Or make a few phone calls and find out from the NRA what exactly happened.Ya, it takes me a while and some cajoling for me to remember relatively triffling stuff that happened back in the 90s myself.

FRom what I gather, these women were no “harrassed” by Cain. They were in the same room and observed him in a private conversation with another person and he made gestures or said something that “made them feel uncomfortable”. Cain didn’t even know what was going on. An attorney at the Association paid them a settlement to keep it out of the courts, a very frequent happening with big firms like this. Its just a matter of business. Less publicity for a relatively trivial matter and no wasted time and expense with courts. However, they did sign a confidentiality agreement to keep silent on the issue in exchange for the money, so the fact that they didn’t means that they breached the contract and should be liable for damages. I hope the Restaurant Association goes after these two women and any media outlet that encouraged them to breach their contract.Or he didn’t see it as a problem. When the media started their attack, he went back to find out details.
I think they ARE nothing. If a woman feels that she is being sexually harassed, she doesn’t take money to be quiet. If she does, then I don’t take her allegations seriously.
Or when the allegations are proven baseless she’s given severance pay and told her services are no longer needed.I think they ARE nothing. If a woman feels that she is being sexually harassed, she doesn’t take money to be quiet. If she does, then I don’t take her allegations seriously.
It is pretty common for a departing individual to sign a nondisclosure agreement regarding ALL aspects of their work in order to receive a severance check. However, they did sign a confidentiality agreement to keep silent on the issue in exchange for the money, so the fact that they didn’t means that they breached the contract and should be liable for damages. Right, so any disclosure after signing a “Non-Disclosure” is a breach of contract. It is pretty common for a departing individual to sign a nondisclosure agreement regarding ALL aspects of their work in order to receive a severance check.
Exactly, truth is, its all the time when someones service is no longer needed. The simple fact the charge’s were bought is really moot without knowing what happened in court. Second of all if he was found guilty he would be on-line registered as a Sexual Offender. Is he?It is pretty common for a departing individual to sign a nondisclosure agreement regarding ALL aspects of their work in order to receive a severance check.
I actually think that commentary you responded to might be wrong. Apparently yesterday was one of Cain’s best fundraising days so far.I rest my case. This is all about positioning the “real” candidates into positions. It is an illusion that voters have any real choice.
Indeed, Scott, indeed. Its just “gatcha” politics, IMO. However, that said, it does give us some insight as to how he would handle a relatively minor crisis. How would he handle Iran dropping a nuke on Jerusalem?
My guess is Cain would probably retaliateIts just “gatcha” politics, IMO. However, that said, it does give us some insight as to how he would handle a relatively minor crisis. How would he handle Iran dropping a nuke on Jerusalem?
I DO agree that this could help Perry and Romney in the long run, though, particulalry if the story just will just not “go away.”I actually think that commentary you responded to might be wrong. Apparently yesterday was one of Cain’s best fundraising days so far.
I have no idea if it got leaked by any of the GOP campaigns, who knows, maybe it got leaked by Obama’s campaign.I DO agree that this could help Perry and Romney in the long run, though, particulalry if the story just will just not “go away.”
I was saying yesterday that many are convinced (particularly Mike Huckabee) that this problem got started by a “leak” from one of the GOP campaigns. Huckabee said he was “almost certain” of it. Personally, it sounds either like Perry or (possibly) Romney, Romney by the way of Karl Rove, who is basically open about his support for Romney.
Would not put it past either campaign or Rove to do something like this.
We’ll see how this turns out.![]()
I am not at all convinced the Obama camp has their act together well enough to have leaked this story.I have no idea if it got leaked by any of the GOP campaigns, who knows, maybe it got leaked by Obama’s campaign.
Could be Obama’s camp still----------------but they have been more interested in discrediting Romney lately than dealing with Cain. Apparently they agree with most of the Washington pundits that Cain is not gonna make it and that Romney is the inevitable choice.I am not at all convinced the Obama camp has their act together well enough to have leaked this story.
It is in the media’s interests to portray Romney as the inevitable choice.Could be Obama’s camp still----------------but they have been more interested in discrediting Romney lately than dealing with Cain. Why? Romney is doing well against Obama in the polls. It is in the media’s interests to portray Romney as the inevitable choice.
If he wins the nomination, I am convinced Obama will have a chance.
Answering a poll is different from actually voting. Why? Romney is doing well against Obama in the polls.
I tend to agree with you. On the face of it, if a person is disrespecting women in a sexual manner, the responsible thing to do would be to report it and warn others. If money were offered in exchange for silence, my feeling is that it should not be accepted. Genuine sexual harassment is not simply between two people - the victims we save by speaking out might be our own friends and acquaintances.Or he didn’t see it as a problem. When the media started their attack, he went back to find out details.

But polls do give you a snapshot.Answering a poll is different from actually voting.
I would answer a poll favoring Romney over Obama, but I do not believe I would vote for him. In fact, most of the people I know are having real anxiety over the prospect of choosing between Obama or Romney. A few say they simply will not vote.
I can’t disagree with them, I believe the man to be a closet socialist myself.
Which black stereotype? Were Clinton, …(insert chain of sexually indiscreet politicians)… Weiner, black? Sorry Rush, try again. All the black stereotypes - and a bunch of new ones - were used up in '08 campaign. Two women accused Cain of sexually harrassing them. Whether or not the accuastions are true can be determined in court if they choose to to press charges.
The paranoia of some people on this forum is evident in the fact that everyone from Barack Obama to the mysterous colltively conscious spirit known as “the Left” to the Clintons have been blamed for this. Rush Limbaugh has apparently blamed it on the fact that Cain is black, and that ‘the Left’ are trying to paint him as a black stereotype, forgetting, of course, that nobody is painting anyone; two women, real people, accused Cain of sexually harassing them. .
