The sad part is if the man or his family gets injured, what does that say. I think once you have been attacked, it’s time to move on. He should apply for asylum as they do not feel safe in the UK .
Gam, can we do a thought experiment?

Lets take someone in the USA who is, say, a Nazi and they use social media to promote Nazi-sim. if they got public backlash when they posted such things and someone attacked their property, do you think they qualify to apply for political asylum elsewhere?

Please tell us how any of this relates to the current Black Lives Matter movement in the US.

No you can’t relate the two. This man has spoken against Muslim gangs that would be worth very little in the USA. We have lots of gangs. It should apply for political asylum in the country where he and his family feel safe. He is not safe in the UK .

I absolutely can. Tommy Robinson is a person who’s entire ‘career’ (I use the term very loosely) is based on promoting far right nationalism. He is legally allowed to do so in the UK, he was not prohibited by the government from being the leader of the EDL, standing EDL members up for election or spouting his views publicly.

He DOES get public backlash for holding far right views.

So I ask you again, as part of our thought experiment: if a member of the Nazi party (which is legally allowed in the USA) was using social media to promote their views, but gained a lot of public disapproval and possibly even attack for doing so, do they qualify for political asylum elsewhere?

His views on muslim gangs have very, very little to do with why people find him so odious.

Really would you rather have the man or his wife and children get hurt/killed in the UK. They are not safe. He has every right to speak on Muslim gangs. We in the US have ever right to also speak on gang and gang activity.

If the UK is having a problem with free speech and I think it is. It seems to me that is the issue. We did a whole thread on pro life people and the banning of pro life people outside UK clinics in four communities. By American standards the Supreme in the US in 2014 voted unanimously that you can not put buffer zones around clinics. They struck down the MA law. The UK has no problem with buffer zones and not just 35 feeet but 330 feet buffer zones in four communities.

He has that right in the UK too. I don’t see what your point is here?

Well your freedom of speech seems to be lacking. When your nation attacks pro life people and people have to leave the country because they do not feel safe, it speaks for itself.

This man speaks out on Muslim gang activity and everyone in the US speaks out on gang activity. Most people don’t like their mode of operating.

Your point on abortion is entirely unrelated.

Tommy Robinson is NOT in any way prohibited from speaking his views. We have far right political groups who are legal, free to express their views and stand in general and local elections. Tommy Robinson himself was the leader of such a far right group.

What you seem to equate with ‘lack of freedom of speech’ is actually just ‘I say unpopular things in public and people don’t like it’. He is not legally or politically stopped from sharing his views, what he DOES do is attract negative attention from the general public because those views are socially unpopular.

No it is not. Once one right is taken away others often follow. The UK has taken the rights of pro life people away be creating buffer zones and major buffer zones because not just 35 feet but 330 feet away. That is absurd. It is parcel of the same dynamics.

No but he is not safe when he speaks out. His wife’s property was alledgedly firebombed. His family feels unsafe and if he or his family get inured/killed, what does that solve. He needs to seek asylum.

Fine Ruby’s nation but you seem to have strong opinions on Ruby’s nation.

You can’t flip and say not my nation, Ruby’s nation and then come back, chastise everyone else for holding an opinion that is not born in the UK. You are not born there and have not problem expressing opinions left and right on the UK.

Except you have not shown in any way, that Tommys legal right to be a member of the far right has been eroded.

He has all the necessary and leal protections afforded to him if he feels ‘unsafe’. All you keep doing is equating ‘freedom of speech’ to ‘everyone must like what I say’.

Lets take the Westborough Baptist church in the USA as an example - they have all the legal right to say what they say and promote those views very publicly. They also get a lot of public backlash for that, but they still have the legal right to do so. Tommy is exactly the same. Do the Westborough Baptist church have grounds to seek political/religious asylum elsewhere?

They have the right to express their views, they don’t have the right to force anyone to agree or like it. When that dislike becomes criminal damage, they have the same police protection and legal process available as everyone else does.

I don’t know what Tommy Robinson’s is a member of or not. He speaks on Muslim gangs, hardly a crime. You have taken away the right of pro life people and who knows what you call them. I really do not trust any thing the UK is doing because of your erosion of rights on pro life people.

Last I checked no one has complained they are being targeted for their opinions.

Yes you do. You regularly tell people on these forums that it is not their country and why should they have an opinion on some place they do not live since they do not know the dynamics of that nation.

If that is not your intention, that is not the way it has been coming across.

Ripped apart no. They are seen as a fringe group but no big deal. We have lots of different groups. They are the least of our concerns.

See there you go again. I don’t live in the UK therefore I can’t know what is happening on the ground. My opinions are bizarre.

You are not a citizen of the UK and yet have no problem voicing an opinion on someone’s else nation.

I know that blocking pro life people at clinics is against freedom of speech and is in not acceptable.

This also have been pointed out, that the UK and the USA are not the same but frredom of speech in a civilized society for pro life people should not matter and it does in the UK.
