to death about speaking out at work,’ . . . .

A middle school teacher in the Italian city of Prato is alleged to have threatened pupils and labelled them “fascists” if they refused to sing the Marxist song “Bella Ciao” in class.

The teacher allegedly told the students to sing the song, which is largely associated with the left-wing partisan movement during the Second World War, and not only threatened to label them “fascists” for not singing but also to harm their grades, Il Giornale reports.

The allegations came to light after one of the parents of one of the students in the class complained about the situation . . .
