Matthew 18:21-22: “Then Peter came and said to Him. ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.’”

Peace,
Meeshy
I forgive all criminals, but I still believe in convicting behavior of those who don’t obey the laws of my country.

[CCC 1807] Justice is the moral virtue that consists in the constant and firm will to give their due to God and neighbor. Justice toward God is called the “virtue of religion.” Justice toward men disposes one to respect the rights of each and to establish in human relationships the harmony that promotes equity with regard to persons and to the common good. The just man, often mentioned in the Sacred Scriptures, is distinguished by habitual right thinking and the uprightness of his conduct toward his neighbor. “You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.” “Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.”

Do I dispute government regulations? No. I am only giving you proof that fraudulent activities occur, even if the “regulations” state otherwise. I made use of another source of information, to prove my point with regard to welfare fraud. Whether or not you choose to believe the evidence in front of you… hey, your choice.

Illegal immigration is a huge problem in this country, and it cannot be solved by simply legalizing 12 million people. The strain on our schools, highways, and hospitals is atrocious. It will only get worse if more illegals continue to flood into our country.
PART I
Cheap Tomatoes
This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent
From a California school teacher - - -"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:
I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.
Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.
Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I’m not talking a glass of milk and roll – but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at leastmoderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange
for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teacher, calling them “Putas” whores and throwing things that the teachers were in tears.
Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?
To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal
immigration and see the TRUE costs.Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I’ll pay more for tomatoes.

We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won’t have the guts to enforce it.
Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

PART II
He requires bilingual teachers and books

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once
qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at
taxpayer’s expense

He doesn’t worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners
insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in
benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying
their bills and his.

The American taxpayer’s also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash
clean-up.

Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people

Regarding “Cheap Tomatoes”:
This is a bogus email which has been circulating the internet for almost a year now.

Let’s only quote reputable sources. What is presented in the email you quoted is an opinion at best, not an accurate statement of facts, and probably completely fabricated.

My son used to go to a Title I school, also, where 90% of the kids receive free breakfast and free lunch. So? His school was 50% black, 45% white, and 5% hispanic. The majority of the students were born to U.S. citizens. What does it have to do with anything? Besides that, the government-funded food in schools is barely edible, which still has nothing to do with anything.

Go to the websites of the California schools mentioned in that bogus email. They look pretty nice, don’t they. Do a little research about those schools and other schools. These fabricated, propaganda testimonies from so-called teachers or whomever else, usually can be disproven fairly easily.

Peace,
Meeshy

Once again, do the research. Go to the government medicaid website, food stamp website, public housing website, and welfare website. See exactly what the regulations are.

Don’t say something is true unless you have facts to back it up.

And please don’t say that illegals regularly use false documents to get government benefits. Those documents are really difficult to falsify, and cost a lot of money on the black market.

Don’t make statments off the top of your head just because you’ve heard other people make the same statements. You must back up your assertions with facts.

Meeshy,

I gave credible sources to you that clearly showed examples of welfare fraud. You obviously refuse to believe the information given to you, unless it suits your purpose.

Let me guess, you also believe that the 2000 election was stolen, and that fraud occured in Ohio?

Meeshy, I gave credible sources to you that clearly showed examples of welfare fraud. You obviously refuse to believe the information given to you, unless it suits your purpose.
I will quote part of a post in another thread about illegal immigration:

“…according to the HHS [Health and Human Services] the fraud and error rate was 6.8% in [fiscal year] 2000. Of that fraud, the percentage committed by undocumented workers is likely to be remarkably low.”

Quote government sources like this poster did, kelli. It’s not too hard to do. When you see the real facts, these emotional arguments against illegals lose their merit.

Meeshy

According to the above article, immigrants bring in diseases that weren’t even known to exist in the United States. They also bring in diseases that were previously eradicated in the US.

It is illegals who brought TB back in the United States (legal immigrants are screened for communicable diseases). Ilegals from Mexico also brought in drug resistant strains of TB, which were only found in Mexico. Now these cases are showing up in Minnesota and Maine.

If that wasn’t enough, illegals have also brought in Leprosy. These illegals come in from Mexico, Brazil, India, and the Caribbean. They expose people to these diseases because they work in low skilled jobs such as fast food.

Illegals also brought in Chagas Disease. "*’‘is brought directly from Mexico and Latin America where it has infected over 18,000,000 people. One can contract it by eating uncooked food contaminated with infected feces of the Vinchuca Bug. It crosses over the border in the bodies of an average of 2,200 illegal aliens daily.’’ *

Illegal immigration brings down the standard of living for all Americans. The money spent to educate and feed illegals could clearly be used to educate our own citizens. It could be used to provide health care for our own poor citizens.

If Latin American countries would take care of their own people instead of sending them to America, those who come here would have opportunities to better their own lives in their own countries. Mexico has abundant natural resources, and the opportunity for world renown tourism. The government there is corrupt and fraudulent. Drugs and gangs are rampant. The police has no control of many areas.

I asked before, kelli, that you should quote only from government websites. Show me some CDC statistics and I’ll believe them, nothing else.

As for TB, you must not be aware of the recent scare.

Please stop perpetuating propoganda. I’m only concerned with facts.

