Two dead, two wounded in Nevada middle school shooting

All I can say is that the US has a severe violence problem. These things are beyond sad and troubling. And yes I cannot think.any other place in the world.where these things happen.
 
Just an opinion but we might start looking at the morality of the nation as a whole and the morality of the people running it. The country seems to be imploding or is being pushed into a reaction. The last few year have been the most divisive and violent in a very long time.

It is very sad and unfortunate. Praying for all the victims and their families.

I completely agree. This is why we need the New Evangelization. If more people became faithful Catholics then they would have much better morals and our nation would be better off as a whole.

Do we know for a fact that the shooter (who also committed suicide) was bullied?

Supposedly he said “why are you making fun of me?”

I agree that when you toss God out of places that the devil moves in and things like this happen. It is really sad and tragic that this happened. From what I understand, the shooter was killed. I didn’t read the article. I just took a look at the headline and then posted it here on CAF.

Sadly, it happens in many places, it just doesn’t get reported so much. The secular media gets bored with stories of children slaughtered or kidnapped from schools in Africa, the Middle East and many other countries. Over here, the problem is the knife culture among youths. Even though we have laws against carrying guns, it doesn’t stop the shootings.

There is just too much violence and hurt in the world, but I believe it is outweighed by the loving kindness and charity that never gets reported.

And, of course, in Africa and the Middle East, it’s endemic.

I’m sure it’s a complicated thing. I, for one, have often wondered about the degree to which we “popularize” these attacks. I saw a psychiatrist comment that these kinds of things are often “celebrity killings”. Some disturbed person sees the celebrity awarded to some killer and, perhaps thinking his own sense of nonentity can be cured by even momentary “celebrity” does this. For goodness sake, remember the air-brushed photo of Tsarnaev on Time magazine?

I honestly wish these events were not made such a big deal of in the media.
 
Perhaps if the media didn’t cover each incident for the next three months after the event, people would get the idea that doing something like this does not make them a celebrity.🤷

The attention needs to be on mental health issues, not the weapon used.

Amen,

I agree, part of that reaction is also “gun control” and usually followed by the everlasting sermon how wonderfully safe the rest of the world is and how crazy US citizens are running around with AR-15s.

That’s to not focus on the real issue; “looking at the morality of the nation as a whole and the morality of the people running it”. I would suggest the morality is a reflection of the corruptness of the people running the country?

But those are terrorist attacks, what I meant was a 15 or 16 year old that goes to school, grabbing a gun, taking the gun to his school and shooting his classmates and teachers. That is what I meant, of course kids are being slaughtered in Africa but I can’t think of any case where they had been slaughtered by their own classmate with the teacher inside the school with the gun that the kid had.

Why not look into gun culture when looking at the morality of the nation as a whole. Guns are effective and easy to get. Why not look at guns as part of the problem (not the whole of it)?

I think they should be, not the on-going obsession though, what else are we looking into? Gun safety frankly the NRA leads the way. People who leave their gun case’s open to mental heath issues with 13 year olds seems to be another area. All avoids the question though, the social political leaders effecting the behavior. Its getting worse, what is that saying?