From the CDC website:

"Between 1985 and 1992, cases of TB in the United States increased by 20 percent. This period of resurgence of TB disease was fueled by:
Code:
* The onset of the HIV epidemic
* Increases in TB cases among foreign-born persons
* Outbreaks in congregate settings (correctional facilities and homeless shelters)
* Deterioration of the infrastructure for TB services
* Development of difficult-to-treat cases of Multiple Drug Resistant (MDR) TB
Today the trend has been reversed. TB cases reported to CDC for 2005 represented a 2.9% decrease from 2004 and a 47% decrease from 1992, when the number of cases and the case rate peaked during a resurgence in the United States. In 2005, the thirteenth consecutive year of decline, the TB case rate was 4.8 per 100,000.5 This reduction is attributed to more effective TB-control programs that emphasize prompt identification of persons with TB, prompt initiation of appropriate therapy, and efforts to ensure that therapy will be completed."

legal immigrants are screened for communicable diseases
Guess what? You only think they are screened. The Atlanta lawyer with TB was let go at the Canadian border, despite the warnings which popped up when his passport was screened. Those were pretty severe warnings: detain citizen, wear protective mask in dealing with him, and telephone health authorities immediately.

If a border inspector couldn’t follow those clear and serious instructions, what gives you such faith that other inspectors do what they are supposed to do?

Meeshy

It is difficult to debate with someone who refuses to stay with the issues, and accept other sources of information as credible. The US government is not the only place to find credible information on illegal immigration.

I should have known that I was dealing with a liberal, and I have been taught by Ann Coulter that I should speak to a liberal only if I must. 🤷

I agree with Kelli! 👍

I have family that works in construction and its hard for an American Citizens that want these jobs to feed there family’s to be able to compete with under paid illegal crews that can frame a house in a matter of days. It is slavery, no question about it.

My brother was hit by an illegal that ran a red light. No insurance (in a mandatory insurance state) he did have uninsured but it still got $500 out of pocket for him and when on his insurance. They threatened to send the bill to the dioceses, I still think they should have.

Don’t drink the Kool- Aid. I do not bring any propaganda to this discussion.

How is $15 per hour slavery? I live in the South and that is the average rate for illegals working in the home building industry in my region.

It all depends on where you live. Americans who are making poor wages or who live where jobs are not plentiful always have the option of moving to an area with better wages and more work.

Meeshy

kelli, kelli, kelli… you give credence to Ann Coulter and not to our Bishops?

I’m so sorry you feel this way. You are a smart young woman, kelli, please don’t fall for media hype and personal opinions. Please stick to the Truth of the Catholic Church in any and all issues.

The Bishops have a great website devoted to immigration reform. Please check it out; there’s a lot of information there:

justiceforimmigrants.org/

I’ll leave the discussion now, to those of you who disagree with our shepherds. I have no qualms about putting my faith in those who were appointed by Jesus to guide us.

So it doesn’t bother you that illegals are taking jobs form American Citizens because there is no over site to make sure they are getting a fair wage and proper workers rights? It doesn’t bother you contractors are using these people to frame house at lower costs by using poor construction methods because there workers do not know any better?

Mexilad is correct in everything he is saying and we should wake up before it is too late. In my 72 years, I have seen the migrant workers who came for a season and went home to their families and followed the law, evolve to today when I have to push a button to get an English speaking operator. My ballot is in Spanish, and I when I buy an appliance at Home Depot I have to request a contract in English, because all the ones at the front desk were in Spanish. I have seen our crime rate rise and spread from Southern to Northern California. Companies who follow the law are going out of business because they can’t compete with companie who hire illegals with fake IDs or pay under the table.
The American flag has been hung upside down with the Mexican flag above it by a Southern California High School. Miss USA was booed in Mexico City.
I am afraid of people I once loved and considered my friends. The Illegals do not wish to become citizens, they wish to remove us and take over our country if they can. Do you think our government is going to enforce the fines they levy, if they can’t or won’t enforce the laws that are on the books right now. Our government puts our border guards in prison for enforcing the law against drug traffickers and the drug trafficker is allowed to sue for damages. How can the Catholic Church defend their position on Immigration? They can’t and they are just like our government, they are selling the US Citizen out, and ruining our nation. God does not condone this and He will strike us down for not keeping the law of the land. Listen to the people, we do not want the immigration law that is being shoved down our throats. We love the Mexican people, but we want them to come here legally and follow our laws. Would they let us go there and settle in Mexico without following the laws. NO! I tried to move to Huatulco in the state of Oaxaca, several years ago, and they would not bend any rules at all for me.

GrandpaD, thanks a whole bunch for your comments. They are sorely needed here on this thread.

As for Meeshy’s comments about trusting Ann Coulter more than our Bishops- when it comes to talking to liberals, I guess I do. Our Bishops are not infallable. They can be wrong, and they are human, too. Many are detached from the rest of society, since they don’t have much life experience working in the construction industry, or other areas where this problem exists.

I have personally seen the illegals building houses here in Texas. They put up the frames seemingly overnight. As a result, many of the houses are poorly constructed. Quality carpenters cannot compete with the lower wages given to illegals, and they are being pushed from the industry. We all suffer when this happens.

Many do not realize that if this bill is passed, not only are 12 million illegals instantly legalized, then they are allowed to bring in their large familiies. Experts have said the totals could reach 40 million. Our Nation cannot withstand the invasion. The sheer numbers of people would crush our infrastructure.
